For the first time in ages, I feel like I have been depriving myself of an excellent game. I just took a look at Freedom Planet two days ago and the videos are astounding. Routinely, I had previously dismissed it as just another Sonic clone because of the cheesy fan art-like poster and, boy, was I wrong! I just took a peak at the gameplay and cutscene videos online and I know for certain that I will be buying this game. Such lush environments, well-scripted dialogue and a killer plot to make it something worthwhile to play for. To think this is "only" an indie game, too? I personally think this is much better than most of the AAA-studio stuff I have seen recently. The story itself helps you grow to love your team of heroes, but the proportion and depth to the threat they are up against is so intricate and well-crafted that words alone simply cannot do it justice. It breathes life into the so-called “tired and old” platformer, showing that, contrary to naysayers and modern gamers, this genre still can thrive in our world of modern gaming.

Not the fact that she's yanking a doodle. "Hearts" in Japanese to American video game culture come from the symbolism of internal organ structure, which in turn points to the health state of a character.

I've played this game multiple times, but only recently when I played the Switch port did I realize that Lord Brevon CUT PART OF LILAC'S LIMBS OFF at 38:54! You can see them just behind her and it looks like there's blood! This game is darker than I thought! Can't imagine the emotional rollercoaster I'm gonna go through with the sequel.
Dawn M Bennett is the perfect voice actor for Lilac. Her performance is simply top notch. Also, she really killed it with the performance during the torture scene.
One of the details I enjoyed about the cutscenes. They treated the gameplay and aforementioned cutscenes the same, so you still felt a heavy sense of ludonarrative dissonance within, similar to Kid Icarus Uprising.
I am so glad someone posted this. Freedom Planet is one seriously off the hook game. I just can't figure out how anyone can keep up with this, Sonic, and other speed run games. They must have amazing reflexes.

It’s cool that this video shows the scenes that existed pre-patch, even if they are few and short. The cooties line, the line about Milla and Carol agreeing on something, yeah they had their tonal and lack of context issues, but it they were attempts at some lighthearted character moments
Freedom Planet is such an awesome Indie game so much, it deserves to have Funko Pop Vinyl Figures since I find the characters here lovable. Just imagine, Sash Lilac & the gang as Funkos. Dawn M. Bennett's characters Frosch & Kale got their own so why not Lilac?
I just noticed something. (SPOILERS) Lilac is slashed by Brevon's Dagger. We already know what Brevon's dagger does, for he also used it on Milla, who then turned into a giant beast. Why didn't Lilac? What could it have been that kept that? Is that an activated transformation? Or is it something that has to do with her being a Dragon? No matter what, it's still a mystery.

Yeah, they really didn't put much effort into making Neera sympathetic. She felt like she was only nominally a "good guy", and could just as easily have been working for the other side. Here's how I think it should have played out. Neera: "Stand down, dragon!" Lilac: "I HAVE TO FIND THEM!! I... I have to..." (collapses) Neera: "I won't fall for your tricks, Sash Lilac." (summons cage) (Lilac doesn't respond.) (Neera lowers her spear in confusion.) (Lilac doesn't respond.) (Neera approaches slowly, and her expression turns to horror.) Neera: (yelling to officers offscreen) "Call for an ambulance! NOW!!" (Neera turns back to Lilac.) Neera: "...how could they do this to you...??" [Next scene: Lilac is in a hospital bed, and Neera stands guard.] Lilac: (bolts awake) "CAROL! MILLA!" Neera: "Hey, hey! Take it easy." Lilac: "No! You can't keep me here! I have to find them!" I tell ya I see it every time I play adventure mode with her and also when that painful part is about to happen: my heart starts beating and legs start shaking too.
Another thing is that just 3 days ago I saw that part again and this time I could NOT handle it at all, so I quickly took off my headphones, turned down the sound and covered my eyes.

I'm pretty skeptical when it comes to furry games, not because I hate furry artwork, but because I usually see a lot of smutt. But this game? It has a lot of good voiceacting. Surprisingly. Also: "What I really want to know is why Spade is working for Mayor Zao." "Mmmmm, buttloads of cash?" OMG that made me chuckle. Just the way she said it. The Villain appears to be an insectiod version of Darth Vader with Dr. Robotnik's mustache for eyebrows, and fish tank storm troopers. What? You know it feels like Sonic mixed with Star Wars. And Avatar (with all the Asian/Korean/Chinese inspired stuff and diplomacy between warring nations).

