I missed ups and downs so much, especially after Kobajashi Maru and Time Amok. Thanks for doing this!
Those were probably my two favs as well.
one up you missed. Dal's crazy chaotic plan...almost passed the Kobayashi Maru. if he hadn't stopped to kick his feet up, he would have won.
Honestly, yeah. He actually almost beat the Kobayashi Maru. I love how in the end his own hubris was the only reason he failed at the last second. He has that potential for becoming one of the best captains in star fleet.
@@jhart6764and he didn't even need to cheat.
I loved in Kobayashi that Dal brushed aside Kirk stating he does not need two captains
Decker and Harriman screaming in the aether "WHY COULDN'T WE HAVE SAID THAT??"
@GSBarlev in Decker's case Kirk was an admiral and out ranked him. Harriman seemed inexperienced in having to solve problems with both hands tied behind his back.... seeing how man systems were not installed at the time.
I was sad when you guys stopped doing the weekly videos, I needed this. I have really enjoyed Prodigy, way more then I thought I would, and love to see the ups and downs!
Love your pfp ^^
@@duramirez Thanks.
Dal's solution to beating the Klingons in Kobiyashi, blasting Thunderstruck is very identical to the "Sabotage" scene from Star Trek Beyond.
Still waiting for "Beam me down to the Paradise City, where the girls are green, and the grass is pretty."
The little Caitian gets a big up.
Time Amok was pure gold. Rok-Tahk is an absolute legend after that.
In "kobayashi maru" Jenkin says he's lost count how many times Dal has failed, then adds "Just kidding, it's 42!". A nod to the Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy, perhaps?
I'm glad that you were able to find a compromise because there is a fan base for prodigy out there we may be small but we love the fact that you're able to give us what you can
I see numerous older fans championing this show because it is SO ACCESSIBLE
ABOUT FREAKING TIME. Every week I kept scrubbing your videos looking for this!
Prodigy is my first time watching Star Trek, and I am absolutely becoming a trekie
I loved the audio quality. It accentuated who was speaking, by emphasizing some well known dialogue from deceased actors. Sure now we could recreate these with AI, but these were good touchstones for these actors.
An interview with the Hageman’s confirmed that the stardate in A Moral Star puts it in 2384. I’m so glad to see this video! And you were not the only one hit in the feels by Rok in Time Amok. She’s *so* good!
Ups and Downs for Prodigy! Hooray!
I missed this so much.
AWESOME Ups & Downs! Totally agree with you on Prodigy. I have been VERY pleasantly surprised at how good it is so far. Can't wait for the 2nd half and can't wait for Discovery's return! Thank you so much for sharing!!
It’s so good to have this series back!
Also, what a fantastic time for Star Trek that Kate Mulgrew is back! Star Trek Prodigy with Holo and Vice Admiral Janeway and Star Trek Online with her as Mirror Universe Marshall Janeway and Admiral Janeway!
She got a Mirror counterpart? Niiiice!
it's such a fantastic series! super credits to the team behind the CGI - it's a great style, it looks gorgeous - it feels very canon in the way it frames the shots - can't wait to see more!
Got to give the Dal up another up with hindsight. He went from a cocky, self obsessed kid to someone willing to die for his crew, who when told he'd not get into starfleet swore he'd do everything he could to make sure his crew DID. He had such organic character growth and it was brilliant.
Very happy you gave us this in batch form for the last few episodes. I didn't think we'd be getting anything.
Glad to have these back
Honestly I'm blown away how good prodigy has been...Its like seeing trek from a completely new eyes.. Also time amok ...... Wow
I was pretty skeptical for the first couple episodes, I'll admit.
I'll also about, I'm now sold, I'm a Prodigy fan.
Yes the Magnificent Maroon is the best Uniform :D
Yes! Ups and Down Prodigy!!
Yay! Glad to see you back with this!
Janeway will give the kids a promotion, but Harry Kim will never get one...
Harry is captaining are starship somewhere but still officially an ensign at least that's my headcanon
Dude the most recent episode had a log with stardate 61103.1clearly stated, so it is set in 2384.
