There is some tarnishing with them but they still look really nice. The tarnishing does add some interesting looks to the piece. I kind of like the small amount of tarnish they do have. Argentium is tricky in a few ways when it comes to soldering, annealing and polishing. This is from someone that works handmade jewelry. Wonderful silver alloy when worked properly. The price hovers neck and neck with sterling and fine silver bullion. I'll be working with it soon. I cant wait. Its supposed to be brighter than platinum when polished correctly. Figaro chains is what I'll dabble in when I do Argentium.
I just had an old piece that hasn’t been worn in 13 years it sat in a drawer when I took it out it was black I dropped it in some silver cleaner then gave it a quick polish it looks brand new again!

The tarnish is no problem if you got a polishing cloth made for silver and I actually enjoy polishing my piece and seeing how much more shiny it is after wards.
Yes sir there is a liquid cleaner for silver also that works good I use liquid and rinse then the cloth for a finishing touch on all my italian silver chain, bracelets and pendants and they shine harder than any of my italian gold chains by a long shot.
Just use pure .999+ silver, it will not tarnish under regular use. Use arc weld to keep the rolled or hammered pieces strong and forget about dealing with solder tarnishing and torch softness anymore.
The silver u talk about tarnishing is the same silver they put into ur gold piece dont ack like gold ain't got things mixed into it if u ask me gold is mix with more metals than silver
I just watched this video trying to find out about the silver Figaro I have on. I have never polished it, so why has my chain never tarnished?

silver is a great metal I believe it's the most reflective precious metal. the elephant in the room is really the tarnish. the tarnish seems to compound so better if the piece is cleaned regularly. for a white metal I would go silver or platinum over white gold as you would have to get it replaced over time. yellowed-white gold is not a good look. It all comes down to taking care of your jewelry. keep up the good work!
So true I have pieces of slivers I haven't worn it in awhile just Sitting there I pulled out last week to clean all my jewelries. A couple of my piece was black like deep black. Then I didn't know why it does that since i haven't worn it awhaile(2 years) now I know. I don't want ot invest in slivers anymore rather White gold and solid 18k or 24k only. All that money I spent on Slivers I could've bought valuable jewelries. Just waste money. I might just take the stone out from my sliver bangle and throw the bangle away.
Silver is literally so easy to clean every once in a while I’ll throw my necklace and bracelet into a bowl of boiling water and baking soda and it turns it bright white again almost instantly but it typically takes months and months or something like baiting in sulfur rich water (when the water filter is over due lol) for them to tarnish anyways. One of my favorite metals.
To be honest man I just bought 3 mm 22 inches silver chain and it is Looking even better than white gold and it’s very extremely simple to clean with baking soda
Do sterling silver brother water and baking soda paste routine clean you will make a lot more money and you can use this paste on your gold and diamonds to and stainless steel just don't use on a herringbone piece of jewelry because the paste will harden up I have found the cheap way might be a little effort but it's cheap 4 sterling silver to never tarnish when bought new or if not severely tarnished to Grey used and a little aged baking soda and water made into a paste just don't put on herringbone jewelry because of the herringbones likeliness to kink up because the paste will harden up
I think silver and gold are such different colors it's hard to compare. Like which do you like, blue or red? I like silver because it looks good on me. So, it's an easy choice.
I love both - gold and silver.. I keep my silver in a special silver keeper boxes and they don't tarnish at all or very very little. I prefer designer's sterling . My favorite designers are Scott Kay and Michael Dawkins.
After watching this video, I went on google & found out that some people tell their jeweler to make sterling silver jewelry, but instead of mixing copper as an alloy, they mix in platinum. Anyways, what do u think Jacoje?
+k Leon ya that's why I said other alloys/metals. It's more expensive to do so. I think people just want to buy silver cheaper knowing the fact it will tarnish

Yes. There is an alloy called Argentium. It has 1 percent Germanium added to the Copper. And of course it still has a high silver content. Even more than Sterling. Sometimes as high at 96 percent Silver. It also doesn't fire scale so much when welding. So it's easier to work with.

