  • Hello and welcome back! Thank you for tuning in for my end-of-year update. Unfortunately, things aren't going so great... RUclips has pushed my channel into the grave because of false copyright claims, subscriber count went into the negatives for the entire year, and the view count is at an all-time low. I'm fighting the good fight though! And most importantly, I'm not giving up. Stay tuned for more and thank you for watching!

    And the stuff that is going on with your channel don’t let it kill your motivation. I’m here for you. Your videos are really satisfying. They teach me quite a few things. They’re one of the best DIY videos out there. You’ve got this man you can do it you never know your channel might get popular.

    Keep up the good fight! I'm usually a lurker but felt the need to comment to say that I found you last year (2022) and your videos are honestly awesome, I truly don't understand how you don't have more views, I get excited every time you post a video to see the updates on the house, as a new home flipper myself

    Your house is looking really amazing. I love the sea the whole house once it’s 100% done and see how much has changed plus your cats are really cute.

    I tuned in this year! Honestly, I've seen you manage quite a bit in your various videos, with a bit of research I have faith you could figure out any electrical or plumbing yourself. Is it a bit daunting? Yes, of course. But it's far more satisfying to learn the job and do it yourself. Then, it's also likely much easier to call an inspector to look it over and make sure it's safe instead of trying to work with a contractor. For example, I ran a 150 amp subpanel to my garage. Was sketch as all hell at first, but I researched tons and made sure I was safe at all times, and now I'm super glad for it (and the money/time saved).
    All the best and good luck!

    Really sorry to hear that you are going through this. I followed your channel near 6 years ago and enjoyed your videos a lot, the bottle opener maze is my all time favorite. I only realized I haven't watched your video for quite a while after getting a miter saw last week. Turned on the bell now and wish things work out soon. Happy New Year!

    As a fellow content creator I feel like almost every social media platform is skewed toward the spammers because they are paying to have their stuff promoted and the platforms are more apt to let them get priority over authentic content creators that are either not paying for ads (IG) or are generating payouts (YT). Either way, I have been feeling the burnout myself. Not sure what my strategy is going to be for 2023. Either way, stay the course and keep doing your thing.

    So sorry to hear all of this, Brett. Being a homeowner often means dealing with contractors who are flakes. There are so many good ones, but it takes just one who doesn't know their a55 from a hole in the ground that they dug and then failed to refill to frustrate you to no end. I wish you the best of luck in getting your channel back on track. Happy New Year! 🍾

      I always feel better / less alone when I hear others have met terrible flakey contractors! I wish there was a way to fix that social issue - some sort of web3 version of the 20th century BBB solution. So much of my DIY adventure is because I hire contractors who promise the moon, then take a few thousand dollars, and have only half fixed the original problem and created two new problems while they were working. Might as well spend the time doing bad work myself, rather than letting barely trained 20 year olds onto my roof with a circular saw or on my property with a backhoe! At least that way I'm improving my skills. p.s. I agree it's a slog when you have a day job and no experience in the trades!

    For that reason I do most of my stuff myself. I don't trust anyone anymore. No matter how much you pay, there is ALWAYS something going wrong. Fortunately it is easy to learn new skills with youtube and even the result is better than with the "pros" most of the time. Only downside is, that my time is not endless.

    That sucks. The big social companies are awful to deal with. I have family at meta and even their fb profile got banned for trying to gift me a boosted post for my company profile. It was a completely OK transaction, but the post got flagged as trying to violate the terms and agreements. Fb thought it had to do with housing or something insane. They eventually okayed the post, but wouldn’t Unbanned my family member , one of their own employees ha ha. He had a little to no recourse to which is really insane. Sorry you’re going through this, here for you man.

    There are always ups and downs every which way you turn. I just wish that you were able to correct/overcome these issues you have described. You have tried and are still trying so don't ever give up. You will sort them out and move on one way or other. I would love to be able to give you some solutions. Are there no well-recommended tradesmen in your area? It is really hard to dish out $$ and get a shitty job in return!
    Just know your channel is not dead! I wish you the best possible 2023 and look forward to your videos.

    You seem like a nice guy, and from what you describe you are are being taken advantage of for that. Sadly the old adage nice guys finish last has become the rule in these times. Lawyer up, they pay your fees when they lose. Once they see you aren't a push over they can take advantage of they deliver or pay the consequences. Sad that it's come to that but that's the times we're living in.

    • @Bretts_Builds
      @Bretts_Builds  Год назад +1

      Yeah it's sad, I gave these guys the benefit of the doubt. It's rough out there in the trades, I can't imagine what's going on in their lives but it's past the point of being patient.

    RUclips is essentially a digital shopping mall, they provide a space for businesses to set up a shop and they get their rent from a cut of ad revenue. However the past few years the management of this digital shopping mall has been terrible. There's no logic to how they enforce their policies (which change wildly and constantly), and there's no way to reach humans for a reasonable appeal process. Sorry to hear you're one more small creator being crushed by the current mismanagement!
