It took all of two seconds for Scully to be romanced by fake-Mulder. Real-Mulder should've taken the damn hint. All you have to do is give her a speech about how much you appreciate her, and then kiss her you numbskull! What are you doing?! What *better* evidence do you need that she has the hots for you?!
I can't believe it takes three seasons and a movie (where they get interrupted by a bee) more of them flirting and making gooey faces at each other, just for a single kiss. I'm only technically in season 2 and I spoiled myself because I am already sick of waiting.

Guy, imagine what it was like watching the show as it aired, with all the actors and writers and the show's creator INSISTING that there would never ever ever be any romance between these two. It was agony.

I can't believe the writers thought that it was completely normal and platonic for a woman to go to her brand new male coworker's motel room at night in her underwear. Or that they didn't notice how Mulder inappropriately touches Scully and invades her personal space from the start haha
@@zammmerjammer They're crazy, I say! I can't believe how clueless the writers were and that it took so long for them to pick up the monumental signs. Especially as they were writing and approving the whole thing!
I feel like if the show had had more women involved it probably would've changed how things played out haha. Female writers would likely have been a bit more cluey about how abnormal their "platonic" work relationship is.
Because from the pilot, Mulder is constantly making what could be seen as advances on Scully. He is always touching her in intimate places (i.e. lower back), invading her personal space and embedding himself into her private life (showing up at her room/apartment uninvited, calling her completely out of work hours).
And if Scully wasn't attracted to him, she would've seen it all as very inappropriate and simply would not have put up with it. She certainly wouldn't have reciprocated or encouraged him and turned down dates to run off with him.
That scene 🙏🙏 this is pure masterpiece !!! They love to play with our feelings..

I love that Mulder found them in that situation, what must he have thought !!? He saw that he could be with Scully IF HE TRIED... he had a "parallel life" situation in front of his eyes and that made it clear to both of them that if they tried to be together, something would probably happen since they share that sexual attraction that who knows why they always decided to ignore, until now...

The best thing about this scene is Scully's expression, as if saying that maybe she should avoid what is about to happen - the kiss of someone who believes she is Mulder - but succumbing to the desire of the long-awaited moment. Too bad it was a lie (and we had to wait four more seasons).

Imagine if he came a few minutes later and something more would be happening, I would be excited because I'd be thinking it was Mulder but at the end I would be more horrified than I already was.

Isn't it the funniest and saddest episode about their relationship? Like, real Mulder is too far into his alien-obsession-shit and he mainly treats Scully like the best co-worker he ever had ... but she... She is always there for him. Mulder is "the only one" she trusts, the first who she told about her cancer.
She literally let him organise her life by becoming "Miss Spooky" for the rest of her life 😉
Realizing that Scully is obviously in love with Mulder is funny in this situation, but also sad though...

This scene gives me sooo much secondhand embarrassment, lol. Especially when the real Mulder bursts in and sees himself about to kiss Scully.
I will say though that it's amazing to me how much longer it would take for things to head in a romantic direction between Mulder and Scully, because it's clear how much they loved and wanted each other. This moment was just one of many instances to show that. There's no indication whatsoever that Scully would have pushed away from the imposter if Mulder hadn't come rushing in at the last second.
Yes I feel the same. I feel bad for Scully. And yeah the way the romance took so long and the stupid stilted way the writers did it spoiled it for me. Should have just addressed it sooner and had them make excuses as to why it couldn’t happen. Or better yet acknowledge that it was inevitable after everything they put the characters through and let them be together just don’t shove it in everyone’s faces, just give subtle glimpses.
Haven't we all had "it" for someone we work closely with. Damn, you love the professional relationship and all it brings. You'd love to take it to the next level but, what if it fails. You risk losing the great professional relationship and once you cross that line you can't go back. You lose twice.
There was SO much more at stake for these two characters if they crossed the threshold into a physical/intimate relationship.
If they were simply working at a bank, or whatever; they probably would have hooked up at the first office Christmas party. 😜
But they were fighting a “Global Conspiracy!” 😂 And aliens. 👽 And government secrets. 🤫 And personal agendas. 🤨
Their 24/7 work was of the *utmost* importance, and they would have been further ostracized and judged by their peers; and literally endangered if anyone knew they were actually in love.
So they stuffed their feelings down, knowing it was for each other’s best interest, as well as their own; and we the audience gobbled up the love crumbs that the writers wisely doled out at a snail’s pace. Smart! 😉👌❤️
Still get weak in the knees watching these scenes! 🤭

Growing up watching this show and too eager for Scully and Mulder to be a couple and everything is just a tease while they really want each other. Viewers like me fall in love with them first than they realize and accept their feelings. Why they are so controlled and slow, to act to what they feel? I thought it was him been waiting for them to kiss, fake Mulder got it almost there.
The kind of distressing thing about this scene is that it’s funny but it’s also NOT funny, you know? Like Scully is literally about to get kissed by a stranger under false pretenses
Back in the day as a pre-teen this used to be my favorite episode because it gave us a glimpse of what a romantic Mulder and Scully scene could look like, but now as an adult with a lot more understanding, its super messed up what Eddie did to all of those women and Scully.
I loved this episode because there was the tenderness between them you always longed to see. They couldn't have cast two more perfect people for the roles of Mulder and Scully than they did. In the 90's Gillian did not fit the ideal of 'hot beauty' for the time. By today's standards she far surpasses it....she always did.

The ending explained why "Mulder" was so darned awkward during the whole scene. I kept thinking, "What is wrong with him?" Then the real agent bursts in. BTW, is it normal for Mulder to enter without knocking on her door? ha ha Funny stuff.

Dam,,, this is in my top 5 best shows ever for sure!! I was pretty young but I watched Miami Vice faithfully and the only other shows that had me watching every week like that was X-Files, Game of Thrones & Sopranos. Such good shows..It’s different now with the amount of shows popping out but back in the day it meant more to watch wk to wk imo .. lowkey I watched 90210 like that too Lolol ..that’s rounds out my 5.

One of the things I love though is that our girl learns her lesson about fake Mulder’s and the next time she handcuffs him to the bed and threatens to shoot him so perhaps it would have been a bad idea for real Mulder to try it this way! 😂😂😂

Earlier in the episode Scully points out (Before knowing the Van Blundht can change forms) that in speaking for the female species, no one would willingly sleep with Eddie (Due to him being simple and unattractive). This episode was from 1997, but as far back as it goes, nothing from a man is creepy as long as they are handsome.
