I have the same bike, but a 2004. Ducati replaced my fuel tank a couple years ago for free when it swelled. Thanks Ducati! Had to replace seeping fork seals this spring, other than that, no problems. It's a tall bike, fits me better than any bike I've had before. I have done a few minor mods. I love the suspension, stability and how great it handles on rougher roads. I'm running Michelin Pilot Road 3's and like them. A fun bike, great torque, feels very light and nimble even with a passenger! Thanks for your review!

I used to have a 2006 Multistrada 620, and I STILL miss that bike! I totaled it the same year ('06) because I was young and stupid, and I've had larger capacity bikes since then but still miss the Multi. You've got a great bike there, señor.

I have the same 2003 with termignoni for one year. I love it! So much torque and lightness. It's great for mountain twisty roads. It's like a race track bike on a tall suspension. So nimble! A great and fun bike to own. Definitely recommended!

Just picked up a 2006 620 Dark, that inspired me to seek out your review of it's 'big brother' excellent review, like your commentary too! Mine had all maint done incl. belts & vlv adjust
So I should be good. The guy even gave me the factory panniers & tank bag, with only 8k mi. I couldn't pass it up!

Welcome to the Multistrada world. It really is a great bike that fits the bill for most street uses and occasional track and even offroad use. I've since moved on to a 2013 Multi which has not been as reliable and I miss the simplicity of my 2005 at times. I have to do a video review of my 2013 at some point.

im looking at one but a 2004 with 26k miles and it looks good. May need a new clutch which isnt a big deal. How are these bikes on power? Im a big guy 280-300 lbs dude. Will it be like riding a KX80 dirtbike? I come from an R1, GSXR1000 and the BUSA1300. Let me know.

like the review - i live in Austin, just bought a 2008 1100s and love it. My biggest worry is the swelling fuel tank problem. as you say the bike has a great combination of power, lightness, comfort (I have a corbin), riding position, etc. I got mine in December and just clicked over 1,000 miles of winter riding. now spring is here im going to really have some fun....new pirelli angel GTs two weeks ago and now i just cant wait for weekends..

I just traded a 2007 KLR 650 for 2004 Multistrada 1000DS. The bike is not as nice as yours but, oh man, I really love it and you have inspired me to do a review on it. I feel it is one of the best bikes I have owned. I have owned many bikes. What kind of setup do you use for your camera work? GoPro? How do you do the sound so clear? Thanks.

Great review. Let us know your thoughts since your last review. Been thinking of getting a 2005-2008 Multi. Dang valves/belt maintenance scares the crap out of me.

Do you feel any buzzing or vibration in the foot pegs, grips, or seat at 65-70 mph? How is it at highway speeds in terms of vibration and buzzing...touring comfort?

Got a S2R 800, thinking to either upgrade to a S4R or this 1000DS. How's handle so far.

Hwy 10 through El Paso. It's looks a lot different nowadays.

Looks like El Paso Tx. I'm looking at getting an 04 model. Anything I should look out for?

+Desert Rider It is El Paso. Some known issues include a swollen gas tank, issues with the electronic display, also check that there is a service history with valve adjustments.
