I was 17 and had never been to a gig like this before. What a day. Think it went from about 1 or 2 in the afternoon til gone 10. The manics were amazing and the Beautiful South as well. I hadn't liked The Stereophonics but after seeing them here, I thought they were brilliant as well!
They were the best by a distance. I remember so many people I knew who went who'd never seen The Manics live before who thought it wasn't live because of the way James Dean Bradfield jumped around the place whilst playing guitar... I told them it was live and he can do that because he's that damn good!!
I agree. I have to say I was little disappointed with my favourite band, The Seeds! They were meant to headline the HJC but were a little flat. As well as the Manics, another band that got a lot of new fans was the Stereophonics. Loved Smaller too, great 90's grunge band :) Good times... EDIT: just heard it to the end. 13:29 totally nailed it, what a performance!!
I’ve just stumbled across this video and it’s all pouring back. This was my first gig and I don’t think it’s been topped since. Love the manics. Fantastic.

Wow, so lucky! Would have loved to have seen the Beautiful South too! ❤
Bless you for saving this gem, my favourite version of motorcycle emptiness. Epic
Energy! I don’t think they get the recognition they deserve

Great band in a good cause
Was desperate to go to this, no way I'd have been able to go on my own.
Same mate, I was only 8 😢
I was there that day only 26 at the time
Beautiful show.
Thanks for uploading this, thanks to the manics for their continued support to the Justin campaign
I was there.... shame I wasn't filming back then
Love it.
The manics
A one off band
And amazing live
they did a cover of 'rain drops keep falling on my head'. Stereophonics played and no one knew they were.
I remember the stereophonics came on second after the bootleg Beatles and kelly said , how do you follow the beatles lol
The Raindrops cover was in the official concert live CD that was released, along with You Love Us
Up the Manics !! YNWA
Nailed it

Where is the second guitar?
Mate that’s grim, what’s wrong with you
James is like me, needs a quiff to disguise those naturally high temples.