Silver jewelry, fine jewelry is expensive. But cheaper compared to gold, and if we base everything on scrap value. We all are being ripped off. I bought a tennis bracelet 7.5" in length by 5mm set with white sapphires for $70; the scrap value is guarantee less than $20 dollars, and a Cuban link bracelet in 7.5" by 8mm with pavé set white sapphires for $160 dollars with an estimate scrap value of less than $20. Do I feel ripped off for paying $230 dollars for less than $40 dollars worth of silver, yes I do. Do I regret buying them, yes I do. Do I know that $230 dollars could have gotten me 11.5 ounces of pure silver bullion at let's say $20 per troy ounce, yes I do. However, the caveat being that Swarovski sells a tennis bracelet in steel with glass stones for $160 dollars, and other sellers sell BRASS tennis bracelets with gold plate and CZs for $70-100 USD, and similar Cuban link bracelets again in BRASS, gold plated pavéd with CZs selling for $100-200 dollars. For something that is literally disposable, or putting your health at risk by buying Mystery Metal (cadmium) bracelets from Wish it is not only stupid, but real-real rip off. Do I love white gold and diamonds, I do. Was I looking to pay $3-5k for a tennis bracelet in 14k white gold and 2mm diamonds, and a Cuban link bracelet in 14k white gold with pavé set diamonds at $20-30k. Hell no, their scrap value is worthless, and it is a complete rip off. Am I ever buying, silver jewelry again? No, I got the the look it was a 1 time purchase, and never again. Do I know that it will tarnish. Yes I do, did that dampen my mood. Yes, it did. Did I see a ton of Haute Joallerie with diamonds set on oxidized silver, or oxidized white metals, or rhodium plated black. Yes, I did, and it looked lovely, so I accepted the fact that they will eventually oxidize to a beautiful shade of dark.
the thing about sterling silver also is it costs too much per gram and you won't ever get that money back. invest in gold and you will get that money somehow. also, sterling silver wears away much much faster. gets scratches and loses its brilliance.
Anon Anon that depends, ask an actual economist, who knows stuff like this. instead of a jeweller, who wants to sell. economists will tell you that no jewelry is a good investment period. yes gold is worth a lot, but how do you think they make money on it? jewellers like to say they only mark up 25% and that when you need money you can get up to 75% of what you spent back. anyone who has been in that position will tell you that's simply not true at all
Anon Anon It's actually less than gold. Gold is more precious so it costs more. However I'd rather have gold cause of the tarnish factor on sterling silver
I've had all of my silver chains for more than 5 years and none of them have tarnished obviously. I have taken care of them throw them in some solution 30 seconds clean them with a rag like new every time
I have a ton of silver rings, chains, pendants, earrings, etc. saved so much money. And shining like the sun. With the left over money I can buy more silver pieces with moissanite pave or baggutes stones and get on with my life. No need to upgrade to gold. Just stop being Lazy and clean your pieces!!!
I wear gold/silver. I have a silver chain that I wear yellow/white gold pendants. And after finding out gold/silver can be an alloy. It's basically all the same.
To help get rid of tarnish just do 1 cup boiling water to 1/3 cup of baking soda. In a bowl covered with aluminum. Leave the silver in the bowl of boiling mixture for about ten minutes. Basically reverses the chemical reaction of tarnishing, making your silver super shiny.
Does rhodium plating on silver, change the color if it. Ive searched for silver franco chains and mostly are Rd plated, they look kind of opaque rather than regular sterling which is very white .
what is your opinion on all the very cool stainless steel jewelry out these days. I've noticed the quality is exceptional on many pieces, and considering a fraction of the price, no maintenance required and last a lifetime.
+Calogero I have a few stainless steel pieces. They definitely do their job. I don't wear them anymore but did a whole back. Don't really have any complaints on them.
whats better 10k gold or silver 10k is worth more but isn't much gold with it having less than 41 percent and silver being almost 999.percent. what would you rather wear
10k gold. Even though 10k gold has less than 50% gold it still has more value than silver. Like if you wanted to pawn the 10k gold you would be able to get some money back on it but most likely not with silver. Some pawn shops do take silver but it's very, very, very rare.

