Could you imagine if there was a giant crossover movie full of car based horror characters. Rusty Nail driving the creepmobile from Jeepers Creepers, truck from Maximum Overdrive, Christine, Sweet Tooth from Twisted Metal, etc. I can’t think of any others but I’m sure there’s more out there. It’d be a campy and ridiculous mess and I’d love it to pieces
I really liked the first one, it was released here in the UK as Roadkill and then renamed after the 2nd one came out, it just straight out got released as Joyride 2 and then all new copies of Roadkill were renamed Joyride (really confused me at the time lol) I wasn't really a fan of the 2nd and 3rd films though, I thought they were a bit pants and I absolutely LOATHE movies where the protagonist has the killer at their mercy, unconscious on the floor and they just leave him alive and run off, it annoys the absolute crap out of me, I usually turn the film off right at that point when it happens, it can ruin any film I'm watching.
I don't Know why but for years, ever since I was a kid, I merged This movie with the wrong turn series and Laid to rest. Non of which I watched as a kid, I just remember seeing Movie covers and commercials for them on tv, and for some reason, I combined the plot of all three together. I finaly sat down last year to watch the wrong turn series and was shocked out how differnt the films were from the one in my head. So I basically thought the Wrong Turn Series was about a group of four kids taking the wrong road in the middle of a desert town, then getting chased down by a group of muntant cannibals, One of which drives a big Semi-Truck, and another who wears a chrome Skull Mask.
Love me some Steve Zahn. He is a great actor and truly shines in indie work and screwball comedies. So funny. Also love the first Joy Ride. Thought it was a lot of fun.
I remember the first Joy Ride, just barely, but haven't seen either of the sequels, & was only aware of the first sequel. I remember that the first one just kind of came & went.
I was the first like! Never been this early before. Love your videos and always enjoy them even if they are about movies I've never seen. Thank you for all your hard work.
@@michaelwebster-clark9865 no the first film was released here as Roadkill in the early 2000s, the second film was called Roadkill 2. The third film was never even released here. Should have given a bit more info on the plot of the first one. From the outside it looks like another generic movie but the inner workings of it are where the movie shines a bit. The scene where the trucker is killing someone in the next motel room because he thinks it's these guys playing a prank was pretty good.
In the category of movies we didnt know were part of a franchise becasuse his sequels were released straight to video, the Joy Ride series is at the same level with the Open Water series
I've been enjoying your videos and clicked on this because I liked this 90's Hitcher Rip directed by John Dahl which I found because of Red Rock West. I was wondering also how you might describe Leelee Sobieski. "Pod Person Helen Hunt" Too Good!
The first one is definitely the best of the bunch in my opinion. Crazy that it was already 21 years ago....Thoroughly enjoyed that one when it came out. Loved the Helen Hunt reference. I always thought Sobieski looked like Hunts daughter lmao.
Hey Josh, good episode, I’ve always loved the first film. So here’s some interesting trivia, here in the UK the title was changed to Roadkill, so part 3 would’ve been Roadkill, Roadkill? Lol
The most memorable thing in the first movie is the extended nude Walker/Zahn scene. The other 2 Rides would have much better if they included scenes like that.
Great video, Josh! This is one of the few franchises that I think all of the movies are enjoyable. Like, the quality varies, but none are terrible IMO.
Just putting in my vote that from now on you only do timelines for non-franchises you couldn’t care less about. Your sense of give a shit in the presentation of these 3 films is comedically palpable.
She isn't technically his girlfriend yet, she's a girl he spent like 10 years crushing over. So is his douchey roommate behavior forgiven since he is just trying to cure a bad case of blueballs?
Joyride reminds me of wrong turn I am not sure if you have done them yet but I will edit and eventually get that chance to see that video when you do or maybe already have that out already so yeah I just think that does Rios entry great that you did this one I just never seen them before Maybe it’s because I never had a chance to watch them at all yet but I do want to suggest that you do the Harry Potter movies so I would like to suggest them you don’t mind doing it as a request by me if you don’t mind doing the Harry Potter films and I hope that you get that chance to add that to your video list that will be awesome if you do this I’m sure that the people that will watch you would love to see it and saw it I
ngl joy ride 3 great me bent how the fuck are they pulling a trailer with a car on it with a blazer homie its a 4.3 you not hauling ass well pulling shit trust me i got a 2002 blazer i love my blazer to death but you not about to keep up with or get away from anything with all the weight behind it
Always had fun quoting the first one. Caaaaaaaaaandy Cane...

