    This is a nice design. Only thing I think I might change is using some t- track on the side to hold your angle block. You could still mark locations for specific degrees, but that would make it infinitely variable. That way, you could not only use your standard presets, but work on any piece you might be asked to help with. Just a thought.

      Thank you sir! Adding some tracks and creating specific angles and locations is a great idea. I will definitely add some thing of the sort in the next iteration.
      I do use this for various blades and thickness so it definitely needs to stay very versatile.

    How thin you file the edge before ht??
    Is it possible to file a thin edge after ht??

      Hi there! I try to get the main bevel to 0.7 - 0.8 mm. I do the secondary bevel after heat treatment.
      It’s possible to get it thinner then that if you use a second file, less aggressive than the one in the video.
      It’s very possible to work after heat treatment; but not with files!! It will ruin them very quickly.
      Check out my axe restoration video, I do a similar job with sand paper on a long flat piece of plywood.
      You can definitely do that if you don’t have access to a belt grinder.
      Cheers

    could you share the dimensions of the file ramp, please

      @tauftools  Год назад

      Hi, if I understand you correctly then the dimensions change for different angels. I move the pivot back and forth, back to get a lower angle and forward to get a steeper angle.
      Also I change the block that holds the blade if I need a much lower angle I put a thicker block.
