I feel Venus performance in this tournament is her best ever. Her level was very high. I don't think she ever played this well in any tournament again. Wimbledon 2008 comes close, but this was something else.
Really I feel like her second best preformance was 2007 Wimbledon she won with little difficulty don't h think but 08 is one of my favs
@fiveweenies4533 she struggled in the 1st and 3rd round matches at 2007 Wimbledon, but she was incredible from the 4th round. She didn't loose a set at the 2008 Wimbledon.
Agreed. This version of Venus was the GOAT. Athletically superior to Serena.
Venus pre her 2003 abdominal injury was insane!
But why did the USTA leave out certain great points?
For all of you saying she never reached this level again, must not have watched Venus her entire career. Venus has high levels against certain players who could never really beat her...even before the sickness. For instance, Venus was very successful against players that gave Serena trouble like Capriati, Henin, Dementieva, etc. She just had a certain game that could disturb them.
Yes thats very true because even though they were summed in the same token serena and venus had very different game and technique .similarly players that gave venus a hard time like davenport serena would usually cruise through.
Venus never saw the ball the way Serena. She hugged the baseline when she could have made her opponent work harder, but maybe due to her illness and her height played a big part in how she played. Either way she no slouch.
This is what you call FAST COURT tennis! This court and the balls were lightening quick and it made the women’s game soooo exciting to watch - unfortunately the men serving non stop aces made them
Slow it down!
This tournament was definitely peak Venus!
I was in the stands on this historic day when Serena and Venus won their semifinals, setting up their first of NINE major finals against each other. I’ll never forget it and will always be grateful I got to enjoy their impressive careers. (Devastatingly, just four days later was 9/11/01. Breaks my heart every time I remember this day when the Williams Sisters made history.)
Williams' brothers you mean. They were born male and transitioned at an early age. Defrauding tennis their entire ill-begotten careers.
I'm glad Venus never let Capriati beat her.
The difference here for me is basically 2 fold. Ball striking ability is pretty equal. First, Capriati is a good athlete Venus is a great athlete. Secondly, l have never doubted Capriati's determination but l get the feeling that Venus wants it just a little bit more.
Don't get me wrong l am a huge Capriati fan. She's been a participant in some the greatest women's matches ever. Seles/Capriati at the US Open l still watch to this day.
That sass 12:30 😅 she knew.
Omg yaaaas.. Hahhahahaha
Insane quality
Jennifer thought she was doing something with that little forehand at 10:22. still lost.
She won that game 😅
@@LendaleJohnson86 and lost that match....
When u watch this and watch the following year against Serena the downgrade was unbelievable. This is when I believe Venus' sickness started affecting her. She never got to this level ever again
I was there Venus was on fire
The Prime of Miss Venus Williams
I've reported a comment four times, so I guess youtube allows referring to certain kinds of people as "it."
Capriati was a POS during this match. So happy that Venus dragged her and went on to win the title.
Venus Williams, the first man ever to play in womens' tennis. Well, second depending on if you count her twin brother Serena
It wasn’t a great match at all. 80 UE and 25 winners in 2 sets.
