Brighty winning the inaugural Jason Richards Memorial Trophy will always be very special. Was good friends with Jase and still have close ties with his family and Brad Jones Racing.
@@browhatthatinsane34 It's always been a horse track. They are just using the excuse that they want to develop the test grounds further. However that is just pure BS. It will be developed in a few years time. If they told everyone outright there would be massive backlash.
9:22 adding onto this one as well that McLaughlin had the option to do the same thing SVG did the day before and box him in, but instead gave him loads of room. Just shows Scotty's class.
RIP Pukekohe such amazing memories through out the decades from amazing club days watching the likes of Scott Dixon, Craig Beard, Greg Murphy, Jason Richards, Scott Mclaughlin, as young teens cutting their teeth, to the likes of motorsport gods like Denny Hume, Chris Amon, Bruce Mclaren, Kenny Smith, Jim Richards and the many F1 drivers and World Champions that raced the NZ Grand Prix. Pukekohe was not just a important part of NZ motorsport history but world motorsport history. To let it go without so much as a whimper because it was kept quiet by the jockey club is a true crime and they will find a few horse races a year wont be the money maker they think it will be and it will fail although I think the goal in the end is to subdivide it for houses.
Too true. I hate to see first Baypark (the original touring car track, not the speedway) lost and now Puke, it's very sad. I have great memories of Mini 7s three abreast across the flyover at Baypark, V8s flying down the Puke hill... NZ motorsport at its best, but sadly no more :(
The pet food racing industry is dying on it's hooves in New Zealand. Race courses have been closed recently and clubs are having to merge to try and survive. Plus there are all the ancillary businesses in Pukekohe that support and are supported by the motorsport industry and fraternity. That will all dry up. I would not be at all surprised if the nag brigade didn't go under in short order without the money the motorsport track brings in.
Hope they draw similar crowds and the same amount of money, or more coin is guaranteed annually. Seems ridiculous. Bowl Eden Park for a dog park next. Cake tin onto an aviary?
I honestly don't understand why the 'burnouts' up the top of an 'iconic list'. The top 2 I'd say should be Scotty's first race win (especially as its a record). Jason bright winning the first Jason Richards trophy should've been number one just for the emotions alone. Other moments that could've been added were either Paul Morris's or Fabian Coulthards flip. Or when SVG ran up the ass of someone in pitlane.
Jason Bright winning the inaugural JASON Richards Memorial Trophy for BJR SHOULD be. Number 1! No question
Yep. Best moment in the NZ round.
100%
Not in chronological order then is it?

Thank You Pukekohe for all the magical moments and memories
You will be missed
Stupid decision
Yeah, turn it into a Horse track!?
Let's all protest animal cruelty so the skids can continue

Maaaaate. Lowndes crash over the hill and then getting his car repaired at a local panel shop overnight Was pretty special.

Means Scott is sooooo boring
@@ghostfacedkilla2849 okay 😂
Great kiwis whipping ozzies so easily they gotta have a banter with each other.
parking in Scott was pretty grubby act and came back to bite him didn’t get near Scott for the rest of his time in supercars
The guy is a grub what did you expect 😂
Greg Murthy’s second Home this place was amazing
La alegría de los ganadores!! 👍👍🇪🇦🇦🇷
As a Kiwi I am saddened that Pukekohe Park Raceway is ending 😔
IT ending??
Yes it's ending in April 2nd 2023
@@BenWoodMotorsports14 WHY?? 😭😭😭😭
It's Because of the Horse racing/ Government and the nerve to rip the track because of it
@@BenWoodMotorsports14 can't blame Cindy I don't think. She is in fact not actually a horse. But at the right angle........

2016 battle with SVG and Whincup and the actual battle from 2018 instead of the podium would've been nice
It'll be hard to feel sorry for the horse racing club when the move backfires on them, and it will. Horse Racing won't keep it alive long term.

650 horsepower is better than 1
Was just checking the comments to see if I could say this, well played, beat me.
Surprised the big accident of 2005 didnt make it
Jason bright brad jones and jamie whincup all 3 when either jason or jamie win it's emotional because for jamie it's beat mate same with bright
I wish Scott was still in Supercars! SVG needs some competition. Davo and ADP just aren't fast enough.
Well year later they are both gone.
Was great in the old days when it was free to air , wouldnt have a clue whos leading the championship these days . Thank god for moto gp .
