It'd be interesting if someone did a thesis on the interconnection of the Dunedin Sound and Krautrock. There seems to be a lot of similarities, both sonically, and thematically, in the construction of the songs...
@@bargainbassist Definitely channeling some Dinger/Rother here!! Really get the Neu! Hallogallo vibe from this track. Love it. The live version from the "In-A-Live" EP is my favorite.
the audio is from the desk the guitar presence was huge in the room eell at least where I was standing right in front of peter and whatever happens next I blame these guys
I loved Chicks, but this gig was a disappointment. I was over by the right side of the PA - and it sounded like crap. Perhaps Peter's amp wasn't miked up, but his endless dicking around with the sound suggests to me that the PA wasn't the problem. By contrast when I saw The Clean play at Sammys (a horrible venue) back in the '90's, 'Point That Thing' was an all-consuming monster that obliterated everything else.
Great great song. With atrocious stage presence. If you’re not into it hang it up. Playing with the amplifier, back to the audience, drum through the motions. I’ll go back to audio mode.
Hearing this song at CGBGs was one of the highlights of my life.
RIP Hamish, say hi to Peter for us all !
much love to NZ legends at this most difficult time.
Superb song. Iconic band. Just brilliant.
Sublime. True. Thx Andy.
The video never does these guys justice! RIP Hamish! Sad day for NZ Music.
R.I.P Hamish and Peter
I was at this gig, magical.
"Magical" is exactly the right word.
RIP sir. Legendary.
That was actually pretty gorgeous.
This is brilliant!! Just like it used to be.Small room, too many people, mediocre sound.Love these guys! Thanks for this!

Thanks for posting this. Were you filming from the fire place? (I was stood in front of you.) One of the best nights I've had in years.

Always handled a delicious take to Velvet Underground, make no mistake, Mainland, make no mistake
RIP Hamish.

Cool connection. And I definitely get an art-punk vibe from The Clean. Kinda like a kiwi Wire.

Do you really think this sounds good?

it sounds amazing

@@michaelstevenson470 If you read Shayne Carters autobiography you get the impression Peter would be fiddling with the amp regardless
@@leercup is Amp a metaphor? Think he may have amped himself for the concert

That's the beauty of them though. They are all fully getting into the song.
Kent Frederickson : Long Live the Clean. And RIP PG.
lol. PG is the unhinged spirit of this song, and him playing with his amp all the way thru is perfect imo.
