Good job spotting the razorback P-51s. I missed that completely, but after going back to look I was very pleased to notice that detail. The one shot that really doesn't feel right to me in that Berlin raid sequence is the big wide shot with all the fighter criss-crossing the screen at what looks like 700 miles per hour to my eye.
That was definitely one of the questionable pieces of CGI that stood out. Again, you can tell they were trying to go for scale. If the planes were slowed down a bit then we'd probably all agree it looked amazing.
@@WW2AboveandBelowI also wouldn’t be surprised if some of those questionable cgi parts had something to do with production being all screwed up from covid
First, I am grateful the series was made. But second, I wish that the production team looked closely at some glaring errors. One I noticed in part 7 is the B17 that transports Sgt. Quinn and Bailey off the base, after their escape and return through Spain. The CGI image or shot of the replica taxiing out, you will notice the square D group code is on the top left of the wing and the star and bar is on the right, when these should be reversed. Also, my worries from the opening credits, is that the shot of the bare metal B17 “Mike” is one of the replica aircraft modified but still remaining an F model and not the correct G variant with a chin turret and updated Sperry top turret!
I can answer part of this in respect to the chin turret. According to production members on the MoTA Facebook group, there were chin turrets made, but they were not installed. I have read it was because of time and/or budget constraints.
@@WW2AboveandBelowThat was my first thought, budget restraints. Well, in my opinion, this aircraft modification could have been done if they scaled back the whole Crosby and Sandra story line!
i felt this episode was a bit weak and certain things very rushed. I'm also worried they're going to be wasting time on the Sandra story arc (because WOMAN) next episode when really, this show should be about the 100th. The episodes are way too short as well...why can't they be as long as BoB / Pacific episodes? I just feel generally movies / tv shows are massively going down hill these days and it's often because of woke writers or execs shoe-horning DEI in. There's been some great scenes and and eps with this but overall it feels rushed, story arc wise and IMHO doesn't hold a candle to either BoB or The Pacific.
Also, what's with the wrinkled bodywork under the nose of Rosie's Riveters? The replica looking like it has seen better days in that scene. That's not meant to be representing battle damage is it?
I’m an aircraft mechanic and while I can’t speak specifically to the B-17. I can tell you that certain alloys on aircraft are specifically meant to do that. You can see it for instance on the nose of the B-52. It’s designed to wrinkle and not break and keep its rigidity.

@@fitycalibre7555Could very well be! Might be for budget stretching since next two episodes are supposedly action heavy.
We Stand Alone Together is brilliant! Emmy award winning. Definitely check it out!

I noticed that too! I feel like it's a mistake, because it looks like a belly landing damage, but then new nose plexiglass fitted :P
