- Exarchia is a district of Athens that is home to leftists and anarchists, poor people and intellectuals. Greece's economic crisis hit it hard. But solidarity and a culture of autonomy mean people have got together to help themselves and each other.

i regret to inform you that our new government kicked out/arrested most of the anarchists/leftists/´´intellectuals´´ (haha) and shut down most of the illegally occupied buildings where they hid criminals, stored weapons and produced narcotics. no more exarcheia slum!

Thank you very much for uploading this! Great reporting and good job on enlightening people on the fact that this is not a slum; the fact that there are places where people still show solidarity with eachother. People seem to forget that certain things in life can not be bought with money!

The people you talked with seem like the best people.They are good people and they believe that others are good natured too.This is not the case though and the anarchism in athens has nothing to do with they represent.Innocent people are getting hurt cause a lot of ill natured people love this chaos.Generally although the vibe in athens is like this , most of the people don t even know what anarchism means.Last time i went there my window was broken and next to my car there was a fire.Not a tourist friendly area for sure

This area needs to be pacified immediately before it turns into something more violent. They need to be jailed for the heinous crimes and arbitrary executions.
Not if I can help it. I’m going soon, bringing reinforcements for my comrades. In time we will expand outside the district, bringing our culture to the rest of the city and expelling the crooked government, however from the start we’ll heavily increase defence and safety within our freed territory. Just try to step foot in and arrest our people, you’ll be met with high levels of resistance.
