Craftsman 20V Cordless Trimmer Review (Sudz One Take Review)

- Rising from the grave of sears - Craftsman is still alive and kicking. (or at least Alive, Anyway...)
I've always thoroughly enjoyed their tools and have the cordless drills from before sears went away. After some quick digging, Craftsman has been bought by Black and Decker - And it shows. These tools are very light, and I don't feel like they'll last long like the "old" craftsman tools I have - However new they are perfectly functional, easy to use and self explanatory. Lets just say its a good thing I caught the trimmer at the end of the video!
This 20V trimmer has JUST enough power to get the job done, however you'll never tame the wild with this trimmer - You'll just maintain your yard on a regular basis.
it has a lot of thoughtful features, although The auto dispenser seems to jam up fairly frequently (I've used it twice now and each time I've had to remove the hub, feed some through and it seems to start working again) But I particularly love the included hook on the underside - It comes out and its able to hang from a flat ledge (a deck board on the wall of my garage)
Overall a good initial product for a suburban house to keep control of your yard. Not enough gusto or build quality to survive out of the city.
I enjoyed this review, it was much more informational than the others I’ve watched.
Fiskars StaySharp Max Reel Mower ruclips.net/user/postUgkxTPN04aT-Qdjr_KS3ql7ng8wnU3wwsCqk also recommend This is what all push mowers should strive for. It was easy to push. It cut the lawn. The blades are sharp, very sharp. The one minus that everyone should be aware of is you need to be very careful taking the cutting unit out of the box. There’s a plastic guard so you don’t cut fingers as you take the main unit out of the box but it’s not taped down. As I took the unit out, I ended cutting a piece of my shirt. The plastic guard moved and my shirt touched one of the blades.
Definitely considering this craftsman cordless weed-eater later this summer cause I’m getting tired of using my current 2 stroke weed-eater and all the issues with tons of maintenance to deal with it. Thx for the vid, Appreciate the review
I bought one of these a couple years ago after having shoulder surgery. It was very difficult to start up and use my gas trimmer while recovering. I've been generally pleased with the Craftsman. It trims my 1/2 acre with power to spare and is light and easy to maneuver.
I just tried trimming my 1/4 acre and have recharged it 3 times Still not finished but my arms hurt and the battery is dead again. But then it was overgrown and I'm asking a lot of it. We'll see...
Lmfao the end “thats a fluke” reminds me of the standing broom challenge 😂 thanks for the review man, bouta try one out for myself!
Thanks, you actually convinced me into buying one just to have one
Yes, thank you also, for this. It is greatly appreciated.
Thanks man, you actually helped me make a shopping decision.
Thanks! Just bought the combo w/the blower at Lowe's for 130. It should be sufficient for my yard.
Hello, how did it hold up for both machines for the last year??
I just bought it too but haven't used it yet.
@@court4543 I've been using it over a year and works really good. Bought a backup battery to keep in reserve
@@court4543 you will need to buy a few more batteries
I bought the combo about 2 years ago and have only used it 2 times because the battery doesn’t last more than 10 mins
I just bought mines on the $99 deal (combo) hope da battery lasts😮
All the "home" brands of power tools are owned by the same parent company and are built to meet different price points vs build quality standards. aka Black & Decker, Craftsman and DeWalt. aka Low, Mid, High. They all work great. The only question is for how long.
I bought a new Craftsman 4 cycle gas trimmer and wow what a waste of money! Engine seized after a few months and angle head started making a lot of squealing noises almost from the start no matter how much grease I pumped into it. A little more than a year later it is dead. Craftsman wouldn't even answer my emails for help. I will never buy another Craftsman yard tool. I now have a 40v Ryobi brushless string trimmer and so far, so good.
Thank you for this review!!!! I appreciate this very much!
Already have Craftsman battery SawZaw. Might as well complete the set. A pair of batteries is $100 you guys, make good use for them.
Craftsman is not a manufacturer. Sears Roebuck (may it R.I.P.) used to OEM tools made by many other manufacturers (just as with their "Kenmore" appliances) and the original manufacturers put the Craftsman name on them. Sears ensured that they did this with high quality tools and they stood behind them. Their hand tools had a lifetime warranty. The Craftsman name became known for quality and peace of mind due to their no-hassle return policy, no questions asked. The Craftsman name had such a good reputation that even though Sears and Kmart are now gone, the Craftsman name is being carried on. But the Craftsman products are made by a wide array of manufacturers depending on the product. These modern day Craftsman string trimmers are made by Black and Decker. Black and Decker makes consumer-grade products. DeWalt is owned by the same parent company as Black and Decker and DeWalt makes the higher-end commercial-grade products.
The 4 amp hour battery will last so much longer for larger yards. All the battery sizes are interchangeable.
Sold. Looks like you gave it a good test
1st helpful video i found outa 40 thank u so much was wonder how the string keep getting longer smh
I use mine on lo and I have none of the issues you mentioned.
Man on high that things sounds like it has a 454 in it!!!! WOW
VERY GOOD REVIEW BUT CONVINCED ME TO GET GAS.. LOL SEEMS TO BOG DOWN FOR MY APPLICATION
Craftsman was exclusive to Sears, Sears released the brand when they went Bankrupt and folded, Lowes picked up the Brand. Craftsman dropped its lifetime warrantees, and started importing its parts from overseas instead of manufacturing its products here in the States.
I was barely able to get my Craftsman lawn mower from the 90's fixed from Sears. Also I have Briggs& Stratton from JC Penney that was made in 1977 that still works.
I’m like 5,8 and I had to use that trimmer instead of my gas one and my back started to hurt a lot after a few minutes
nice catch & review
I bypass all those safety buttons by running a screw through the side button when it's pressed in. You'll thank yourself.
