I have the 2021 RKS, love the bike, but the stock handlebars suck, the seat is hard as a rock, no highway pegs, the turn signals are the old florescent bulbs and no windshield...... for close to 28k , you should already have these things on the bike.
Just get a Road King standard.
Respect your honesty and also your having ridden your RKS for 7K miles (street cred is far better than some dude who test rode it for 20 minutes and tried to speak to its merits).
Thanks man! Only had it since about September. And still not riding as much as I would like or normally do. Winter months holding me back
A Road King is meant to be Old School - don't worry about plugging in - just Ride. Nice review
To a certain extent need to plug the phone in to run gps consistently 😂
Paper maps are old skool but Satnav is handy as is heated riding kitand a USB socket is pretty much standard on most bikes now.
I love my 2019 RKS. It's a gorgeous bike. I had a standard road king for 14 years, then I tried out a street glide special then a road glide ultra CVO, but I pulled the trigger on the RKS in 2019 and it's the best decision I've made so far. The stage 2 makes a massive difference...night and day and it makes the S&S MK45 exhaust so much better. I got the pushrods blacked out at the same time. I went with a 12 inch HD bars and I really like them. I'm 6"3. I use the bike to commute and have no trouble whatsoever in splitting lanes. I did put Wilburs suspension in recently and it's definitely better than stock - not perhaps as night/day as the cam, but very noticeable. My occasional passenger thinks it made a night/day change though and she's happier on the back.
Really good review man, also really enjoyed that video intro. Also, LOL at the layers you got going. Winters are no joke here in MD/VA.
I always feel like the Michelin Man while riding during the winter 😂
Great review of the bike!👍🏾
I have a 2019 RKS. I really like the bike and I agree with you on some of the chrome pieces. Some of which I'm not sure why the kept some items chrome with most of it being backed out. Thanks for sharing. Ride safe. 👊👍🇺🇸
Good review ! I’ve been thinking about my next bike in a couple years , and I’ve been bouncing between a Road Glide and a Challenger - but maybe a Road King should also be on my radar … I really like having a fairing , , but who knows what the future me will think 😎
After being on RGs and E-glides since '03 I finally got fed up with all the electronic tech. 9/19 I bought a 2020 RKS and I freakin love it! I put a Windsplitter on and made some covert brackets that lock the shield to the bike and make it adjustable fore and aft. HD lower fairings and a chopped tour pak. Went on an annual run from Vegas to Colorado Springs with a bunch of firemen a few years back and a handful of the young new bikers showed up with their rolling tech platforms. Those guys spent so much time dickin around with their gizmos and gadgets that they forgot to enjoy the ride. And they all like to turn those silly radios up full blast. ANNOYING!!! I kissed tech gone after that. The only tech I need is a speedo. RKS... Great bike!
Someone else getting the simplicity of the ride 😎
Exact reason I got my 21 Special! Old school ride, classic look. Many options other then RKS. Chose a Road King Classic, Road or Street Glide, if u want all the modern tech on your bike. I’m 62, 6’4” and 275, love handlebars they set up perfect for me. Added a Corbin snake skin seat and 17” windshield, sets off the bike perfectly. We all have our ideal bike, this is mine, keep it simple, and enjoy being on the road!
Very good review, always appreciate others views!
Ride safe Brothers and sisters!
Good review. Love my 21 RKS. I like having the little pops of chrome on it with pushrods and gas caps etc. Stands out a little better in my opinion with a little chrome against the black
I just bought a 2023 and started modding. First i put a 14” ape on it with heated Kahuna’s )i put my mirrors upside down but saw nothing). Then a Saddlemen SDC Pro, a HD Windsplitter, SE Street Cannon, rear crashbars, and….a ext brake pedal,….this thing is to high and to close! I love the RKS and the few chrome things is ok with me….
Nice review. That may be in the running for my daily rider.
Awesome choice. Really just have to know how important a fairing is to you
Agree about the push rod covers and cam blocks, they should be gloss black. Of course HD will accessorise for you for a ludicrous price.
I really enjoyed this video. I like seeing the bike, and not just 10 minutes of someone else's point of view while riding. Hey, who made that fairing? It's sweet!
Thanks man! It’s Memphis shades!
Some black oxide on some of the parts instead of chrome might look good, I think. When you see the finish on some of the 60 year old Harley they have a patina I like.
She's still a beauty!
Less bike, more money, it is very appealing, slammed suspension, limited weight before u bottom out, I like it a lot. But still prefer a standard rk or ultra limited, 114 has plenty of power. Hot rod, cruiser, kinda touring bike, definitely need 2 or more 🏍 lol.
Hi can ask where you got that rear rack. Do you have a link. Looks awesome
A good looking Harley Davidson
Its a great touring Bike for old school purists that dont need the GPS, Stereo, Infortainment stuff...Just pick what aftermarket shield you want?
Good review until the Millennial whining started about lacking plug ins. Next time buy a street glide if you want all the amenities! 🤦🏼♂️
Just me thinking about long hauls. Most of the time don’t use it. But when I’m doing over a 1k miles in a day, I need a gps and my phone to be charged. Only reason mentioned it.
@@roadkinglobo Its this younger generation...This babyboomer doesnt understand them either..🤷🤦
@@FatBoyBob Sheesh! The guy just said the bike should have a charging port and he's 100% correct. My 21 Street Bob has one and it's not even a touring bike. Time for you old timers to come into the 21st century!
👍
I am stuck between this and the street glide special, how do you find the gauges on the tank
I personally prefer it. I don’t like having all of them in my field of view. If I need to see what’s up, I’ll just take a quick look down. And it’s only just out of my field of view as it is, so when I look down at the gauge, the road is still in my peripheral.
How much is a windshield and which one is best. Bike looks great in black on black but it’s a road king so wouldn’t even test ride it without a shield.
Harley splitter windshield about $500
Nice bike! What fairing did you add to it?
Running the Memphis Shades Road Warrior with the 9inch windshield
Waiting for full frontal view of the fairing but to no avail till the end of the video. Deal breaker.
Gidday from downunder KrakensGarageAdventures sent me over..
Thanks for joining man!
Where are you from
Living in the Southwestern part of Virginia!
With all that stuff blacked out on the bike would have looked weird with the tank emblem being chrome…
I completely disagree with you and think the touches of chrome make it stand out.
Nice, but that red wire looks stupid
Only the start of the custom work. Not the best looking without being the only red thing, but it will transform over time.
I have a 2020 RKS with a 131 kit in it redid the handle bars, what kind of windshield do you have
