Does it have a typical classical neck, or is it more like an acoustic guitar just strung with nylon strings? I don't think I've seen anything like that before, but it makes sense
@@rubievale It is essentially a crossover instrument, i.e. a nylon guitar for non-classical players. The neck is a bit wider than most steel string acoustics, but still not nearly as wide as a traditional classical guitar.
Because of you i got my first actual acoustic from orangewood and the first thing i played on it was ‘when i meet you’. I didn’t know about orangewood before you so thank you! It sounds amazing ive had it for about a year and a half and ive never had any problems with it.
3:54. Actually the top 3 strings are not the same as a steel guitar top 3. In reality, they are nylon as well, but there's a "thread" of steel arround the nylon string.
Nylon string guitars usually join the body at the 12th and not the 14th fret, but this one looks good as it is. Oh, and even the bottom strings have a nylon core, even if metal wounded. Using regular metal strings will add too much tension and warp, if not destroy, the neck.
For me, I really enjoy learning bossa nova. Bossa nova sounds okay on an electric, but it just doesn't quite sound right unless its played on a nylon string guitar, tbh.
Twooba makes Nylon romantical . Too bad the strings aren't made of flowers, Nylon sounds so man-made. A rose string takes romantic guitar to the next level.
@twooba I think (traditionally) you play this by putting it into an open tuning, and then putting one finger on the highest or lowest string and sliding it up or down to the different frets for different notes. I.E. no chord shapes
Often, top 3 "nylon" strings are synthetic thread (used to be silk thread) wrapped with steel (80/20 or something). So they aren't same as steels, they are softer, don't require much tension compared to steels, complementing those unwound nylons. A too thick nylon string isn't very pleasant to handle compared to wound and sounds too dull, if you've tried low-G unwound uke string, you know what I'm talking about. This isn't a classical or romantic guitar (well, obvious), because it has same X bracing as acoustics have, and the bridge type, fingerboard inlays and the overall shape of course. The nut is quite wide but not as wide as on most classical guitars (48 mm vs 52). Still wider than typical "acoustic" (42 mm). Fingerboard crosses the body at 14th fret, not at 12th like in classical guitars, so it's easier to access higher frets on this guitar when comparing to classical. So, with all solid woods this is an interesting and unique option indeed. And very beautiful too. Not a budget one definitely but not very expensive either. For nylons, solid wood (at least the top) is a MUST especially when you have those gentle nylon strings. I hope the bracing isn't too strong here and let's the top vibrate more or maybe the top is thinner. As for swapping the strings, you can SAFELY put nylon strings onto any steel-string guitar. Nothing bad will happen. It might sound weaker or maybe just different because of the stronger bracing. And you cannot put steel strings onto a nylon string guitar because the tension of steel strings is much higher than a guitar built for nylons "expects". So with this guitar it is not clear whether it would handle steel strings or not. But anyway that's not the point of this guitar. More about nylon strings on acoustic steel-string guitars: I did it before and it works just perfectly you only need to file the nut slots wider to get proper action because that G string for example is so thick when in nylon and you will have to work on the bridge saddle to fix the intonation. In other words steel to nylon is a possible but not easily reversible conversion (you will need a new nut and saddle to go back to steels). You don't even need to buy those ball-ended nylon strings to do the conversion, just use knots or maybe some random beads. But if you don't want to mess around, don't care about classical guitars and just want nylon strings on your typical acoustic guitar, something like this reviewed guitar is a great choice.
New strings on the nylons can suck. Especially if you're buying tie end. And they take a day or two for the strings to settle down and start holding tension better. An easy way I jumpstart this is by slightly over-tightening the strings, and pick the strings with your thumbnail really fast up and down the whole length of the strings, with your left fingers fretting and pulling on the string well and you strum hard. This will almost instantly set you nylons and won't go out of tune. Repeat this process with string over-tightened and then under regular tightness to help break in strings
I can't believe that is your first time playing a naylon guitar. In Argentina is us first instrument. Acoustic guitar is more strange. Nylon guitars can sound with a lot of volume. The Spanish people make it sound with a full volume. I recommend you an argentinian guitarrist named Luis Salinas. Nice song was you latest.
Funny enough first time i saw u i thought youre annoying but you grew on me love your personality . and u can shred ."DAMN THIS SHIT IS WIDE AS FUCK" 😏
Orangewood buys those tuners, sorry didn't mean to destroy the myth. Cedar is pronounced [see-dur] not like a word rhyming with reta . . . well you get the point. Everyone who took classical guitar in college or some other place, has to buy a nylon string guitar. Nice song snippet and great guitar faces.
Every word you utter is pure poetry, I must say.

Twooba's voice went in to another dimension in that intro
Don't let anybody tell you to tune your guitar.

I will call my daughter twooba if this nylon guitar thing works with the ladies❤

Dang really hit us with the Tifa's theme at the end.

Just FYI, temperature will alter the tuning on a guitar as well. Typically cold you'll run sharp and warm run flat
Love the warpaint rep