Looks great for my 12 year old to help out with weed eating around our 20 acer farm
Light enough but probably not strong enough to get through thick grass/weed
Only lasts up to ten minutes then you have to charge it again. But it does work really well. And you don't get messy from the grass like you would with the gas ones unless you don't have the guard there. But I had a guard on my gas one and I still got grass all over my pants and shoes.
What are you cutting with it? I can do my whole yard, on low, and still have battery power left.
@@derekwebster8375 Its a pretty big yard. I just bought two more batteries the other day. Sorry it took so long to get back to you.
Mine last 44 minute's and takes 2 hours to charge.
For midgets!? Lol I’m out of here before the lollipop gang swoops in. Thanks for the review btw. 👍
Yeah, the lollipop gang is no joke. They've busted more knee caps than the WWE superstars. Lol
Largest golden retriever peninsula?
How can I keep trimmings itself without slow and stop??
Craftsmen was bought by Stanley tools its also Portable cable black and decker and dewalt as well as other brands.
As for the Old Sears power tools you haven't bought any for a wile, becuse I've had 2 of them fail in a years time when Sears owned the brand. After looking at wher the motor is on this tool and a defective tool I had from sears in the past I'm going to pass on this Grass with get into the motor and burn it up, I stick with my origanl plan and buy M18 Milwalkie tools Yes I'll pay a lot more money I know, but I'll get what I paid for and not some crap thats going to last one season.
How do you remove the whole housing to put a brush cutter head on?
Is this pretty good at preventing debris from hitting you or does that not depend on the trimmer?
As a professional landscaper I would say it’s more on how u angle it rather than the trimmer so I would recommend that u trim on the left side of ur trimmer as I think most of not all trimmers rotate clockwise
I just bought this at Lowe’s in my town. Is anybody else going through the battery fast. I’m out using it. I’m charging the battery. I’m using the trimmer. The battery goes fast through it’s charge when I’m using the trimmer.
2 years later and I can still get through my yard on "high" speed. If i let it go too wild then yes, I've got to recharge it but if I'm using it every week or two its no problem.
I noticed the same thing
What r the gray lock buttons used for
Hi.. my problem is that after charging my battery for at 4-5 hours it keeps stopping and I'm keeping my finger on that thing that slides back and forth. Can you tell me why you think it keeps stopping....thanks
Take the battery out, and look at the shaft by the snippet head. I’ll bet that there’s something wrapped around it causing it to shut off so the motor doesn’t burn up.
For edging, how well does the wire work compared to a wheel?
My question is, how do I keep the battery from dying? It usually dies after about 5 minutes.
Sounds like your battery is toast. Don't forget to bring them inside for the winter.
trying to change my string and I can't get it to auto-feed. The instruction manual is useless. If anyone knows of a how to video or can make one to show me what i'm doing wrong that would be great.
Have u found one? I'm having same issue
As a midget I am offended that u r calling us little people midgets, I tell people I meet I am non binary and not a midget 😮
U just called yourself a midget bruh
The older ones had a button to tap the floor in order for more string to come out as your edging. These dont have a button to tap so how do you get more string to come out as you work?
Every time it stops spinning it releases about 1cm.
You push the "Feed line" button in when you want more string it's beside when you push to power your weed eater
Does anyone know if you can edge with this weed eater?
Weed whackin in Texas is a whole other deal.
EVERYTHING is bigger in texas. Even the weeds?
I just bought one. How do you make string longer?
The string gets longer once the wheel stops spinning. If it isn't getting longer it might be jammed or you're out of string.
Mine turns off every 10 seconds. What can that be?
Toast battery, OR something has wrapped around the shaft and bound up and is providing too much resistance to the motor.
Too bad battery only last bout 8 to 10 mnts fully charged
10 inch or 13 inch model?
Any tips for getting the string to feed out more? Even if I let it run I maybe have 2-3" of string that come out from the spool so it seems like it doesn't work as efficiently as it should. Thanks for any help!
Just start it and let it stop a few times.
Hi, my purchase came with a small metal bar about 5" long it was packaged inside with the safety shield / shroud .... cannot find any reference to the use of this small metal bar
is it red? it could be the edging guide.
Whoops wrong account. but yes, The only metal piece I had to attach was the red edging guide - Just lets you stand it up on end and have it appropriately distanced from the ground. Its been a year so maybe they've revised the design!
Anyone know how to remove the protector shield?
MRios1128 I don’t have this item but I wouldn’t recommend that. Seen trimmers wear out faster due to the removal of the shield
I kept it folded back for a while, but it's actually really useful. I would chew up line pretty quickly, but with the guide in place, it saves a lot of line.
model # please and price?
Can I use a 4.0 battery on It any body know
Yes, it’s be great for that.
Lowe’s bought craftsmen
I have about a half acre yard, will this be enough to get the edges. I am already invested in the v20 system
It won’t cut through heavy weeds but if you have spare batteries this would be perfect then. If you’re doing light work I’d think you could get through a full yard. It lasts about 15 minutes on high speed.
“Trimmer for midgets” 😂
😂😂😂😂
Do you know the run time
15 minutes on high speed seems about right
@@SudzReviews what do you think on low? Do you recommend this?
This 20volt is not good it goes dead after 20 minutes. Then it take 3 hours to charge .for another 20 minutes. I am throwing mine away and buying another brand.
Send it to me!
A trimmer for very short people😂
That weed wacker jts a piece crap battery die in 15 minutes
Get a different battery.... I have an acre and this thing rips the large weeds next to the field
Must be your battery is bad mine last way longer and the weed eater is great for me, a women, to use. It’s super lightweight. I just wish I knew if I could edge with it.
Buddy you need to do cardio
How do you use the red wire edge guide?
