That match was a perfect story of hesitation to take the kill shot on Michael's hero. That last moment, with Flair staring up at the lights after the kick, visibly weeping is one of the most heart wrenching scenes I've seen as a wrestling fan
Kane sharing a story about a sick kid, in a children's hospital, he took a picture with the kid. Later in his life he went to a concert in Noxville, a lady ran up to him and showed him the picture of him and her child, then she told him that it was the last picture she had taken with her child, seeing Kane cry telling that story and hearing the story itself is soulcrushing.
Bunnymon - Edge was forced to retire due to serious neck injuries. He was gone for 8 years, IIRC before becoming cleared to be able to wrestle again. Also, yes, Jerry Lawler actually DID have a heart attack live on Monday Night Raw. My wife and I were watching that night, and we were both shocked. Kudos to Michael Cole for not only keeping his composure and continuing the show, but also for keeping the home audience updated on Lawler's condition. Fortunately, he survived, and even continued wrestling. The 9/13/2001 episode of Smackdown was held for multiple reasons. First, to show the terrorists that they might give the US a "bloody nose", but they weren't going to make us cower in fear and stay home. But also, because the public really needed something uplifting in the wake of that attack. The show was dedicated to all those who lost their lives that day, as well as to those who did their best to help save lives that morning.
Wasn't Edge gone for 9 years tho cuz I highly remember Michael Cole at the Royal Rumble match in 2020 say "it's been 9 long years" and he retired in 2011

Man, I remember seeing the Eddie Guerrero tribute show when it first aired live. Emotional stuff, for sure. Part of me still feels that his passing had a long-term effect on Chris Benoit, who himself died just two years later.... under some truly insane, yet tragic, circumstances. So insane, in fact, that WWE immediately distanced itself from him once more details surrounding his death came to light. While we still don't have the full picture of what drove him to end his life the way he did, I personally think that depression may have been a huge contributing factor.....
I grew up watching Eddie Guerrero before he even got to WWE. His memorial tribute was the only one I cried on. That one just hit different. RIP Eddie. Viva La Raza!

In the early 2000s, _WWF SmackDown!_ was usually pre-taped on Tuesdays, to air on Thursday of the same week. 9/11 was a Tuesday, and instead of scratching the taping of the show, it was decided to proceed, and so on September 13, 2001, 22 years ago today, _WWF SmackDown!_ aired in its usual 8PM Eastern Thursday timeslot on UPN. It was the first American public mass gathering post-9/11.
Eddie and Chris didn't die in the ring. Lawler is still alive. There has been other wrestlers that died in the ring. They didn't work for WWE. They worked for the indies. Not to diminish other lives being lost. It always hits harder when it's a innocent child like Connor.
I'm pretty sure this video was made before it happened, but Roman Reigns announcing that he's been living with Leukemia and that it was back was one of the saddest and most jarring things to happen on WWE television. Roman at the time was pretty unpopular due to his booking and presentation and every time he entered the ring he was showered with boos (and he was a good guy, or "baby face"). He comes down to the ring, fairly newly won Universal Title in hand, greeted with a tsunami of boos, and then he drops the news and you can legitimately feel the collective hearts drop of the fans in the crowd. In one of the better moments in WWE crowd history, they completely drop their grudge with Roman and shower him with chants of support. The moment of sadness really hit a fever pitch when he was met at the top of the stage by Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose, two of his best friends and former stablemates, who then proceeded to embrace him. It's hard to watch because Seth is bawling his eyes. And in an another emotional moment, on the opposite end, was Roman coming back to announce that his Leukemia was in remission.

A WWE moment that pulled at my heartstrings was the Frebruary 19, 2001edition of Raw. The day before, Nascar legend Dale Earnhardt Sr. was killed on the final lap of the Daytona 500 in one of the biggest tragedies in American sports history. That Monday night, the stadium was full of people holding up signs with the number three in honor of Dale
About Owen Hart passing at Over the Edge PPV. He was wrestling under his "Blue Blazer" alter ego and he was about to do his "superhero" entrance but the harness gave up WAY TOO EARLY. Jimmy Korderas was about to be the referee in the match Owen was scheduled to wrestle and he was... just under Owen when he was about to fall. Owen somehow managed to scream at Jimmy right before they would collide. Korderas BARELY escaped the collision with Owen. And Owen Hart passing is the reason why the Hart family is not on the good terms with WWE anymore. The harness that was used that night was... how to put... not supposed to be used at all. Even stuntmen were saying that it would be a bad idea to use it before the show. But WWE went with it... It gave up almost immediately after Owen started to descent. Owen was suppose to not move a muscle, only then there was a chance that harness would not give up. Even the slightest move was enough. Owen was just 33 years old... and he was already thinking about retirement to be a family man (he had a family, son Oje and daughter Athena with his wife Martha (who sued WWE for what happened) who now works for AEW that helds Owen Hart Cup (also known as Owen Hart Foundation Tournament)) PS. The show continued. The show went as planned. That's the other reason why Hart Family is not on the good terms with WWE. That was named the worst promotional tactic of 1999 for a reason.
With Conar the Crushing it was a child dieing of Cancer he Cancer most of his young life. He was a huge WWE fan. WWE made special he pinned Triple H special moment before he died.
Edge had a career ending injury to his neck and required major surgery to fix but it left him without a choice but to retire. He did return for a couple of one off matches for the royal rumble and wrestlemania for a title but not a sustained run. His body is not what it used to be and any injury is not good for him. Basically he’s done. He however switched to doing stunts for tv shows and movies which he is better at as he doesn’t take as much punishment like he used to.

I'll say this till the end of days: On the day that Eddie died, Chris lost the one friend who helped him through his life's darkest moments. After that night, the Benoit we knew/saw before was gone...
Connor the Crusher died of cancer after that in 2014 when I was 5

That was an accident. I agree wrestlers push themselves to the limit. But it’s protected by professionals and their superior skills. I love wrestling and storytelling and as a grown man, I was crying halfway