Most of my pieces are sterling silver. I do like the looks of it. I wipe it with a white cloth when I take it off and I have some pieces that are 20 years old and they still look nice. There is some tarnishing with them but they still look really nice. The tarnishing does add some interesting looks to the piece. I kind of like the small amount of tarnish they do have. It is something you have to take care of over time. It requires more maintenance than gold but it isn't bronze which is a total pain in the back side to keep looking nice. I have a few pieces of hand crafted bronze jewelry, bracelets, and I have to clean them every week to keep them nice looking. Silver I might have to do something to it once a year, if I wipe it down after use.
@Zombie Eric Harris @JACOJE LYNX Apparently I had my comment removed. If the moderator needs to change it, take the link I posted in there out that links to what I had purchased. I was only giving it as an example, not as a product endorsement!
Ive had my silver chain for quite some time and it rarely tarnishes. I work construction so its always exposed to the elemants and sweat and i never take it off. The only real cleaning i give it is in the shower with a small rag and some shampoo. It works really well
what kinda chain do you have , i also work in the construction field and was looking to get a chain to wear regularly
thanks
@@jeffryt1434 i have a 6mm solid .925 silver curb chain. Honestly best chain ive ever owned very strong and sturdy and it rarely tarnishes. I rarely ever take it off. If you get one make sure its a solid and not a hollow. A solid curb chain is one of the strongest you can own
Where did you get the chain from??
@@camachoxvi8356 he probably got it locally, you can easily get a concave curb or flat curb in any jewelry shop that’s sterling silver
silver doesn't really tarnish if you're wearing it all the time, I have a chain I've worn for 7 years and it hasn't worn down or tarnished at all.
Bet if you take it to a jeweler to get it cleaned for 10 bucks you'll see the difference, I have a silver cuban link and rings and I took them to get polished and I couldnt even recognize them
Bashing silver but not stainless?
stainless is put of the question only thing that should be used for is your knife and fork
Stainless steel is not a precious metal
Stainless steel is not a precious metal. As affordable as silver is, I really cant see any reason why someone would want a piece made of stainless steel. Makes no sense
I have a 26 inch diamond cut sterling silver Figaro & it shines almost as bright as my 14k 5mm gold rope but I get a ton of compliments on both pieces you can’t go wrong with either
I'm poor the only jewelry I ever had was silver or gold plated
Love gold but I we gotta start appreciating the silver metal. I’m buying more soon.
what about argentium silver? it's more pure at 96 percent and resists tarnishing...why isn't it way more widely used?
I love sterling silver it’s more affordable than gold and honesty I think if you can spent $100 and over on a piece but can’t afford solid gold you should just get sterling silver.
True
Just use pure .999+ silver, it will not tarnish under regular use. Use arc weld to keep the rolled or hammered pieces strong and forget about dealing with solder tarnishing and torch softness anymore.
The silver u talk about tarnishing is the same silver they put into ur gold piece dont ack like gold ain't got things mixed into it if u ask me gold is mix with more metals than silver
I just watched this video trying to find out about the silver Figaro I have on. I found it about 15 years ago in the dirt I went ahead and washed it with warm water and it looked like a mirror just beautiful. I have never taken it off ever (even during showers, exercise and sleep),and it still looks like a mirror. It has the mark and says 925 Italy on all the clasps. I have never polished it, so why has my chain never tarnished?
I shower with my chains on as well. The daily cleaning with soap and water prevents the silver from tarnishing. If I remove my silver before I shower, then it blackens in three weeks. As soon as I start showering with it, it cleans up nicely again.
@@robertlakay88 really? Hmmm didn’t know that…when I shower is the only time my chain comes off but I wipe it with a silver polishing cloth prolly every other week
Joyas Alexander USA sells sterling silver jewelry from Mexico and offers free cleaning if you purchase locally in the Chicagoland area. Have Several pieces from him and they still look like new. BTW I respect your hustle bro. Glad your still in business.
I love both silver and gold.
silver is a great metal I believe it's the most reflective precious metal. the elephant in the room is really the tarnish. the tarnish seems to compound so better if the piece is cleaned regularly. for a white metal I would go silver or platinum over white gold as you would have to get it replaced over time. yellowed-white gold is not a good look. It all comes down to taking care of your jewelry. keep up the good work!
+hiphopmuzik truth!!!!
Love 925 silver rings or chain and gold... Better then plated
Does 925 silver chains last ?
DFlowetry yes
I always just felt like silver fits my self better. I can’t really pull off the gold, im happy with my sterling silver figaro
sterling silver turning you can't clean it back to New
I rock a silver curb link bracelet. It contrast nicely with my darker tattoos. I have a thin sterling curb link chain on the way to.
Where do you purchase from?