Episode 8 has a log with stardate 607125.6 which has too many digits so who knows
The flashback is set on Stardate 43929.7. This is a day before Menage à Troi which was 43930.7...aka TNG season 3 as 17 years ago. Quick math from 2367 plus 17 is 2384
I loved the protostar warp drive
Thanks for sharing this great episode Seán! We missed you! I'm looking forward to future Prodigy episodes as Admiral Janeway ended "A Moral Star" Part 2 saying she was coming for Chakotay.
i enjoy the ups and downs so much. and this channel... im shocked that you guys dont have more people
I said it on the chat and will say it again Holo Janeway needs a down for her reaction to finding out the kids took the ship. She is portrayed as seeming to know the kids are not Starfleet but then is shocked when she found out the kids "stole" the Protostar. Also Good Job Sean
When Holo Janeway in "Time Amok" snaps her fingers to shut off Dal's video game... to me, that's such a "Mom Move" that I believe all mothers out there wish they had! 😂
I've really missed these videos. Always have looked forward to them. In fact I usually get and look for them right after watching the episode.
I do the same thing! Well... Right after Setting a Course, anyway.
You forgot John Noble as a poor father to Sherlock Holmes in Elementary.
I was so happy to see Robert Beltran return to Trek. 🖖😀
AHHHHH you're back... My kids loves you.
Missed the ups and downs so glad your back.
So glad you’re back
They made reference to the Klingon proverb about revenge being a dish best served cold.
Omg thank you thank you Sean and trekculture crew for more ups and downs for prodigy!
AAAAH! I'm so glad to see you doing this! I hadn't thought you'd do a bumper one. Thank you, I love this format and I'm glad to see this.
If you like John Noble, I recommend watching Elementary, where he plays a so-so father.
He plays a bad son in Sleepy Hollow.
About the uniforms... I don't think it was a Special Ops uniform, but rather a Cadet's uniform (no color to denote a specialization).
Agreed. I feel like there was some cadet outfit that we’ve seen before that did this as well but I don’t recall where
The producers said it’s like the racing uniform seen in voyager
yassssssssss prodigy needs coverage, even just a summary :)
Ahhh I was missing these after every new Trek episode. Glad you did this!
If this is how we get ups and downs for prodigy I won't complain
Gives me time to catch up with it.
Thank you for bringing this back!
The sound design on this show has given me chills no less than 3 times so far. Excellent work.
You were missed sir!
I wish I could subscribe again and again and again! Love TrekCulture! LLAP
Ngl, I didn't even notice 5 more episodes had dropped until I saw this video pop up, I thought perhaps it was like a rethink or som watched a little and it dawned on me that I hadn't seen what you were talking about, went back and checked and boom all 5 were there.... Idk why I thought half a season was only going to be 5 but hey, just finished binge watching them all just to be able to watch this after hahahaha
For the record I missed the episode reviews =)
Ur back!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I noticed in "Time Amok" (one of my favorites of Season 1)... when Dal's time period fracture is about to explode, Hologram Janeway goes over and kneels in front of him, taking his hand... just as Captain Janeway kneeled in front of Seven of Nine on the Delta Flyer in "Voyager Conspiracy" and taking her hand just before they beamed out.
They did give an actual star date in one episode. That sets the time frame.
Thanks so much for staying with this!
I'm out here commenting for algorithmic purposes. Bless you, TrekCulture
Love that you guys made this. I missed having Up's and Down's for each episode!
yay! i knew you did ups and downs for this! im glad you are back on prodigy!
Love these ups and downs and hope the keep coming.
I loved the Kobayashi episode!
I am SOOOOOOO excited! You just made my night - thank you so much for resuming Prodigy ups & downs - I'm loving the show and love you guys : )
But we did get a stardate in Moral Star II, Sean!
Please keep doing videos for Prodigy. It's such a great Trek show. I will click, like, and share whatever you want to make it happen.
Yay! Please bring back Prodigy full time next time 😊
Possible that the Diviner needed to activate the weapon for it to work against the Federation? If he just let the kids take it there, maybe the weapon would be discovered before it reached Starfleet. Also, the credits put Janeway as a Vice-Admiral. I believe she was only a Rear Admiral in Nemesis, so yes, post-Picard might work.
Stardates matter. This is set Stardate 6xxxxx therefore setting it a couple years after LDS is currently set
What a fun headspace for an actor to be in: translate your character to being animated? Check. Translate your character to being an animated hologram? Ummm..check. And NOW translate your character to being from the future? ....Workin' on it! Repeat---what fun!
Janeway isn’t from the future
@@eoghanlacey6384 So youve met her, I assume?
I thought that the audio quality was pretty on point, everytime I hear something from classic Spock it is ALWAYS old sounding. I not only like it, but the nostalgia is so big!
