This makes a lot of sense even though we were told the whole vessel was "dustified" and this is clearly just a fully intact piece of plastic that is somehow buried part of the way and standing straight up in the underwater sand for some reason

When something like this implodes, the entire thing doesn't get magically obliterated. If you look at the design, there is essentially a welded seam down the middle running horizontally, and the forward capsule is attached to the body. These are both structural weakpoints. When it 'imploded' the gas inside the sub would've rushed out, and water rushed in. This would've caused the weak points to disassemble, but it wouldn't make the whole thing turn to dust, or crush like a can under a steamroller. Whatever wasn't immediately broken under the initial implosion would've just settled to the seabed, as we see in the pic. It's the same reason why the Titantic, which had plenty of air trapped in it as it went down, didn't become crushed or obliterated either. Certain body segments get depressed and deformed, but the overall structure survives just fine. Whoever initially said the sub would've been 'dustified' had no idea how depressurization in marine environments works.
Water doesn't accelerate that quickly even under that pressure, it just has to much mass. The simulations don't take into account the acceleration delay of water....just the psi which is to much of an oversimplification.

So it imploded at 900? Mph and yet there were big prices left? Somebody oversimplified the math and the simulations , and the implosion was much slower than people think.
OceanGate Expeditions CEO Stockton Rush said he didn't want to hire "50-year-old white guys" with military experience to pilot his Titanic submersible because they weren't "inspirational". Rush believed that younger, more motivated people would be more inspirational and better suited to the company's new undertakings. Title of this video is misleading, as are some of the reporter's statements. The wreckage visible here on the seabed was of course recovered last year after the video was shot. The large white panels are cowlings, and served pretty much the same non-structural functions as the fenders and hood of a car. These cowlings and lots of other externally-mounted equipment were peripheral to the pressure hull that imploded. As you may recall, the pressure hull consisted of a cylindrical carbon fiber composite mid-section with a hemispherical titanium dome on each end. If I remember correctly, both of those domes (minus the transparent porthole window) were also recovered from the seabed last year. They didn't appear to have suffered much damage. The weak link was the cylindrical mid-section. This composite section had always been a very controversial aspect of the Titan's design, and it is this section which is presumed to have been crushed into tiny bits when the implosion occurred. I imagine that -- at the moment the structural integrity of the mid-section was lost -- the pressure differential (more than 4000 psi) would have necessarily caused the two very strong and heavy titanium end domes to be propelled into the center of the inhabited space, probably even causing them to "clap together" in the tremendously-violent and chaotic implosion.

It looks like the sub took a nose dive after they lost power some submarine pros say without the thrusters the sub would have tilted straight up and down like a pencil with all bodies on top of each other in the sub with no lights falling straight down and with all of that weight on the porthole window would have cracked a seal and thats what caused the implosion it makes sense but today it came out that the titan sub was struck my lightning and that damaged the hull and stockton rush never fixed it but we will never know for sure!!
It's possible, but takes alot of assumptions to get there, when a more parsimonious explanation would suffice. I'm always wary when people, even experts, construct a convoluted sequence of events to explain something, especially when there's 0 evidence to support any of those individual links in the chain. As you said, we'll likely never know.

According to the last communications before the implosion, everything was "all good". There is no evidence that they lost power, only that all communication with the submersible was lost just moments after they messaged that they dropped 2 weights (to slow descent as they were getting close to the bottom of the ocean). They were fine one minute and then lights out.

youre looking at the outer shell which was mostly cosmetic/held some wires and lines in place. this was not at all under any pressure difference... it stuck together... its almost like the body panels of a car... absolutely no structural integrity... all for looks and other odds and ends.

Quit blaming the CEO. He might have been the ultimate reason for this failure but there were several safety red flags put out there which none of the passengers heeded. Except maybe for the kid, who went "for his dad"...poor kid knew things were not right.
Let us all believe and live with the notion that a sudden implosion killed all the passengers instantly...at least more quickly than they could feel pain. None of us will know what those final moments feel like until we go thru them ourselves.
If one end of that tuna can imploded and the front half just floated away that means they all died a painful death that lasted for seconds not instantaneously.

Asystoled, I totally agree with you! That does not in any way resemble an implosion! That looks like it was butten in half or a missile or something went right through the middle and left that other half almost untouched and undisturbed!
Some submarine pros say when the titan lost power she lost her thrusters with it and without those it would cause the titan to tilt straight up and down like a pencil and when that happened all 5 of those guys were stacked on top of each other in the dark shooting to the bottom very fast they were all pressing against the porthole cover and window and that much weight cracked a seal that caused the implosion look at the tail cone it looks fine and when they brung up the pieces the porthole window was gone from the steel ring it looks like they hit the bottom fast and the porthole gave way!!
