Oh I had always wanted this video! So glad to see casta diva, the one from samson et dalila and "e lucevan le stelle". I love those too. When it comes do arias, puccini is my favourite. His musical romanticism just speaks to me! So here's my list:
    1) Che gelida manina
    2) si mi chiamano mimi
    3) o mio babbino caro
    4) vissi d'arte
    5) casta diva

      @FranciscaRigaud 5 лет назад

@@MelodiousHeart1 Oh yes, Nessun Dorma is epic. My voice coach was not at all in agreement with me singing it, especially because my version repeats the end. She thought that a light soprano like me would never pull it off and moreover Puccini meant it to be sung by a man and her husband is the n. 1 authority on Puccini so that created a few problems but.... in the end she was not too unhappy and believe me, she is very demanding. Like with all these kinds of lists... almost impossible to choose just five. So I'll focus on solo arias only (no duets/ensembles), and I chose one each for soprano, mezzo, tenor, baritone and bass. I am adding links to some good performances of these arias, and I wish they had English subtitles, but they are so difficult to find.
    1. Soprano: Puskai pogibnu ya, no pryezhde (Letter scene) from Eugene Onegin (Tchaikovsky) ruclips.net/video/rhe1mGvP_Tg/видео.html
I am a male, but I can completely understand the emotions this young lady goes through in her torment to write a letter to the man she fell in love with. Tchaikovsky did a fantastic job in capturing all that in the music. And it is beautiful.
    2. Mezzo: D'amour l'ardente flamme from La Damnation de Faust (Berlioz) ruclips.net/video/Hy3e-j8MxW8/видео.html
This must surely be one of the most beautiful opera arias in the entire French repertoire! The video is old and not HiFi quality, but we have the wonderful Jessye Norman singing. And there are English subtitles.
    3. Tenor: Ah! Mes amis... Pour mon âme from La Fille du Régiment (Donizetti) ruclips.net/video/z96fc9twlhI/видео.html
I chose this, because it is such a joyous piece and a wonderful show-off piece for any tenor who can sing high Cs. And here we have the fantastic Chinese tenor Yijie Shi... what a voice! And he does the encore too!
    4. Baritone: Si può? from I Pagliacci (Leoncavallo) ruclips.net/video/ksFGtLcjMDg/видео.html
What a way for a baritone to open an opera! The section starting from around 3 minutes in is just to die for. This is also an old video, but we do have the great Sherrill Milnes in stunning good voice here (those high notes at the end... WOW).
    5. Bass: Ella giammai m'amo from Don Carlo (Verdi) ruclips.net/video/MfAS5jOi-nM/видео.html
One of the grandest of all operas, and so much to do for not one, but three basses! The main bass role of course is the King, and here is his heart breaking aria about understanding that his wife does not love him. Bravo Ildar Abdrazakov!
I hope you will enjoy these :-) xxx

From time to time I come across other pieces that make me think of you and wonder what you would think of them. I have loved classical music all my life and I am now an old man so I've heard and appreciated much. That love drew me to your channel and your wonderful taste in music. Keep up the fabulous work!

@@mikehebert7936 Oh, what a wonderful comment! Actually, my knowledge of opera music is quite limited, since I don't listen to them as much as I listen to other types of music. But I absolutely love the ones I listen to. I am always looking for new pieces and new musicians, so please feel free to share any pieces with me any time. Thank you!

Guess what! I’m eternal Maria Callas, my channel was just terminated! Due to copyright!!! I’m so mad! There are channels online that post animals being killed! But mine was just artists! I am working to get it back! By the way for your videos, just watch out, make sure that the footage you use is not copyright. Thank you❤️❤️❤️

Oh no... That's too bad!! It's also very disappointing to me, too, since I really liked your channel. I planned to watch "For the First Time" again soon, but at least I got to watch it once. I have seen this happen to many channels, so I do need to watch out, since almost all my videos have at least 1 or 2 copyrighted videos. I guess I've been lucky. Thank you for visiting. Will check out your channel soon.

Melodious Heart thank you❤️ I hope RUclips will accept my appeal. They said we must terminate your channel due to using footage form Maria by Callas. Why does music and the law have such different motives and goals?

@@michaelli3190 "...footage from Maria by Callas" doesn't make sense at all. "Maria by Callas"??? I didn't know we could appeal after getting a channel terminated. I really do hope that you would get the channel back. Good luck, and keep me posted.

Why no aria from Mozart or Verdi, the two biggest composers of operas?

Dear Kim, I love all these arias that you proposed, but my favorite, I think it is "Si dolce il tormento" by Claudio Monteverdi, performed by the great P. Jaroussky

I uploaded for the first time by Mario Lanza. I know you said you wanted to watch it a second time. Eternal Maria Callas is not seeming to be doing well. RUclips said there’s nothing they can do. But there can be hope......... thank you and best regards... I don’t think I’ll start another channel.... I’ll just let my old Maria Callas channel be the last. Thank you! For everything...😞 just click on this channel and you’ll find I uploaded it. Please watch out for copyright, use my experience as a learning opportunity, goodbye.....
