Great video, I can’t wait to fish here. Thank you for teaching me I can catch halibut from the shore. You mentioned timing. It seems like the high tide was important. I have so much to learn about this fishery.
Years ago my mother and grandmother worked in a small shop in Seward in the summer. They used to bring halibut with them when they came down here in the winter. You make my mouth water, and good memories flow at the same time! Thanks for the look into your lives.
Belated Happy Mother's Day Heather. A relief after watching your vlog. You're blessed to live in a country where fish is fresh from the ocean. Have a wonderful time..
I watched a bunch of your videos and It would be nice if you would say where you’re at fishing so people would know, I’ll be able to join the family time also in those areas
If you wouldn't mind telling me where about this is? Homer? Kenai? I was thinking about heading down to Kasilof and fishing near the mouth of the river, I've heard the halibut are there after the salmon run...... Had I listened until the end prior to my question, I would have got my answer... Thanks
A very nice beach for relaxation. Desert. Watched this video with pleasure. This summer we will be in Alaska and will be staying in Kenai, fishing for Sockeye in the river just one step from cabin. The second half of the time we stay in apartments, so we need to plan our time. If possible, let us know this place so that we can visit this shore. There is a lot of space here, and it is obvious that there is a driveway there by car.
I saw the largest halibut ever weighed at the Sitka Sound Seafoods near Yakutat, Alaska in Dry Bay where I worked for a summer. That was in 1991 so they may have gotten bigger and I think the company got bought out. I was riding a four wheeler along the beach and saw a dead one washed up on the shore that had to be five feet from head to the top of the tail too. First video I've seen of people catching them from shore though. Were you guys fishing a big dropoff or do they just come in shallow like that?
the yellowfin sole : that you called flounder that you were releasing are actually very very good. just like halibut just not as firm. i eat them all the time! i catch those fellas here in valdez alaska and they are good eats. no limit on them either and there are other species you can come across like rock sole, sanddab, and other soles that are just as good!!! try themmmm
The “flounder” we were catching on the spit may be rock sole… I have caught many yellowfin sole commercial fishing in Cook Inlet and they were definitely different than those.
I’ll never tell😁 actually it’s to protect the access areas because not all of them are public, not the spots. I don’t want to make community members mad.
Omg I went out there too last weekend I think we r headed back again!!! We loved it I caught my first since moving here! Love your channel! Let me know if u guys wanna go with us or let us follow! I need to learn so mich

Both kenai and kasilof beaches are good, clam gulch and whiskey gulch are good too. All are similar

Can you explain what gear and tackle and bait you were using?
