- BBC South West local news item relating to proposed upgrade of the Waterloo to Exeter line - features 50049, an Intercity Executive 47 and HST.

Class 47s were stopped being used on the Exeter to London Waterloo line via Honiton, Yeovil Junction, Gillingham Dorset, Salisbury, Andover, Basingstoke, Woking and Clapham Junction in May 1993. Replaced by class 158s and 159s in 1993 for nearly 30 years.
Local enthusiast David Medley at 1.03. Sadly missed.
Ok, tho 55 million is pocket change, and thats because the tresury is grredy as je- CEOs, and that is fine 1500 years ago but not when major infrastructure investment is needed
New trains (Class 159's), extra track (removing some that was singled) and more services... yet somehow this was turned into a bad news day!
