    What Jade has said about Anti-Satellite missile strike from India is completely wrong. India didn't create 40% more debris... India's contribution to all the debris in space is around 0.77%.
    About International Space Station, no, there was no threat to ISS from India's anti-satellite test.
    She is probably mis-remembering the 40% number which was actually the risk probability figure coming in news article, 44% to be more accurate.
    It is mentioned that the probability of debris hitting ISS has increased by 44%. You have to calculate the risk probability mathematically. It is "increase in %age" not actual probability. It is calculated from initial probability. It doesn't mean that now there is a 44% chance of a debris hitting the ISS. The previous probability was 1 in 10000, now you can calculate the current probability 1.44 in 10000 it is still very very small.
    Their is a protocol to safely maneuver the ISS in case when the probability of hitting a debris increases more than 1 in 10000. So the fact that after 5 weeks of the ASAT launch, no such maneuver is needed yet, means that the probability of a debris hitting the ISS is even less than 1 in 10000.

    hey Jaby, about the question "why would a country shoot its own missile in the space and create debris?",
    usually, all the big nations today have the tech to send its own satellites in space and they can easily equip it with military equipment, like installing missiles on those satellites so that they can attack any location from space, or to spy on enemy countries during war.
    Therefore, every powerful nation out there needs to have the tech to destroy these satellites if needed. USA, Russia, China, many others and now India has it too.

    Jade had a good point tho,..the galaxies colliding may not have us colliding with soenthing initially but it’s the gravitational pull of everything colliding with each other that will throw everything off,..think about it in a small space scale of the earth revolves around the sun, imagine another sun and its planets crossing its axis so earth pulls to this larger stars gravity enough to pull it out of orbit which would kill every living thing and send most of the planets in our system out of orbit of the sun, so it is total ahnialation .

    • @carloszestyboy2901
      @carloszestyboy2901 Год назад +11

      Most of the theories I’ve heard from astronomers and even NASA state that the collision of the Milky Way and Andromeda will likely be a very underwhelming event, for our solar system anyways. More of a slow transition than a cataclysmic event where the only real noticeable change will be a brighter and different night sky due to the exponentially more stars and gases present. Of course the sun will be a Red Giant by the time this occurs but our solar system will change very little.

    • @cameirusisu1024
      @cameirusisu1024 Год назад +3

      more likely no one on earth, could they theoretically exist for the entire event, would notice anything but a changing pattern of stars in the sky. The space between objects in a galaxy is so unimaginably vast, that the gravitational effects on individual objects would be imperceptible.

      @benmaxwell115 9 месяцев назад +1

      In reality, the chance of something coming close enough to throw the orbit off is tiny.
      What really happens is the huge gas clouds/nebula that have not produced stars in a long time due to being too sparse mingle with each other and through gravitational pull/turbulence suddenly start spawning LOADS of new stars.
      Provided you don't get hit by the dense middle of the other galaxy and become part of the accretion disk for one of the black holes, Galaxy collisions result in LOADS of new stars being formed and a few stars being flung off into the depths of space via gravitational slingshots, but this is less common than the stars forming.

      YES! This is something I’ve always pondered. Looking at both Relativity and Quantum Mechanics, the one true agreeable facet is that, in the most horribly basic terms, everything very tiny seems to look EXACTLY like everything very large. The layout and behavior of atoms VERY closely resembles the layout and behaviors of planets and galaxies, the fibrous weave of brain neurons seems to look INSANELY similar to the fibrous weave of galaxy superclusters. Hell, out own cells are tiny living creatures inside of a much larger creature...maybe we are are just tiny cells inside a much larger creature. The universe? God? Who knows, but it's just fascinating to think about the possibilities, no matter how absurd. Thank you for sharing your thoughts! 🙂

    12:21 yes when you look at a star you're looking at the star as it was years to hundreds of years ago. The farthest thing you can see with the naked eye is the Andromeda Galaxy. Even then you can't see it very well you have to be in a very dark conditions and it's very dim. It is 2 million light years away so you're looking at an object as it was 2 million years ago.

    You are right Jaby, observing different parts of galaxy or universe, in general, we are looking at different time zone. The universe is under accelerated expansion ever since Big Bang (Hate that word). So the farther you look, the younger the universe you are looking at. Because it takes millions or billions of years for light to reach us, our observations of faraway galaxies are from the time when they were closer and younger.

    To answer your question at 12: 34, yes.
    Imagine its 12:00 pm and you see a star from which it takes light 60 minutes to reach you. That means what you are seeing at 12:00 is not actually the star at 12:00 but the star at 11:00.
    It's fascinating to think about the fact that what you are looking of is a spectrum of history when you look up into the sky.
