- In today’s video we go about lifting our own silage. We started Friday evening and Saturday but Saturday evening we had a disaster the jag lifted an arm off the rake and nearly done an unbelievable amount of damage but luckily it only set the knives back in the drum. So after we fixed that Saturday night we finished lifting our silage on sunday. Don't worry about running into the only thing in the field bro, just watched a young fella forget to lift the arms, went straight through a set of dry stone piers, right off the rower and with the power of the tractor, made the tractor come back on its and climb what was left of the wall. Now that's what you call, not getting paid. Your doing a great job Eric, practice make perfection.

The Good Lord was looking after you all, that could have been horrific. I love watching from across the pond here in the US. I grew up on a farm and now working and living in a more city environment I really miss it. All of my ancestors are from Ireland and the UK area and immigrated sometime in the late 1600's to early 1700's but somehow when I see the countryside on videos like yours it feels like a little tug of homesickness... maybe one day... maybe one day. Those things must run in our blood somehow. Anyway, stay safe and God Bless you all!!!

It was a serious blockage on the Jag but to be fair it could have been worse, machines can be fixed or replaced, a life can't. I always try to remember this when things go wrong.

We have same rake an 880 and we have drilled straight through and put bolts through the arms , Jessica is a great girl she will make some farmer a great wife she’s a tough lady , father Phil is a good man on that harvester there’s no bulling and tearing just steady ,Great video Phil your self and Laura from farming at laforge are the best you tubers

This video took me right back to the seventies / eighties when I was silage making, if you use machinery at some stage things go wrong. I was using a Jag 60 trailed harvester without a metal detector, and yes I have had some big smashes ! plus the occasional jackknife towing a trailer behind the harvester. Happy Days.
