Id say one of the best ways to get a large amount of nook miles (if you're good at grinding for bells) is to upgrade your house multiple times. When i would use treasure islands, i would upgrade my house every day leading up till three stars so i could get both land and water scaping immediately.

Yeah diving in winter is such good money with all the rare stuff this time of year! Like 50k per 15 ish minutes of diving... so in an hour thatd 200k easy not counting crops/fruits/bells tree/money rock...
