Ode to Joy as the anthem of CIS... Perhaps, I'm watching the first video with this magnificent song, thanks so much that you've found it! Greetings from Russia!

Irony being this was the last match the former Soviet Union played in its former form.

Very interesting how they wanted to keep Soviet Union alive, but under a totally different name. I didn't know what CIS or SNG stands for back then. Also, when you look at the players, you can see only a russian players. Really an amazing ''union'' of countries. We had a very similiar situation here as well with SFRJ also known as Yugoslavia. Mostly serbian players were in squad.

The CIS stood for the Commonwealth of Independent States. This was the USSR minus the 3 baltic states (Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania). The CIS was mainly an East Slavic team (Belarusians, Russians and Ukrainians). The only exception was a Georgian player from the Caucasus (Kakhaber Tskhadadze).

Feels odd hearing scotland the brave rather than flower of scotland

I guess they wanted to stay traditional rather than the 60s pop song.

*60's Folk song* corrected that for you. STB has its merits, but Flower of Scotland with a packed and invested Hampden, magic. Love Ode to Joy as well.
