I got my PhD in India however it was very hard to find a research based job. I did 2 jobs after my PhD, 1st for a US based organisation run by an Indian, 1st meeting happened at 10 am, second at 8 pm and 3rd at 1:30 am again, this never happened with those working in US. I had to leave the job because of the poor working hours. For the 2nd job the 1st meeting happened at sharp 9 am, and the work continued till 9:30 pm at least every day and even after Saturday being a holiday on the offer letter, almost worked every Saturday till I was there. Finally decided to resign as it was too much for me especially when having worked almost 12-14 hrs everyday for the last two years of my PhD. Now I'm in US , rarely anyone works past 6 pm here besides the work environment is stress-free. No wonder people leave India, money is just an added benefit. Maybe if you are working for someone else India is a bad option, if working for yourself India can be better because the labour is cheap 😅, and on top they now want you to work even on Sundays.

You are absolutely right. And Indians' behaviour is getting worse. I am from Goa and the situation there is horrible. Goa's environment is destroyed, dirt everywhere, no sense of civics, rude and uncouth behaviour from males, no manners, inappropriate developments, coal, drunkenness, intolerance to Goans' way of life and religion and food, folk from elsewhere in India who have moved to Goa dictating to Goans how to live and who to worship and how to dress, etc etc. No respect for another. For a country which claims to be conservative and clean, the sex trade in Goa is abhorrent and even children have to endure this degrading treatment. When you say no sense of acceptable social behaviour, you are spot on.

I met an illegal immigrant at the airport last year here in the US, and was shocked to hear the kind of struggles she went through to get here. She was from a village near Ahmedabad and she said there was no prospect of a better life and she was willing to risk her life for at least that hope. So it's not just the educated class frustrated by the toxic work culture but the labor class as well. If the person is caught, things might get really bad and might have to spend time in prison. India's rapid growth is often overstated-look deeper, and migration trends tell a different story. Comparing India to developed nations is unrealistic; innovation remains minimal, and the 'jugaad' mindset persists. Can you name one globally used product made in India? Even TikTok, created by China, showcases their innovation and global reach. India lacks the environment and mindset for groundbreaking innovation, which raises concerns about its ability to compete globally. This isn't criticism but an attempt to understand why India risks falling behind.

India is great for those who have money and fame. It is not that great if you live an average life and hoping to ascend the social status. An average life in developed countries is also not the greatest, there are a lot of problems there too and things can become frustrating especially healthcare which is better in India but comparatively , the quality of life is much better outside India atleast for now for the average people. Another problem is those who have money and status in India want to exploit those who don't and who are below them. When you work outside, your manager is also an employee and you speak with him/her as your colleague on a first name basis, you do not act subservient to them and call them Sir/Madam, that is a colonial mindset and very disrespectful but not in India which is a problem.

The question is pointless as is Rajnath Singh’s remark. Those who decide to go abroad do so after finding that it did not work out in India or that getting education and experience abroad will improve their future prospects in India. The question is irrelevant for them. Their decision is (or was) based on their own experience. The Minister remarks make no difference in that decision. People will continue to go out until existing job, education, or career advancement opportunities in India fall short of their desires and expectation. Anyone else’s opinions, including the minister’s, are irrelevant.

    1. Can he ask people like Jaishankar to call back their children?
    2. Can he guarantee education accessibility and employment or are we gonna have lacs of candidates caught in stampede while struggling for only a 1000 odd opportunities?
    3. Can he guarantee state of art infrastructure for educational institutes and more govt colleges with equal infra so students have accessibility?
    4. Can he give us freedom of expression so professors and students aren’t suspended cz they perform research and find out how the economy is failing?
    5. Can he guarantee there is minimal wealth disparity so 50% of population still doesn’t feel poor?
    6. Can he guarantee a fair system irrespective of our income?
    7. Is he willing to invest more in education than in religious structures? Cz apparently there is so much space for temples but very little for schools and colleges.
    8. Can he reduce tax burden on the middle class?
    9. Can people protest to voice their discontent and to ask for their rights?
    10. Can he stop enforcing his party beliefs on the people and let them live as per their will?
We go abroad cz they are providing us all these and more opportunities that we have been demanding in our country. Indian or not our opportunities broaden, our minds broaden, we get newer perspective. Even an authoritarian country like China has a better education system even if rigorous.

