A few minutes later, that same fellow was performing on stage. I didn’t know at the time, but I had met Sheldon J. Plankton. I’ll never forget that afternoon.
Sheldon's fucking scream is just so gnarly and Krabs doing Jerry's parts is weirdly dissonant, but beautiful. Since both voices are really gritty it just contrast the smoothness of the original harmonies.
Normally I'd agree on that notion, but tbh, I think the censored version kinda fits a bit better. I can see and hear this in a scene if this was done in a SpongeBob movie (like that Twisted Sister parody from the first one).
How it starts: Drunk dude starts doing karaoke. The verse: Okay cover Chorus: HITS IT WITH THE INTENSITY OF A MAN GIVING INTO SOUL RENDING EXISTENTIAL DESPAIR AFTER WATCHING HIS WHOLE FAMILY BEING SAVAGELY TORTURED AND BUTCHERED BEFORE HIS VERY EYES!

Please for the love of god, someone make Doug Lawrence aware of this, he'd get the biggest kick out of it 😂 Krabs doing Jerry's parts is so very fitting
It is UNREAL how amazing Planktons overlaid voice sounds here, and it’s honestly kind of a testament to how unreal Laynes original performance was on this track for another voice to be literally manipulated to hit every high note, the tone and pitch, perfectly.
Hearing Plankton's AI scream his little head off is so good. It sounds as if Krabs is squeezing the life out of Plankton whenever he hits the chorus. Very fitting for Plankton to duet with Mr.Krabs.
Douglas Lawrence NEEDS to try doing music like holy shit. i know its just basically a voice changer for the original vocals basically but his voice is just PERFECT for alt metal
This is almost EXACTLY how I imagined Plankton singing my favorite AIC song. Every time in the chorus with Layne's screaming parts are godly along with Mr. Krabs with Jerry's backup vocals. AI can do good, AI can do bad, but AI is good at making our favorite characters sing our favorite songs that we would imagine.
Now that I've fallen down this rabbithole, I think I can safely say that Plankton's godly vocals make him the best person in the SpongeBob cast to sing Rock and Metal songs. He can sing Tool, Disturbed, Linkin Park, Dragonforce, and so many others.
Say what you will about AI. Say that it is the soulless mimicking of human creations. This is the best cover of “Man in the Box” that I’ve ever heard. I think it’s the combination of the original audio and the raspiness of Plankton’s AI generated voice during the chorus that makes this ungodly powerful. I have been listening to this on repeat during my drive into work. During the second chorus, I actually started laughing out loud to myself, because of how good it was. If for something to be considered art, it has to move you in some way, this has succeeded.
Everyone here is so surprised that this is fire, and the tech is super impressive, but I always knew that Plankton would make a great metal voice. I knew ever since I heard him scream in the sponge movie when he was being scraped off of a shoe.
