For leveling mosaic or smaller tiles.... use grout trowel to tump over gradually, when setting. Wont have u even tiles
Thanks for the tips!
You don’t have to go through all that headache. Just pull out the bad tiles with razor and screw driver. The thin set and grout can be adjusted for tile imperfections
When you cut gray pan liner, did liner go inside drain pipe, then you placed square drain over it ?
Yes, cut an “X” in it and then install the drain.
How did the floor come out after grinding down? Just had a similar shower floor installed and there was uneven tiles that I am not happy with. Debating on breaking some out and replacing to even then out, but grinding some down sounds like a good option.
They came out nice, if I was to do it again I would definitely get a 6” or 8” polisher in there to put a better shine back on the marble after I used the smaller wheels to get all the rough edges
you didnt seam the 45's together? did you just silicone after? does it leak?
Used color matched caulking for the corners and 45’s. A few hundred showers taken by teenagers in this shower so far and zero issues to date .
Did you do 3 coats of redgard over 3 days?
Just waiting for each coat to dry. Takes about an hour, once it’s all completely red you can start the next coat.
Do you not need to back butter the tiles?
I back buttered all of them.
Hi I wanted to know how did you paint over the dry pack with red guard? I’m having trouble because it’s so sandy and my roller is picking up sand from the base. Thank you
On my setup the dry pack was my bottom layer then I did my moisture barrier, then a layer of mortar/cement. My redgard went onto the cement which I was able to roll on.
Only advise I can offer would be to use your shop vac and try to clean up your surface more or a layer of cement over your dry pack to make a better surface.??
Thank you for your reply.
This is exactly what redguard was made for. If you’re a lowes guy go for mapei auquadefense
Can't beat natural marble for a timeless look! One very minor issue.......6 sided objects are hexagons, not octogons.
Haha.. thanks, I totally blew it on that one!
Since red guard is a rubber membrane, how well does the tile thin set bind to it?
Bonds fine, it’s designed to have thin set used on it once it’s fully cured.
Sweet! Thanks
If thats white marble. That gray mortar will shine thru the material. Not a good idea. Use white mortar.
Thanks for the tip.
Grey thinset make marble darker very amature to use it create double time to clean joint
Redgard on the floor no good you will regret it the walls is ok but not for the floor
Good job... however.... use smaller trowel than quarter of inch (1/8 of an inch). And always, white mortar on light tiles.... clean same time u lay tile, dont leave for after. Cleaning is worst part of tile setting. Work cleaner even if slower
How do you maintain a sufficient grout joint when using tiles attached to a backing, when the slope tightens up the grout joints?
I cant belive how amature this guy is still roockie curb last thingh to do then you polish before instale the pieces all wrong
Thanks for watching. Let me know when you post a video on how to do it better. 😂
