I always love learning something new. If I’m being honest I never thought about how you could mount the chimney cover without having to punch a hole in the sides of it. Embarrassing as that is that’s why I watch this channel.
“You can know something some of the time - but you will never know everything all of the time”.
    Excellent job!! 👍

      Thanks!
I've definitely done plenty of work that I look back on and shake my head. Lol. I try to be better all the time. It has been a constant evolution.
I wish more people shared. We all do things a little different and can always learn something from somebody else.

I like the extra steps you take for a quality project. Sometime it is true that you get what you pay for.

Thanks! I’m always looking for creative ways to do a better job. It helps that I have a good relationship with my fabricators, so we can work through the problems and solutions together.

That’s a nice cap and a good video. Def don’t use silicone to attach it. A strong wind would pick it up eventually and cause serious damage to something or someone below. Personally, I don’t like the idea of putting a tapcons into the crown. On a horizontal surface like that I’d be concerned that water will make its way into the hole and freeze causing damage to the crown. I’d prefer to drill through the apron and into the side of brick. A little black paint on the screw and you would never see it from the ground. Nice video. Thank you.

What does a chimney cover like that cost to install parts and labor? Just a rough estimate please.

I wish for the same information. I got a quote from 'The Original Chimney Sweep' for $995 for outside mount SS cap and $189 installation.
I have a quote for 5StartChimney for total, 19x31 top mount cap!

I actually didn’t build this, just ordered to my specifications.
I just do chimney and fireplace restoration work now. It’s better money and I love the problem solving aspect. Also there isn’t any competition in it, none of the chimney companies in my area come from a masonry/bricklaying background, they’ve never even built the things they try to repair.

I really like the inside mounting flap. Where can I buy a cap like the one shown?? Please!
I assume no siicone during the mounting, only Capcon screws, 1/4"?

I buy them through national chimney supply. You would have to find a dealer in your area to purchase one. Just tapcons will hold it.

Where can I buy one for my fireplace?

I don’t really know, you have to be a dealer to buy from my suppliers, they won’t sell to the public. You may have to go through a chimney repair company.