It's ok if furry anthro characters are self serious about the plot, but sometimes they need to realize the absurdity of their situation. Would it be better if they add it a type of mode in the game that would allow you to see all of Lilac and Carols cut scenes strange through. The way I see it, I'd say the mode would be called "Watch mode" and when you click on the mode it will start by showing the beginning of the story where Brevon crashed his ship and once it gets to that character select part where you choose Lilac or Carol, you can click on one and it will show every cut scene. It would also have the same type of options: (Play symbol, Fast forward symbol, skip symbol and stop symbol). It will literally look like you're watching a movie like this youtube video. Another thing is that if its your first time playing Freedom Planet then you would have to unlock the mode by playing through the game.
I've heard people say the voice acting is bad but it isn't. What's bad are the recordings. Obviously it wasn't made in a studio so all the actors have used different setups but it sounds like there hasn't been an attempt to correct this and the lines have just been put in the game raw. Hense why some lines are much louder than others and that.
I prefer to think Sonic's tortures were more of a psychological kind, so, no wonder his body isn't affected. After all, the Phantom Ruby is a marvelous thing, when it comes to creating perfect illusions. Also, "tortures" part was added in dub only. Originally, Sonic was just held here as a prisoner.
After so many Sonic games(Since Sonic Adventure 1) that failed to have a good story or even good voice acting(With the exception of Sonic Colors & onwards), the voice acting & story of this game proves that GalaxyTrail Games does what Sega don't.
Have you guys notice that certain dialogue from the cutscenes from the Wii U version has been cut from the Steam version(The noticeable one being the 3 main heroines watching the movie)? Was it because of that game-breaking glitch that cause the company take out certain dialogue just to make sure that Adventure Mode is stable?
Xiron I looked at the difference between the cutscenes of the Steam version & the Wii U version. As far as I know, certain dialogue from the Wii U version has been cut from the Steam version. This is probably due to the fact GalaxyTrail Games have to cut the dialogue in the attempt to make Adventure Mode stable as possible in the Wii U version. But even then, recent news claims there's still one bug in that particular cutscene causes a game-breaking bug according to Stevie DiDuro. Luckily for me as I played Adventure Mode during the last weeked, I didn't encounter it at all. Thank god! Maybe I should not go back to Adventure Mode & stick on getting the rest of the achievements & trying out higher difficulties. In case I get bored with it, I should play other things like Pokemon.
Dominic Anderson It's probably for the best to get the "filler" dialogue to be cut just to make sure the Wii U version's Adventure Mode to be stable. But according to recent news from Stevie DiDuro, there's still that game-stopping bug in a certain cutscene in which Syntax the robot says "Hello sir. Have you beheaded the intruders yet?". I was hoping that GalaxyTrail Games will patch that up soon. Until then however, I won't touch Adventure Mode yet.
How does Torque escape to help Carol and Milla rescue Lilac and what was Spade doing? Maybe they'll give wor the answers in Spade and Torques adventure maybe. Oh and I'd be amazed if they make ya play Milla's exclusive level twice in HER adventure mode if she gets one! XD