I have lived in the UK for the last 3 years. The cost of living is so exorbitantly high and also the salary growth is not amazing. It also depends on at which stage of your life you are moving abroad. When you are young, if you venture out, it makes a lot of sense but when you are a bit matured and unless you get a significant growth in salary, it is not viable. Having said that, the work life balance is so wonderful abroad. Once you are out of office, you don’t really need to worry about getting a call from your boss 😅

The Truth is no IITian do their Masters Degree and PhD in our country, no Talented Scientist do their PhD in India, it is because our Higher Education System for Science and Technology is very poor compared to USA, Europe, China, Japan,....
Our Talented Labour Force ultimately being continually migrated to USA and Europe because what they deserve, they almost get in those countries but if they stay in our country, they will get almost nothing.
I remember once our Government told that they r extending special facilities to Corporates like reduction of Corporate Tax, Tax concession on SEZ, special tax concession on some products to encourage Businesses, if Government don't extend those facilities to our Tycoons, they will be shifted to Europe, Middle East for doing Business.
It is assumption of Government for extending facilities to Business Class though we don't know really they will be shifted or not if special privilege is not extended to them.
Our Government never got time or scope of thinking whether our Talented Labour Force would stay in our country if special privilege was extended to them or not.

@fayedsouza as an entrepreneur and a tech startup i can surely say that the govt has lost the priority of research education and SME focus. Jobs are created by thousands of startups for lakhs of students. India instead of investing on technology has wasted on road builing and burdening people with tolls. This govt has failed in strenthening governance but shifted to cronies who have spoiled the full generations.

If the govt make study about the subject thoroughly, it may help the job seekers , job generators and the govt itself. It is unknown whether govt is having category-wise unemployed population. The remarks of many below this video itself give a fair idea of the situation. Merely making statement that nobody needs to go abroad will not serve any purpose.

Lots of comments saying abroad is better, cleaner, etc. Yes, but the gravy train is not going to last forever. Anti-immigration sentiment and white-nationalist political parties are rising everywhere in the West. Violence may increase against Indians in Western countries, and many may be deported. Then what?
AAP and the book The Delhi Model by Jasmine Shah addresses most of the governance/infrastructure concerns Faye brings up, but nobody talks about it.

We r proud of our Space Research Organisation ISRO but truth is there is not much Highly Innovative Scientist in ISRO, I don't know how many IITean r a working in ISRO but truth is ISRO is much behind than NASA and CNSA though a very good number Talented Scientist r working in NASA.
Our Chandrayan 3 is a prestigious performance ISRO, it is a great achievement but darkar side is it could not even withstand one Lunar Night whereas YUTU 2 Rover of CNSA is operating on Moon Surface till date since 2019,
Curiosity Rover of NASA is operating on Mars Surface since 2012. We achieved but running far behind them.
If we get answers of Why?, then only solutions available.

    1 . Tax system , it sucks
    2. Poverty is not an excuse for hygeine
    3. If i say something bad about india which is actually bad then i am anti national and what not . Like cmon out tier 1 cities have the largest slum in the country perhaps the continent . You can smell the hygeine as u move through these roads
    4. 'Mother ganga " stinks a lot , why treat it ljke god when u cant maintain it that way
5 . Minimal civic sense and ignorant on issues
    6. Religious riots and some backward 1800s oriented people in this country begging for hindu rashtra
    7. The arrogance the people of this country have stating we are vishwaguru while on the other hand the worlds 5th largest economy has the 80cr people on free ration and some women who live their life on 1500 per month provided in the name of welfare
    8. Scam call centres and other tourist realted scammers
    9. Toxic work culture and inefficent techies
    10. For how long this country will be dependent on it industry dont we have anything else to offer
    11. Shit public services , the bus trains and even airports are not well maintained except tjose in tier 1 cities , seeing all the red marks there irritates me.
