They do that so people talk about Minecraft on social media, but they can add all the mobs, just not at once, they can just do a vote to add a mob faster than the other ones, it’s going to have the same effect.
Mob votes should introduce 3 new mobs, then everyone votes on which gameplay is leaked first lmao
Thats literally genius why can't they do that??
I think that’s what the mob votes were supposed to be, all 3 would eventually be added but the vote decided who would be first
Then there would be no point for a mob vote also remember its not that easy as theres two versions bedrock and Java and like Java is on Java engine, bedrock is on bedrock engine and both of these are different engines so they can't just copy paste it to another version and also Minecraft needs to work for people that have a weak computer there are also bugs, redesigning, mechanics, animations, sounds and probably even more

Eight-sided square literally just stated the opposite in his most recent mob vote thing, and he made the mobs.
Edit and expansion of my stated point against this video: I'm no game dev, and I do agree Mojang is quite a slow company, but that also might be for the best. Despite Minecraft always changing, for a game that is still relatively simple, it isn't good for constant new things. There are already so many complaints about overcomplicating the game and everything, and if they kept adding like ten mobs and a hundred blocks a year, the game wouldn't take long to be SUPER crazy large to the point where it isn't as fun. Also, a few other points while I'm at it. They have 3 games in progress, each completely different (dungeons have stopped development but rumor is they have started a new one(, and hundreds of partnerships, toys, books, and advertising things a year. Along with this, you have to remember that at least half the team WERE mod developers, notable KingBdogs, the creator of the Aether mod and one of the sole makers of the Deep Dark. When you look at the situation and remember there are ten scrapped features for every one that makes it in, Mojang is a bit slower than other companies, but it isn't necessarily a bad thing for simple games like Minecraft.
People have short attention span they igore the end part because a mod creator defending mojang??? Impossible

Honestly as a games designer myself, you have no idea how easy it is. It’s entirely cubes so the measurements & texturing are very easy to make precise. Making the actual texture takes about 30 mins at most for a trained designer, the only reason it’d take longer is if the software is taking its sweet ass time loading & shit.
Then you make the model, which should take a trained developer maybe 3hrs, then add a rigid body, that should take 20 mins at most, then you combine all of it together that’s another hour simply because of upload times, for them it’s probably like 5 mins I’d imagine if they have descent computers. Then you have to program it which is the only thing I can see taking longer than 3 hrs. Then you have to package it, test it and upload it to the actual game as an update. And btw this is for if they had a single trained employee working on it.
So all in all of the top of my head one person working on it with breaks should take about maybe 6-10hrs & 50-ish mins + recommended 30 min breaks every 6 hrs so that’s maybe 7-11hrs & 20mins roughly overall. Guy did it in 16hrs without trying too hard. And bare in mind I already have 5 years in the field, but my skill levels in actual designing are less than average because I’m a researcher, narrative writer & sound designer as well, so picture an actually trained professional games designer without the other tasks working on their own can probably a mod in less than that, and the team working on these mods have multiple of these professionals with an excess of sound designers & programmers on standby so the games designers don’t even need to program the fucking thing.
It really shouldn’t take more than half a day per asset if they’re actually working and not sitting there making excuses until someone higher up walks in.
Edit; oh and for sound design considering what I hear the mobs sound like it would literally be a case of me going “hrrn” into a mic, changing the tone/decibels for a few different variations and then adding the audio into the same asset & having someone code a few lines that basically say have this animal play the audio randomly. And then call it a day as the designer packages it.

Okay it makes sense that adding new biomes, sub biomes, and changing world generation mechanics is something that is generally pretty difficult. But adding a couple of items and a mob or two is not something that should take very long, even when all versions have to up to speed with each other.
It should also be mentioned the minecraft team is 600 people(including non programmers) working on like 7 different versions with 2 primary code languages. They have tons of checks to prevent one version from massively differentiating and to prevent undue problems like crashes and lag.
"the mob vote is just mojang's modern way of engaging the community"
yeah buddy, and those waffen ss officers were just following orders.
we know what it is. doesn't mean it isn't stupid. a better way to "engage" is to take in suggestions and speak to community figures to find out what the players would like. not give them a choice of 3 things that they didn't even consider, and then only add one of them when the other 2 could be added just fine. and the one that's wanted the least will probably also make it in as well. which makes it worse.