I was a bit surprised though that they didn’t make his character “glitchy” to compensate for that & then it “cleared up” for the line stolen from the JJ film
THANK YOU FOR THIS, SEAN!!!! :)
DUDE!!! THANK YOU Sean. I asked you to bring this back at the last live stream and you delivered. You did. You did. 10 free raktajino on me. Redeemable only at a Quarks near you. No refunds.
Dal screaming "Fire everything!" on the Enterprise D bridge, exactly like how the bad guy from the JJ Abrams Star Trek film did!
And I think the mention of the real life Apollo 13 deserves a mention too.
I would say that Lower Decks, and Generations before it, has now pretty much established that there isn't necessarily consistency in the uniforms across the whole fleet.
Also, I suspect the Admiral Janeway scene is 17 years previous, and she's tracking the Protostar shortly after it was captured, and that is a misdirect (which would also mean at least Chakotay isn't still marooned in the Delta Quadrant).
based on what ive read it would seem that its based about five years after Voyager and a year and a half after lower decks but im not entirely sure
TOS and TNG didn't have consistency between uniforms either.
DS9 showed us that there was no consistency with uniforms either. Picard and Sisko were together in a room with different uniforms.
You're reviews are awesome! Keep up the great work!
Also the deviner states the way to destroy the federation is ….“ by arming a weapon already on the Protostar” ….makes me think the weapon is not automatic and would need to be activated somehow.
Or that he planted it when he reached it and it was not on the protostar when our crew first boarded it.
I kept looking for this and here you are.
Prodigy is shaping up to be a nice series
For the date issue, just look at the stardate given in A Moral Star. 604xx. Since TNG started, the stardates increase by 1000 per year in-universe. Given that TNG started with 41xxx in 2364, that would put Prodigy season 1 in 2383, slightly after Lower Decks.
I’m really glad that you did this. I was sad that we wouldn’t get a cetacean ops on Kobyashi Maru. Thanks for revisiting it.
You could likely do another 20 minute video just on the citation observations that you missed. Glad to see the ups and downs back for Prodigy even if it was condensed.
On point this week.
What about the fact Dal Beat the kobeashi Maru without cheating like Kirk did?
It's not cheating if you, change the rules and they give you a commendation for creative thinking.
@@TrevorJNagy "In academic vernacular you cheated" 😉
Bugger just came for Kobyashi. I'll come back once I've watched the rest. Go on yer self big man
And Sean, keep up the Irishisms! Loving it! Love it that feckers is now canon in Trek
Like ups and downs, love cetacean observations 🖖
I got your back Ferrick! Keep up the great content.
Well he didn't know if they'd go to the Federation. But his plan was still nuts. So convinced they wouldn't listen or that they did it on purpose, or so driven by revenge, he concocts some convoluted plan to try and take down the entire Federation rather than just earn them not to make contact with his people. I agree that he was kind of a letdown overall.
I get why you and many love the clips and such. To me, I'd rather just have new lines from living people rather than obvious clips from those that have passed. The audio is a little distracting tbh. But to each their own. And I imagine this was cheaper.
The short term memory loss was kind of a copout, but it was a great effect on Zero showing that he accidentally hurt a friend.
You're Bleed'in Awesome Toooo!
I saw the Duty Uniforms as the Cadet Uniforms, as we've not seen them yet.
Iv not watched this, probably won’t either but Iv always like ur Trek coverage. I enjoyed the video and will always send out a like! 🖖🏼
I love prodigy. It so colourful and the writers are so creative.
Are we sure that Caitian doesn't have some Kzinti in her? Lol
I’m loving this show!! I know the characters are more focused towards Children, but there’s enough stuff aimed towards us adults, too! Brilliant!
You're back on it! Fine! Financial restrictions are understood.
Ok...since you asked so nicely. Subscribed.
Just binge watching the new episode before watching this video. I didn't realize there were new episodes. There is a checky line from Star Trek 2009.
More than ever before.
I hope we see other animated cameos from Voyager, DS9 or Next Generation.
Im so happy that this is here. I was very bummed when it wasnt coming out weekly. I thought it was gone. I can live with non weekly.
Glad you guys are back. It got to be a down when your Villian would have won by doing nothing.
I can't believe I haven't heard of this show. I know it's on Nickelodeon but the little bit of the first episode I saw looked really interesting.
