    Hi, I’m 13 years old. I love your videos button and I’ve been watching them for over six years. I have always wanted to have an ax and power saw in my hand since I was a little boy I have bought several vintage axhead and I hung them. I have a double bit from the beginning of the logging age in the United States from 1873. I put handles and sharpened all of them because I started watching you. You inspired me buckin and I love your energy that you bring in all your videos. It’s so kind and warming.

      That's good kid. Keep doing what you're doing and don't do drugs. I was a junkie God saved my soul and changed my heart when I was in jail through a Baptist preacher that preached the gospel. The gospel is Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, and that he was buried and rose again the third day according to the scriptures. He shed his blood to pay for our sins so we could spend eternity in heaven with God. Eternity in heaven is a free gift.. and we receive it by trusting Jesus Christ finished work on the cross to get us to heaven. We receive his righteousness apply to our account because in order to get to heaven you need perfect righteousness. Your good works can't get you there, your baptism can't get you there, your church membership can't get you there it's all in Jesus Christ alone. If you want to trust Jesus Christ as your savior, call on him to forgive you for your sins and save your soul.

      This saw is a good bit heavier than a 500i, like 2 pounds or more. If you use it a lot, you’ll appreciate the weight savings. Buckin is just old school and tries to find any alternative to something with fuel injection. Which is totally fine! But if you just want to use a saw a lot, 500i’s weight is a wonderful benefit of a really powerful saw

Bucking anywhere from 30” to my largest 63” in diameter. This saw is awesome! More power is great to have in these large timbers. Each 16” slab weighs anywhere from 300-500 lbs easy and takes two guys to stand one slab up. I don’t know if there’s any easier way to cut these up once laid down on its side but I have to quaternary them to process them into firewood. Your skills impress me more and more each video! Legend! My friend! Cheers.

    Donnie Walker has an episode where he re-builds the chassis of a 372 saw (in which he explained he once had to rebuild no less than two hundred of those as part of a tool recall). There's a rubber O-ring that sits behind a sleeve on top of which the worm gear for the oil pump sits on the clutch and sprocket side of the case. And my 372 was probably one of the last un-used 'off the shelf' tools of that kind, that were still lying around available. Well Donnie explained how the O-ring designed to prevent some air from getting into the cylinder bottom end through the ball bearings was even omitted on some of the last few builds of that model, when they off-shored the assembly of them. And I reckon I ran into that myself with this new 372, that I managed to push a little bit over several months of time recently. All in all, there's a real place for this type of saw in anyone's line up. I'll definitely be looking to the 572 next, as I've found this winter my five series tools have all held up. Whilst I'm sourcing repair parts for everything else. On the bar length thing, oh heck, I had to get my 15-inch bar 550 XP out to finish something this afternoon (the 372 was sucking excess oxygen from somewhere and it began to race). And as much as I like those little 'weaker' 50cc tools for certain things in tree work, . . for purposes of 'tidy up' of lumber after laying down a quantity of timber, one needs something with a longer bar that doesn't weigh a tonne. And yeah, the numbers 562 did come into my mind as well. Much to think about, but I've found that an Oregon 24-inch Powercut and the 372 or 365 are a very good combination (it's not like I don't own a selection of different 24 inch bars at this stage, but something about the Powercut on a 70cc saw works for me). Strangely, on 85cc or over I don't like the light 24 inch bar as much (and on the bigger saws, if one goes lightweight on the bar, it's maybe no harm to go out to 28 or 32 inch). When I use a bigger saw at 24 inch bar length, I don't find those light Oregon bars suit as well. But down at 70cc tools, the 24 inch light Oregon bar to me works.

    • @academicmailbox7798
      @academicmailbox7798 Месяц назад

      One thing I will add about big 85 to 90cc tools and 24 inch bars. I used a .325 inch raker gauge and set my 3/8 inch semi- chisel chain to the softwood setting of a .325 inch gauge. So that's fine and well, soft Poplar logs etc. That's until one comes to some gravel, dirt in logs (strangely I learned a use for a cant hook, breaking bar tool as an improvised 'tree bark spade', . . . I must really set about making myself a proper 'bark spade' by taking an actual spade and re-shaping it for the purpose). One doesn't have some raker protection for those cutters, and suddenly you've a lot of re-file work to do. Counter to that, as long as I made use of my bark spade at all, I noticed for that wood with reduced raker setting, it extends one's fuel lifetime. To where one can rip up another 8 to 10 foot log on the same tank of fuel, half ways (one and a half logs per tank). And that's for 5 minutes worth of raker setting accuracy. No doubt though, consistent raker setting buys one more run time. It just means though, that implements such as bark spades do become necessary. But it's not a bad compromise. I'd rather have to do a little more bark cleaning, and save a chunk on fuel.

    • @academicmailbox7798
      @academicmailbox7798 Месяц назад

      There is a longer length of cant hook, breaking bar (I carry the shorter version with me, as I had decided that I wasn't ever going to get into timber large enough to require a full size cant hook tool). But I will say, if one doesn't want to bend down and still be able to clean bark, . . the longer breaker bar is the way to go.

    • @academicmailbox7798
      @academicmailbox7798 Месяц назад

      Can one use a smaller, short handled axe to clean bark off of lumber? Perhaps. Would I use a carpentry saw to hammer a nail with? I'll attempt to use Buck'in's own logic against him here. Stand up and use a long breaking bar, to deal with dirty timber bark. Is my best hunch. And then enjoy more benefits of one's effective, efficient chain raker customization.

      @@beartiger1553 My 372, a 2016 model was cycling up and downs in rev's on idle for months, . . it's just one of those tools I've never done work with. I just got it to get used to the 372 (even though it's a discontinued model, it's also an important reference point to compare to what 'generations' before have used). Then it did get to a point to which it was running so lean it would race away when started, . . and when saws are running at that acceleration, it doesn't take a genius to figure out, the tiniest piece of grit that founds it's way into the cylinder, combined with heat and friction generated, . . no matter what lubricant or mix one uses, this saw isn't going to survive air leakage. One logger I know just described crankcase leakage problems as ticking time bombs. What I guess 'threw me' off, was the fact the tool was immaculate and new (last component of old 372 stock that was left to buy anywhere). And all the more reason not to ruin it. The plastic or rubber air horn to the carb (and the carb gasket component), Iron Horse preaches always is another point of failure and leakage area in 372 saws used in logging. Realistically he explained, they're not tough enough for the bush. But because they were that good, loggers still used 372's. I've heard all of the same cruticism made of 500i's nowadays. Same thing.

    Yep, ill stay with original edition 372s. just as long as i can find parts to keep the museum pieces running, and not be shelf queens.

    Hi buckin I’ve been watching your videos for a good while now and I seen you have quite a few older saws I have a old homelite XL with a 20 inch bar watching your videos made me dig it out of the shed and get it running again.
    I was also wondering I see you cutting a lot of pine and some maple trees for firewood is there a real big difference from the hard wood oak trees well actually any hard wood trees we have here in Pennsylvania to the trees in your location?

    Sorry Billy. Im a Stihl man. I do love your videos. You and treeson. West Coast saw. Stihl has always been more reliable and a proven champ in wood. Not knocking a husky but, they only do good til they get some work in. Then they become temperamental. No use for a saw that gets air sensitive after noon.
