Owned 3 GT550's, Couriered on 2 it was SUPERB coming off a Restricted Kawa AR125cc, better than 50 cc but not much better. Electric start, Lovely, almost immediate throttle response was Nice, turned out, would always get 115mph but not over 120, which is OK, Because it had Nice Acceleration, not the mini woosh, from an ex demonstrater '85:GPZ550 uni track, d.f.i. fuel inj. 750 turbo could be if asked a unarmed Intercontinental Ballistic Cruise Missile. It was Special, my favourite Kawa. '85 84 GT750 over which would be a coin toss, Healthy GT750, or a very very healthy fuel inj. Bandit? Would Hope Bandit side up. March '19, no bike Kawasaki for 27 years, got 20, 21 months of Blessed Bandit Time Times, very very Quickly got my PhD Masters Degree in Bandit Torque Enjoyment only, nothing technical. Sadly now a HOPEFULLY only semi retired, Crazy Mad Banditateer, FEKKIN Banditaholic ruined for any other bike, and I'm not even lying. Yours truly Scott Loch. Na, Professor BanditbB.T.E. Bandit Torque Enjoyment only out.

I had one of these back in the day - 1987 model. Toured Europe on her (two up) in 1990. Did 33,000km and 15 countries over 3 months. She never missed a beat. Superb motorcycle. I'd love to have another GT one day... I'd have offered to buy that one if I lived there. Alas, I'm in Asia these days. I hope she went to a good home. These bikes are keepers.

Just came across this lovely old thing, 3 years too late to be tempted. A blue one was my first bike but it wasn’t as smooth as this one. Truly great all-rounder with good handling, bulletproof(ish) engine and a comfy seat for two. I toured the West Country with an elfin pillion to keep me warm in the days before intercom took over from hand-signs and subtle squeezes.

I own a GT 550. I bought it from a wonderful lady who is sadly no longer with us. R.I.P. Liz ❤️
Unfortunately my bike is not such great condition as the one in the video. It's been off the road for over 4 years (me living abroad). I would dearly love to restore the bike.

'83 on, Owned 3 GT550's, Superb little Workhorse of a bike, always, always get 115 Planted mph., wouldn't do over 120mph. Early '85 traded in my nearly new Kawa.750 turbo, for an nearly new Kawa.GT750 Couriered on all. Making the 550 faster?, I get that !!, Enjoyed the 750 shaft drive more all round than the 750 turbo, that was Tremendous Biking JOY, Fun, the GT750 was always quick enough Acceleration wise, and did sit at a Planted 140mph. All day long. But Google says 115-120 for the gt750 ?, That's the 550's figures. Yours truly Scott Loch. Na Professor Bandit B.T.E. I've owned one (G4) since 1989. Yours looks lovely, but your fast running and tick over is way, way, fucking way too high mate. Trouble with these bikes is the adjuster screw, which is made of alloy and if not used tends to seize then get broken, when turned without lubrication and a gentle hand and you end up with what you've got here. It's a bummer. They're such reliable bikes that the only time they ever need adjusting is when typically a four in to one exhaust is fitted and they won't run smoothly, so somebody turns, forces and breaks the adjuster, tries to hide it and you're fucked...... always do your own bike mechanics !