So true I have pieces of slivers I haven't worn it in awhile just
Sitting there I pulled out last week to clean all my jewelries.
Just clean mine. Not a issue
Argentium sterling should work if you're worried about tarnishing.
I love silver I clean all mine with toothpaste and it shines beautifully every time great video by the way
Toothpaste can't beat baking soda + foil + hot water. Works like magic. Toothpaste? Tried it and it's not much helpful.
@@cathaaaa7236 i don’t like toothpaste as it tends to scratch
i have a question . why is it so expensive , on eBay silver rope chain are less than ten dollars ?
E. VNDLL no don't buy mine was 60 from pagoda
Hey so I’m looking for a silver Cuban link for a everyday wear and I can’t decide who/where to buy from so you have any recommendations?
Local jeweler that’s where I got my silver Cuban
Quality Silver is very beautiful and can be kept that way with polishing :) It is definitely worth buying!!
Yeap, Tiffany and Co.
I love both - gold and silver.. I keep my silver in a special silver keeper boxes and they don't tarnish at all or very very little. I prefer designer's sterling . My favorite designers are Scott Kay and Michael Dawkins.
+oldpalmcity definitely some good silver pieces out there and they do hold up well if you take care of them.
Good jewelry metals = platinum, gold, silver, and stainless steel.
Can you do a platinum vid?
Mole ? Workin’ on getting that checked out ?
If u only think silver tarnish u haven't been in the jewelry game long enough cause gold also can tarnish
After watching this video, I went on google & found out that some people tell their jeweler to make sterling silver jewelry, but instead of mixing copper as an alloy, they mix in platinum. It is more expensive then regular sterling silver (still cheaper than white gold tho) , but I heard that it tarnishes wayy less. I wish more people would start making this type of jewelry. Anyways, what do u think Jacoje?
+k Leon ya that's why I said other alloys/metals. It's more expensive to do so. I think people just want to buy silver cheaper knowing the fact it will tarnish
I have a lot of silver I personally like silver, but the resale value is like horrible but I still wear it when it tarnishes I just take it back to the jewelry store I bought from and they clean it. I had some questions if u ever read this and have time to answer that me cool, thanks!
Im trying to figure out if theres a quality difference between the silver flat curb chains on etsy and the ones at mall jewellery stores. The ones at the mall are like 2-3x the price.
Check out Luke Zion jewelry. He’s got real nice silver
Never buy mall jewelry it's always over priced.
I bought a silver chain for $115you could typically get for 30-40 bucks anywhere else.
Literally polish my silver once a month takes 5 minutes and it looks brand new 😂😂😂 you literally that lazy 😂😂😂
No I just like more valuable things ;)
JACOJE LYNX fair play if you can afford it. I was gonna buy me a gold plated chain but watched your videos on it and decided its better to wait until I can afford the proper ting
JACOJE LYNX do you nort sell silver? commenting like this is saying dont buy silver
I swear
@@jacoje It's because Jacoje likes to buy and sell quality. With over the top quality you worry less. Silver is nice but if your a busy person 24/7 with a busy life, noone has time to clean silver and worry about tarnishing. Jacoje owns and runs a company, hes too busy to have to worry about cleaning his jewelry too often. ;)
I got a supposed sterling silver chain off Etsy, supposedly made in Italy. I use the word "supposed" because I'm not sure if it's true sterling. I have the inscriptions "925 Italy" and "F.N.A." It passed the magnet test, but when I rub it on a scot towell, it doesn't leave a mark at all like sterling is supposed to. I was wondering if you know what the F.N.A. means.
Hi I just buy a Cuban braslet of silver but wen I went to another pawn shop the guy toll me that it was not real silver coz it sticks to the magnet and I retornen back to the pawn . And I have anothe one and it’s truth I put the magnet on and it don’t stick so what can you tell me about that ? Please I want to know if is good to silver stick to magnet ore not?
I have my Sterling silver Chan since i was 15 I'm 35 now still a good chain love it i am looking in to gold one soon looking to buy it from u soon just dont know what i want yet
I had mines 20 years too its tarnishing now though especially the cross I only paid $250 so I feel I got my money's worth
If you wear daily francos are it
thanks, have there been any developments by manufacturers to delay the effects of tarnishing since this video?
Yes. There is an alloy called Argentium. It has 1 percent Germanium added to the Copper. And of course it still has a high silver content. Even more than Sterling. Sometimes as high at 96 percent Silver. It also doesn't fire scale so much when welding. So it's easier to work with.
What about pure silver? Will it tarnish over time as well?
Yes, I have some silver bullion and it does tarnish. You can buy, Argentium silver which is an alloy of silver and germanium that doesn't tarnish.
@@curlyhairdudeify Where can I purchase?
@@luisfernandez9624 It depends on what you want? Do you want chains, bracelets, or a custom made piece. If you want pieces that are already made you can try Ebay, Etsy, or the internet. However, if you want a custom piece. You can go to RioGrande(.)com and get the wire, sheet metal, or casting grain from them.

