Another great review Alan of a vehicle which goes without saying I agree with you all the way. Packed with fun and gorgeous design, not to mention the awesome company which joined you on the roadtrip, all looked very special

Such a shame that SA only gets the auto. The manual is the better car.

Technically, I would agree with you Richard. However, as I say in my review, I would personally choose the auto for purely practical reasons

MotorMatters The 2.0 Skyactiv has such a spread of torque, it’ll pull from 1500 cleanly in any gear...even 6th, so with the manual you don’t have to use the gearbox to keep up with traffic. You can skip 2 gears no problem, short shift everywhere and use the torque to make progress. So, combined with the world’s best currently available gear shift and light progressive clutch, it’s no drama in heavy traffic at all. And I live in inner city Melbourne so I know what crap traffic looks like. It’s a breeze in heavy traffic....but it’s much more fun when you do decide it’s time to spank it.

I can't argue with your logic there Richard. You'll note that I tested the roadster a year or so back and agreed with everything you say so can only note that the RF has all of that plus the added safety and practicality. Maybe it's an age thing but I just seem to prefer auto's. I'd take the manual anyday if it was only going to be my weekend toy.

MotorMatters Sure it’s personal preference...but I think I’m about your age! LOL
