This is what I was taught by Campus Crusade, which was taught by someone who had the whole Bible memorized (and was tested to prove it). This method uses repetition as well as the senses of sight (reading), hearing (out loud), touch (hand writing) -- doing as many of these at the same time as possible. When you read your own handwriting you are putting the memory in a slightly different place in your brain so that it is no longer directly associated with the printed font but also with your handwriting font.
    1. Read it out loud (sight and hearing but also your face and mouth muscles are involved.)
    2. Read it out loud again while you write it by hand, not computer (sight, hearing, touch, and muscles)
    3. Read what you wrote out loud (sight and hearing and muscles)
    4. Say it by memory (hearing and muscles)
    5. Write it from memory while you say it out loud (sight, hearing, touch, and muscles)

I love the bible memory app. The phone app actually makes a noise when you mess up so you can stop and think about it. The computer is different, Though I wish it was the same. The PC doesn't make a noise or anything, so five words down I look up and find I typed a letter wrong messing up everything. At tad frustrating. So, I have to use my phone to actually memorize it. Still, quite a blessing. Maybe there is a way to set the PC for sound?

    Just found your video. 👏👏👏
Been using an expanded MAJOR SYSTEM to memorize the Bible ADDRESS. (NUMZI App)
I started with PSALM 119. Then REVELATION…… and still working on the REST.,,,,
Wrote out and made cartoon cards for EACH verse with the SPECIFIC VERSE MAJOR SYSTEM.
(After I looked up EVERY word in STRONG’S and also cross referenced.)
THEN for Psalm 119 I put it to music to EVENTUALLY learn the Hebrew.
א-What’s it all about ALFIE (for ALEPH)
    ב-Beth (by KISS) for BETH
ג-Gimme Gimme Gimme a man after midnight for (GIMEL)
Then other books I keep VERSE characters & CHAPTER characters SEPARATE!!!!!
STILL working on this (Dawn Birch Bible memorization methods.)
But ULTIMATELY hope to learn how to do this more effectively!
IT IS A LOT of WORK!!! But I’m finding with the MAJOR SYSTEM….. I can “tailor make” some verses. Like MANY verse 12’s (ISAIAH 14:12) especially sticks because I use DawN (my name)
DEUTERONOMY I use DisneY Major System Characters for CHAPTERS , Then the verses
LUKE- I use STAR WARS MAJOR SYSTEM CHARACTERS for CHAPTERS
JOHN- I use famous JOHN major system characters
    John 1- John Doe
    John 2 - John wayNe
    John 5- John eLway
    John 9 - John Boy (Walton’s)
LOOKING FOR A COMMUNITY THAT WANTS TO DO IT TOGETHER!!!

I don't know if there is a "recommended format" - sorry! I think what's best is what works for you. One of the reasons why we have a lot of false churches, false pastors and prophets, haters of the gospel, widespread immorality etc. Is because most of us christians don't read the Bible, not at all. Whatever the pastor says is final🤧🤧. And it's a big problem in west Africa especially, that now so called christians are falling away, embracing Islam and even Aethism. I know a female American preacher on TikTok who became a Buddhist yogi and she's now leading people astray. I'm always in tears when I see videos of christians being challenged in apologetics and by unbelievers who read and scrutinize every letter of the bible and theyre always being made fun of because they don't even know what is being discussed as per the bible.
Christians who read the Bible would understand that certain practices accepted by society should not be tolerated but look what we have, a battle between morality and immorality in schools, firing christian teachers cos they're a danger to the innocent kids but embracing certain weird practices in these schools. I'm hurt. And I'm tired

I can’t remember much of anything, how in the world would I remember the books of the Holy Scriptures. And may I ask if you know what each verse actually is saying, in it’s original Greek format? I study with a man, Jim brown, he is a true man of God, has spent over five decades just studying Greek, Jesus life and times, all the theologians of antiquity, can tell you every word in New Testament that was incorrectly transcribed, he has been a blessing for me, I could read the Bible, just couldn’t make a lot of sense of it,, for instance, John 3:16 ,,, it has a mistake in the translation, Whosoever is not a Greek word, the translators just threw it in there, because Greek is near impossible to translate accurately, Jesus did not die for whosoever, he died for the wife, the church, the word so in that verse is a verb, it says how much he loved his bride, he so loved his wife, God predestined the entire bride of Christ, all things are ordained and predestined by God, before the foundations of the earth were formed, Romans 8:29, that means, GOD IS IN CONTROL OF ALL, WE ARE WHAT YOU MIGHT CALL SPIRITUAL ROBOTS, WE CANT CALL ON GOD, WE CANT ACCEPT CHRIST UNLESS GOD PREDESTINED US TO DO SO, GOD HAS ORDAINED MOST PEOPLE AS VESSELS OF WRATH FIT FOR DESTRUCTION, it’s sad to hear all these preachers now teaching a easy Jesus, it’s not easy, we must die daily ,, pick up our cross daily, obey God, only through Christ and Gods mercy can we do this, and it takes a lifetime to conform to Jesus likeness, we reach perfection the day we die.

    • @BibleMemoryGoal
      @BibleMemoryGoal  3 года назад

You may think you have a bad memory, but you don't. Most people just don't work on their memory and they give up because they don't think they can do it. They can. And sure, no translation is perfect, but that's not a good reason to throw away the idea of memorizing Scripture.