Silver looks good on everyone. gold isn't for everyone, most end up looking like decadent hip hop singers.
The only thing with gold is that if you keep it for 2 to 3 yrs it would double its price or even triple and thats what i like about Aurum.
the thing about sterling silver also is it costs too much per gram and you won't ever get that money back. invest in gold and you will get that money somehow.
also, sterling silver wears away much much faster. gets scratches and loses its brilliance.
Agreed!
Called cleaning yo silver... I get asked of my shit white gold.. And i say nope haha

I've had all of my silver chains for more than 5 years and none of them have tarnished obviously. I have taken care of them throw them in some solution 30 seconds clean them with a rag like new every time
Just bought a chain and it was advertised as sterling silver... BUT, the chain has .925 SP on it. Should I return it?
the SP means silver plated, so it means its not solid

Silver can be refurbished with boiling water, baking soda, & foil anyone who owns silver knows it will tarnish but you can easily refurbish it at home

Pandora's charms are 925. What do you think about the charms?
Im trying to get rid of old silver jewelry. I spent alot of money on. Am i wasting time selling it to a jewelry store?
I wear gold/silver. I have a silver chain that I wear yellow/white gold pendants. And after finding out gold/silver can be an alloy. It's basically all the same.
Huh??
I wear my 4 mm 20 inch silver chain every day all day for over a year and my chain still whiter than ever didn’t tarnish at all
Bro silver looks sexy af. It’s more flashy and the weight feels good on the neck.
Yea looks flashy but the real white gold be glistening on your neck and not just bright af in person difference is crazy in person
I wear my silver and gold chains together.. I love silver
Really? I have deep tarnished ones I was planning to throw it a way( they were expensive)
Where do you recommend buying silver jewelry online ( chains ) ?
Look for gem faires in your area they sell silver at those
I love silver. You just need to commit to clean your jewelry regularly I mean even gold
Look at the price per gram mark up on silver chains .
Does rhodium plating on silver, change the color if it. Ive searched for silver franco chains and mostly are Rd plated, they look kind of opaque rather than regular sterling which is very white .
kelem Dz it does silver is alot brighter and more reflective i love the look rhodium still looks great but doesn’t shine like silver
In my experience silver tarnishing is mitigated by wearing the piece alot. Your body oils/clothes do the polishing.
What do you think about mixing different color pendents and chains together. Like a silver or gold chain with a gold or silver pendant?
+Hakeem Overstreet I don't like it. Gold and silver have a different look. White gold/yellow gold is ok
JACOJE LYNX Thanks I wanted to get your opinion
what is your opinion on all the very cool stainless steel jewelry out these days.
A jeweler sold me a necklace that has 925 silver on it but it's yellow...what's that ????
