- We were fortunate enough to be out for the first day of a very good stretch of dolphin fishing at Oregon Inlet. Southwest winds had formed a decent grass line south of "the point" and most of the fleet had a great day of fishing. My favorite part of dolphin fishing is getting to mix in lighter tackle with the trolling spread using cut bait or artificials, and we got to do that on a really nice class of fish this day!
My spinning setup:
Reel: amzn.to/3E8B6YG
Rod: amzn.to/3KS4OF3
Love the frantic urge to get baits back in the water instead of the high fives. Thats what fills boxes!
Awesome stuff! Love watching those big mahi change colors in the water
It is wild how quickly they change
Love the Contin brother I just found your channel. You’re very lucky to have these friends to go out this awesome boat lol
Agreed!
I used to fish out of Winyah Bay in Georgetown, SC which can be very treacherous but is very fishy for the same reasons Oregon inlet is. Had quite a few times that I’d plan on fishing outside of the inlet only to be turned back by ridiculous swell and current at the jetties. Really enjoy your content; no dub step music and guys yelling at the camera.
I really appreciate that. Trying to create content that is good because the fishing is good, nothing beyond that.
HIGH ENERGY VIDEO, NOLAN.
North Carolina and florida is unmatched when it comes to fishing I’m proud to be from North Carolina 💪🏾💯
Overlooked fishery! I would say NC is top three saltwater fishing states for Atlantic/Gulf coasts
Exciting video! Could you please give details on the spinning setup you were using?
My spinning rod is a Penn 7' Battalion II (2-5oz) with a Slammer IV DX 5500. Fishing 50lb braid to 50lb fluoro leader. Primarily my cobia bucktail rod but I have done all sorts of stuff with it!
How long will the dolphin be in the area? I will be in obx in a couple weeks and hoping they are still in the area. Doing a charter.
Big Dolphin on spinning rods is as good as it gets!!
Yellowfins on a popper would be as good as it gets but I'll give the Dolphins a close second!
@@nolanminor6761 maybe if they jumped lol
Superb
Slayin’
How far out did you go?
Monster. Bet thatd be nice to weighin with.
How long fluoro leader and weight did you have on that setup?
Was fishing 50lb fluoro leader on the spinning rod, no weight. Leader starts around 3' long and will end up as short as 1' if the fish are aggressive
What time of year did you catch the Mahi?
30s are perfect for gaffes
I fish off of Oregon inlet all the time! What the name of the boat??
