It took me 43 years to finally watch this movie my brother and his friends raved about back in the late 70s. The movie was very inspiring with hope, perseverance, patience and of course Faith. I would say this Christian intervention is more needed then ever now.

Wow. Legendary. I go to Times Square Church from time to time (founder by David Wilkerson aka “Preacher”) and it’s so cool to learn this is how it all started. And it’s clear how it is continuing so strong and authentically in The Lord to this day! ❤✝️☝️

Known about this movie from the early 90s. First time watching the movie today brought tears, thankfulness, appreciation for the gospel/Jesus and all the good hearted preachers, labourers that have layed their lives down so that , hurting, addicted, hopeless, anger, unloving, bitter, people can know the true forgiving, hopeful, love, true caring, Lord Jesus, the Father and Holy Spirit. Powerful!

I dated someone with a story similar to Nicky Cruz, during his “before” days. He was a violent criminal, with serious mental health and substance abuse issues. But he was also handsome and charming, and I was very young and naive, so I was taken in at first. He had done prison time before I met him and again after we broke up, and he became an Aryan leader. Then a near-death experience scared him into a spiritual about-face. He turned his life around, along with many, many other lives. He stayed clean, sober and out of prison throughout the latter part of his life, and helped scores of others to do the same. And he donated his time and talent to help local artists, many of whom were African-American. To me, his transformation was nothing short of a miracle. Not gonna lie, I hated his guts for a long, long time. But now I am proud to have known him.
Blessed be his faith and courage! May God save more souls through Lord Jesus Christ! Amen

I wish nickys movie 'a thousand pieces' the screen adaptation of his book 'run baby run' had the funding to be made. The story of redemption an good triumphing over evil in the heart of a stone cold gang banger, has more relevance today than it did even in the 50s 60s 70s an onward. Teenagers are more lost today in every way than at any other time in our history. I speak as a very bad ex gang leader, our kids need help.

I just wish the filmmakers, Don Murray and star Pat Boone (who was the driving force behind the making of the film version) kept the 1958 setting that the actual events took place in, instead of updating the setting to the then-contemporary 1970s.

I always thought David Wilkerson was a bit of a square and lived a sheltered life growing up, but he had a burning passion getting people saved to know Christ. I didn’t agree with him on everything, but he did what he thought was right and succeeded.
Yes, this movie is pretty cheesy and cliched and Erik Estrada playing a gang member as well. But it’s still uplifting.

With the world and its, "messed up" attitudes and values needed, needs and will need a, "messiah". Jesus Christ is real. He becomes an intermediary to the father God when we accept Him as the one who paid the fine, for our sins. We then can get baptized, showing God and mankind that we mean business.
My dad used to give me quizzical answers when I asked about love. "Lurve" he would say, was, "overrated" apparently. When I watched this movie, the preacher talking about love - is what did it for me. I watched police in Hong Kong pulling the hair of Triads with .45 pistols, thinking: "Hah. They've got 'em now!" (they were tipped-off, right next to where my dad worked). There's so much we can learn in life. We had better learn, how to do what is right - not wrong.

I got suckered into attending this movie back in the 70's. I lived in a poor part of town and there were posters about a free movie. Had I known it was a hard core religious proselytizing movie, myself and a lot of people wouldn't have gone to see it. If the pastor went out of his way to conceal the nature of the movie then why trust religious figures at all? It was a true bait and switch. There was an uncomfortable moment when the pastor asked the members of the audience to go up to the stage and give their souls to Christ. Me and the others were mortified at being put on the spot. I'll never forget how I was manipulated into going to this terrible movie.