We need a mob vote but its just one mob, but we vote on the ability it has
They could do update votes where you vote for what the next update will be about
That would just he worse
Frrrr why can't they add all mobs, because everyone wants all of them and it would stop the community from fighting when they don't get their favourite mob.

@@nowh_8808Incoherent means it doesn't make sense. I agree, your democracy opinion doesn't make sense for this context.
Fun fact: Shulkers were originally suppose to be ablr to camoflauge into other blocks and ambush players, but it was "too hard to code."
You might think they are lazy but they have to get the feature working on EVERY SINGLE DEVICE. So they have to scrap it if it doesn't work on a Ipad touchscreen.
Yeah, most of the community wants all the mobs....if you check the original mon vote videos, most people are saying the same thing and I agree like theres not any loss of mojang in adding all mobs, infact its beneficial for them.
Adding more workload to an update creates an unpolished mob or an unpolished update. I would rather have a more polished update with a lot of bug fixing then have 3 polished or unpolished extra mobs and a polished or unpolished update with less bug fixing.

@oxyboxy5064 its a squid covered in bioluminescent, hence a GLOW squid, and bioluminescent makes light.
And you realize what glowing means, right? It glows light, not sits there making sparkles. Should've just been called a glitter squid
The name was incredibly misleading and I thought mojang wasn't gonna be lazy and actually work off an idea rather then doing a piss poor job with it. Like come on, voting on a GLOW squid and yall didn't make it glow OR add any new light blocks crafted from items it drops is crazy
@oxyboxy5064 if you've ever played subnautica, you'll know what bioluminescent is, since it's on so many creatures and makes alot of places have light without relying on sun to produce it.
They should do a priority mod vote, they have 3 mobs and depending on the vote amounts for each that is the one they prioritize. That or do what wild card does for there creature votes, take 10 creatures from the community and add the top on to the game

Mojang devs prepping for the last Minecraft update where they add every mob that didn’t make the mob vote:
I feel like the thing people forget is, when they add a feature they have to make it for two different coding engines, and ensure on bedrock that it’s all working correctly across the dozen different platforms it’s on.

The only actual purpose of Mob Votes is to give the community that feeling of importance. Like "omg, devs listen to us! Our voices are heared! We can impact the development of our favorite game"
Guys, if Mojang actually listened, we'd already had new dimensions, new biomes, inventory redesign (or least some features from terraria), larger render distance (combined with better optimisation) AND all 3-4 mobs of each mob vote, and so much more
It's not even some unrealistic fantasy - its all in the mods. Already! For free!
And I'm glad there are modders that expose the absurdity of these mob votes. Why trust mojang, if you can make a new feature all by yourself in under 24 hours!?!

@@vladroll2607small difference betwern modders, they already have alot of things, all of mojang's mistakes and fuck ups. They'd take longer tha mojang tenfold if they tried actual game development, and besides mojang designs these things while the modder just copies it
They should follow Rockstar Games and hire the mod makers.
Not when they don't like it
If you worked for Mojang then you would know the pain
Mojang devs when they actually have to show up to work
grow up
So the reason why it takes longer for a studio to do it then a modder is
A. The studio needs to think how it'll effect the game the modder just gets to add things in
B. Alot of the time there's alot more middle chain things that can cause a game to have some miscommunication put in that a modder doesn't have and those need to be ironed out
C. it can take longer in Mojang for them to make a mob because they have to much on there plate to handle cause half the time the mob isn't ment to be the main focus of the update and alot more coding work goes into the biomes and new mechanics
D. Got to remember the bedrock team also needs to code the mob to fit the game
E. Sometimes big companies get so many employees that it can over complicate things leading to a longer time making the mobs but they can't get rid of the complexity because it could effect the company catastrophically and investors don't want that. If Microsoft things Mojang has lost there touch they will shut down Minecraft so it's better to slowly release mobs instead of completely restructuring there entire company to make them quicker cause no investment means no mobs at all.
Tldr: vivilan doesn't understand how corporations work and why it takes much longer for them to make a mob then a modder
Finally thank you
Makes sense...
This needs attention
Modders CAN do it….?
Those reasons are absolutely horrible.
What would probably be cool for Mojang to do is still do a mob vote, but the most voted mob gets made first, then the second most voted made gets made, well, second, and same with the third most voted mob. That would be pretty cool ngl.
I think they are saving up for a mob vote of the unused mobs