You mentioned Saw, but Duel and The Hitcher are also likely sources of inspiration.
This might sound weird, but Joy Ride 2: Dead Ahead is one of my quintessential horror movies. In that it helped me really get into the genre.

Well what you had in your mind is actually better than the real plot lmao.
Hope you reach one million subscribers soon! Happy that you did one of my fav movies “The Reanimator”
Uh yeah, soon.
Love this small series. Always a joy to see Paul Walker even if it was for 1 movie.
R.I.P Walker. It's still unreal he's gone tbh.
Love me some Steve Zahn. He is a great actor and truly shines in indie work and screwball comedies. So funny. Also love the first Joy Ride. Thought it was a lot of fun.
"Pod person Helen Hunt" LMAO!

It probably would have completely bombed if not for the success of The Fast and The Furious a few months before this was released.

banner day
These films are called Roadkill in my country. I watched the original a few months ago with my fiance. It was a lot better than I was expecting.
Did they change the subtitle of the 3rd movie or go with "Roadkill 3: Roadkill"?

Ken Kirzinger who played Jason in FvJ and the Mutant Father (Pa) in Wrong Turn 2, played Rusty in Joy Ride 3.
Hell yeah I suggested this the other day. Thank you
The first movie has always been a favorite of mine, never watched the sequels for obvious reasons.
Joy Ride was originally called Road Kill, I like the film 👍
In the first movie that isn’t his girlfriend, they were just friends. Probably doesn’t matter for continuity.
Enjoyed the video

I'm surprised Fast and Furious hasn't taken some inspiration to do a LOT more goofy shit with 18 wheelers
Keep up the great work 👍
The first is great ..I love your commentary big fan
I have always been a huge Horror freak, but I too, have never seen any of these.
pod person Helen Hunt. LOL. that's not Helen Hunt, bro. that's Leelee Sobieski

I loved this movie as a kid ,the first one anyway
Idk why but I can still hear him talking through the c.b. radio calling one of them candycane
Please do a compilation of spider films, I feel like it'll be a fun mix of both good and bad
I’m pretty sure the first movie was written by J.J. Fucking Abrams.
What about a Dead Last list on movies about giant insects/spiders? Would love to see that
I’m apart of the forth film that’s coming next year but this time it’s just titled “Rusty Nail”
I never knew there were boring sequels
I saw the first one in the theater. It was fine. I didn't know it had sequels.

They tried to ban Joy Ride here in the UK, due to a spate of stolen cars being taken on Joy Rides, resulting in some death's
I actually didn't know there were more of these. Better you watch them than me.
I always wish the third one was a prequel

I seen that movie I damn near forgot about this movie
That's not Helen Hunt. That's Leelee Sobieski!
My assumption is that there were 2 or more working with rusty nail
I think you may have forgotten about Joyride with tobey maguire. It has no connection with rusty nail but it has the same name
I'm still a little bit in love with Leelee Sobieski lol
I've only seen the first one and it's alright. Btw, this is another movie to add to the list of horror films made by directors not known for horror.
Love the first one but the others were just ok.
Would love to see a phantasm timeline
He has done one already!
@@Jesse__H I missed that 1 when I looked them up not sure how thx will go look again

Are CB radios that prolific among non-truckers? That's like the least believable thing about these, i think.
I don't remember there being 3, but I did enjoy the first one. Still, give me Rutger Hauer's The Hitcher any day.

This was called RoadKill in the U.K. I thought it was great. The sequels tho are terrible.
Hey candycane

Can you do a timeline video of ssm raimi spider man trilogy
The nick character from the second one is just like the smaller brother from the first one then. God I hate that character!

Leelee is much better looking then Helen Hunt.I don't know how you can mix the two of them up.Your bad
Woah, woah, woah… Josh is swearing in videos now, outside of quoting characters?? Nice!
