Thanks for the info. I am in Canada and recently bought one (upgrade from my BH Discovery 2200) and was going bonkers trying to figure out what it was so chatty when out on a playground. Thanks to you I have a better idea of settings to change to as well it was nice to hear your machine and know that it sounds similar to mine. I have been detecting in coin mode but may try jewellery next time. Also wanted to add that I learned that if you hold down ground balance and pinpoint buttons you get a custom setting to change sensitivity Ed and E0 (Ed is apparently more sensitive setting and E0 is not (and the one you want to be in)). Another feature I love about this package is that they included the coil covers with it which is nice to have when you are swinging in rocky areas.
Hi Jay, thanks for commenting buddy, it's great to know the video helped. I haven't been tempted by the "secret setting" yet, originally Quest advised not to use it but they seem to have accepted that people want it and they have provided info on a few websites now. Let me know how you get on bud. Nice machines. ATB MMMD.
I've been eagerly waiting for this video Max and as I anticipated your explanation of this machine was every bit as favourable as I expected. Sorely tempted to take the Q40 plunge myself in the New Year. Your time taken in providing these video accounts is very much appreciated. Best regards, Jon.
Hi Jon. It's comments like this that make it all worthwhile. I'm so pleased it was helpful. I really like the Q40. It's not a revelation, but for what you pay I think it's a lovely machine to use. All the best.
Hi, thanks for your message earlier, I took it up on myself to remove the screen cover on the Quest Q 40, I've done it before on my garrett AT PRO Stanley blade is all you need it was moisture trapped between but if it wasn't for your comment earlier saying there is a screen cover I wouldn't have done it I was 99%sure but not 100% and you made it that so thankyou, and for peice of mind the inner shell is completely cased in water tight, when Quest made the 40 they put a lot of thought into it fantastic machine, I just wish the would hurry up a release the 15x13"coil at this moment in time quest only have a picture of it :)

Hi Gordon. I can't really say what the Q20 is like, but I doubt there's a great deal of difference. If your going for the blade coil the balance is lovely and the raptor is more nose heavy. They are both good coils. I'll have a video out on the blade coil in the next few days. All the best MMMD
Hi Max, I notice that you did not mention the depth gauge on the Q40. I have the Quest Pro and the depth gauge is unusable as it goes up and down like a yoyo, My question is, does the Q40 have the same problem? I asked Marky Mark the same question and he acknowledged that sadly the gauge was not very precise.
Hi Des. Depth gauges tend to be erratic. I always think they were meant for US coin shooting where they can be a bit more reliable. I also ignored it on the Garrett 400i as I found it the same. In my humble opinion, tones first, numbers second, depth gauges way down the line. Targets are so varied in size and conductivity, plus depth. I think depth gauges are trying to pin the tail on the donkey, Hope that helps. ATB MMMD