Yeah, they really didn't put much effort into making Neera sympathetic. She felt like she was only nominally a "good guy", and could just as easily have been working for the other side.
Here's how I think it should have played out.
Neera: "Stand down, dragon!"
Lilac: "I HAVE TO FIND THEM!! I... I have to..." (collapses)
Neera: "I won't fall for your tricks, Sash Lilac." (summons cage)
(Lilac doesn't respond.)
(Neera lowers her spear in confusion.)
(Lilac doesn't respond.)
(Neera approaches slowly, and her expression turns to horror.)
Neera: (yelling to officers offscreen) "Call for an ambulance! NOW!!"
(Neera turns back to Lilac.)
Neera: "...how could they do this to you...??"
[Next scene: Lilac is in a hospital bed, and Neera stands guard.]
Lilac: (bolts awake) "CAROL! MILLA!"
Neera: "Hey, hey! Take it easy."
Lilac: "No! You can't keep me here! I have to find them!"
(Lilac tries to escape, but Neera grabs her.)
Neera: "You're not leaving. Not in this condition."
Lilac: "LET ME GO!!"
(Neera and two doctors come in and help her back to bed.)
Lilac: "If you let them die, I'll never forgive you!!"
Neera: "We'll bring them back. Alive."
(Lilac calms a bit.)
Neera: "You all still have time to serve. I'm not letting you get out of it that easy."
Lilac: "We're not criminals."
Neera: "Either way, you're not leaving my sight. Now get some rest."
Lilac: "You don't have the right to keep me here!"
Neera: "I said, get some rest."
Lilac: "What do you care?!"
Neera: "It's my responsibility to see that you recover."
Lilac: "I don't need your help!"
Neera: "Yes you do!"
Lilac: "I can look after myself! I can handle anything!!"
Neera: "DO YOU THINK YOU'RE INVINCIBLE?!"
(Lilac is stunned into silence.)
Neera: (takes a deep breath) "...You were tortured half to death. You need rest."
(Lilac opens her mouth to retort, but shuts up again.)
Neera: "This 'Brevon'... he would go so far as to torture a child..."
(Neera shakes in anger.)
Neera: "You stupid girl... you have no idea how lucky you are to be in one piece..."

That Guy...Brian simple Lilac damaged Brevon enough to kill Brevon after Lilac gets damaged but manages to survive with no effort.
Brevon specifically said that his soldiers don't require oxygen so there's no reason to believe that he needs it either.

Would it be better if they add it a type of mode in the game that would allow you to see all of Lilac and Carols cut scenes strange through. The way I see it, I'd say the mode would be called "Watch mode" and when you click on the mode it will start by showing the beginning of the story where Brevon crashed his ship and once it gets to that character select part where you choose Lilac or Carol, you can click on one and it will show every cut scene. It would also have the same type of options: (Play symbol, Fast forward symbol, skip symbol and stop symbol). It will literally look like you're watching a movie like this youtube video. Another thing is that if its your first time playing Freedom Planet then you would have to unlock the mode by playing through the game.
That's because Brevon was gonna be Dr.Eggmen even though Stephen cut that out.
I've heard people say the voice acting is bad but it isn't. What's bad are the recordings. Obviously it wasn't made in a studio so all the actors have used different setups but it sounds like there hasn't been an attempt to correct this and the lines have just been put in the game raw. Hense why some lines are much louder than others and that.

Sonic gets tortured for six months straight and calls it a borefest.
Lilac gets tortured for two minutes for interrogation and it nearly kills her.
I prefer to think Sonic's tortures were more of a psychological kind, so, no wonder his body isn't affected. After all, the Phantom Ruby is a marvelous thing, when it comes to creating perfect illusions.
Also, "tortures" part was added in dub only. Originally, Sonic was just held here as a prisoner.
After so many Sonic games(Since Sonic Adventure 1) that failed to have a good story or even good voice acting(With the exception of Sonic Colors & onwards), the voice acting & story of this game proves that GalaxyTrail Games does what Sega don't.

Xiron I looked at the difference between the cutscenes of the Steam version & the Wii U version. As far as I know, certain dialogue from the Wii U version has been cut from the Steam version. This is probably due to the fact GalaxyTrail Games have to cut the dialogue in the attempt to make Adventure Mode stable as possible in the Wii U version. But even then, recent news claims there's still one bug in that particular cutscene causes a game-breaking bug according to Stevie DiDuro. Luckily for me as I played Adventure Mode during the last weeked, I didn't encounter it at all. Thank god! Maybe I should not go back to Adventure Mode & stick on getting the rest of the achievements & trying out higher difficulties. In case I get bored with it, I should play other things like Pokemon.

But according to recent news from Stevie DiDuro, there's still that game-stopping bug in a certain cutscene in which Syntax the robot says "Hello sir. Have you beheaded the intruders yet?". I was hoping that GalaxyTrail Games will patch that up soon. Until then however, I won't touch Adventure Mode yet.
