While these conflicts are all tragic and it does feel sometimes like the world is actively burning, I believe it's our civic duty to at least have a basic knowledge of current events so that our voice -- and our vote -- carries better weight.

Because the outcome has no effect or relevance outside of the region it’s taking place. Sudan and Myanmar could literally disappear tomorrow and just be a completely flat surface with no people like out of a movie and nothing would really change for anyone else anywhere in the world. Sudan doesn’t really have an economy, pretty much nothing happens there, and Myanmar’s economy revolves almost entirely around the drug trade.

There are so many active conflicts and flashpoints around the world right now that its very difficult to keep track of them all, so a periodic round-up of how things are progressing with many of the more major (and the less known) situations is incredibly helpful and is a good jumping off point for further reading on each topic. A+ idea, guys! I hope you do more like this.
@@NapoleonicWargaming They do tend to do their best to be unbiased in most conflicts, but definitely show their bias insofar as Ukraine is concerned, along with the different jihadist related conflicts. When they do have a bias on their topic, they're generally pretty good at admitting it outright, while still trying to be fair in their presentation of the facts on the ground. I can respect that.
this is a great format! you could call it “the chessboard”! a biweekly video reviewing the heavy hitting global conflicts in 10-15 minute segments. a deep dive discussion of strategical movements and how they’re connected. we all get the headlines, but to actually understand how individual events impact the global picture is beneficial. i’m already subbed, but i would sub again for this format.
In 60 years, our grandchildren will reference this video in their "WW3 Prologue" school works. Great job Simon & Co. it is amazing to see history unfold.

I know you guys hear this often at this point, but I really appreciate this show. I like to stay informed, but I don't want to hear about why a peoples are evil in the process. So I typically avoid the mainstream media.
I love the situation rooms overview. But I also love the in depth analysis play by play of specific regions and conflicts having a video dedicated solely to the topic it pertains.
I am the international affairs reporter for my school. I am amazed by the reaction whenever I report on any of these conflicts. They're too complicated for a YT comment but I can sum it up by : People are very complex and predictable opinions are not at all accurate. My classmates don't seem to grasp the dangers of these conflicts.

Well to be fair, the Houthi's are explicitly antisemitic; their group motto literally has "death to Israel" and "a curse upon the jews" in it. So, yeah, there's definitely a clear cut connection.

Only unfortunate thing about the timing of this specific one is that the big developments of Israel turning its efforts toward Hezzbollah in earnest, and Ukraine destroying major Russian stockpiles, didn't make it in by the recording date. Which as a one-off is unfortunate, but if it becomes a series then it's no big deal and can make it in the next one.

This wasn't a comprehensive coverage of all the little wars around the world, which is what I wanted. If you're subscribed to this channel you should be up to date on Ukraine, Gaza, and Sudan. A slew of small african conflicts, burma, and I'm sure something else are easier to miss. Which is why I want to video.
I think this would make a great quarterly review for summing up everything that is or has been going on, for those that might have missed a situation room.
This should be an episode that gets released once a year! Released on the same day every year. We can see how the world has changed, if it's more peaceful, more violent, etc.

It's possible, _possible_ mind, that the real purpose of the Kursk offensive was getting access to the Russian railway network control system. The one really big Ukranian strike on a Russian ammo depo last week was so large because they caught a train in the middle of unloading. If Ukraine got access to Russian rail scheduling in Kursk, the timing of that strike might have been deliberate. We won't know for sure unless it happens a couple more times.
I think one of those rail schedule nodes was in Sudzha unless I am mistaken because of one of the control nodes for natural gas to Southern Europe being co located with it.
I have it on good authority (have to protect my sources) that Simon not only masterminded every one of these conflicts but continues to fan the flames to ensure the success of this channel 😊. Great episode.
