    Very well done. As a metal fabricator who works with precise measurements I can really appreciate how much care you take to make this. I want to start working with wood a bit more. My idea is to make humidor like yours but to clad the exterior in brass or copper in homage to my sheet metal working background.

    Absolutely beautiful work. As a cigar smoker I’d suggest a few minor things. Ditch the analog hygrometer (they are junk and inaccurate). No one uses florists foam so ditch those and make a sleeve for boveda packs in the top. Love the veneer work.

    • @catspawcustoms
      @catspawcustoms  2 года назад +4

      The guy who commissioned it wanted those for aesthetic purposes. I think his plan was always to stick boveda packs in the bottom along with a digital hygrometer. That is also why the other moisture packs can be removed without a trace that they were there.

    Did you coat the insides of your outer box with something to limit wood movement due to the veneer on the outside? Or is the cedar solid enough?

    • @catspawcustoms
      @catspawcustoms  2 года назад

      The Spanish cedar doesn’t move hardly at all, and the solid sides are only 7-8” wide so even if they did, it would be a minuscule amount. The veneer is about 1/32” thick so that will flex with the cedar as well. If the sides were thinner, I’d probably do a veneer layer on the inside to counteract cupping, but at 3/4” thick, they aren’t going to cup. The top and bottom panels were veneered onto plywood and the Spanish Cedar panels float. The end-grain on them was also sealed to keep as much moisture out.
