    I would have thought blood imp would be the ideal card to play with anima golem.

    • @fangtimes0
      @fangtimes0 9 лет назад +41

      Literally any aoe kills blood imp which is already a horrible card to begin with so at that point you are wasting space.

    • @Kowzorz
      @Kowzorz 9 лет назад +75

      fangtimes I can't count the number of times that 1 health placed on another minion on the turn it's played turns the tide of a game. No aoe? Free heals. Don't play it if you suspect an aoe.

    • @Roleplayer40K
      @Roleplayer40K 9 лет назад +31

      I drafted this and a blood imp in Arena and it went 9 wins. Blood Imp is really good in Arena in general tho.

    • @Voidward
      @Voidward 9 лет назад +9

      fangtimes Yes, but if you happen to have a large minion, along with a blood imp when you drop anima golem then your opponent will need AOE and removal on the same turn to deal with it.
      A lot of ladder decks are also predictable enough that you should know if and when they'll have AOE and play around that.

      honestly it's alright in constrcuted (if you are just out for fun not for wins)
      everything stealth is good anyway but right now I substituted him for a gilblin stalker because that guy at least survives a normal consecrate

  • @only20frickinletters
    @only20frickinletters 9 лет назад +15

    Yeah, I've tried it, too. It only wins the game if you were going to win anyway, and otherwise it's a dead card.
    I would love to see a Wailing Soul deck with Chow, Ancient Watcher, Ogre Brute, Fel Reaver, The Beast, and this, but I don't have the dust or the money to test it out.

    • @lkjkhfggd
      @lkjkhfggd 9 лет назад

      I've tried a variant of it in Paladin (so no anima golem), and it was clunky and difficult to play. Basically, you have too many cards you want to have silenced, and only two Wailing Souls (and two Spellbreakers). I'll have a board of Ancient Watcher, Dancing Swords, and a Deathlord just begging to get silenced but I never draw the silence to do it.

    • @fishwithoutwings
      @fishwithoutwings 9 лет назад

      You just described something very similar to the first deck I tried when I got Anima Golem. I only tried it in casual mode. Sometimes it was amazing, other times, not so much. It's fun though. Have to find some use for The Beast, can't quite bring myself to disenchant it.

      I once played Fel Reaver and Faceless'd it at 10 mana with 15 cards in the deck remaining. My hand had two mind controls. I didn't have my silence spell so it was just a yolo play. And it paid off, because even though 14 cards were discarded, two Reavers and the sea giant I then MC'd made short work of the opponent.

    i think there are lot of ways to use anima golem, and make it worth.
    1. Blood imp + golem ( Good if u know that ur opponent has alrdy used one AoE so probly he is unable to destroy imp )
    2. Anima golem + silence
    3. Anima golem + shadowflame ( i know turn 10 combo, but clears nearly everythin that opponent could have on board )
    4. Golem + any card with deathrattle ( it is not safest option but still in certain situation could carry game )

    • @Bluem95
      @Bluem95 9 лет назад +1

      Can't do that if the implosion fills your board so you cant make room for doomguard. Essentially you would need to roll low on the implosion and only get 2 imps for this to work.

    I've made a warlock deck including this one. It wasn't a very competitive one, but it still won me some games and it was extremely fun to play.
    It included anima golems, but also zombie chow, silent watchers, ogre brutes, and fell reavers, all sort of creatures you'd want to silences as well as owls, spellbreakers and wailing souls to do the silencing. I also added some creatures with stealth, to be able to put the golems on turn 6 without the risk to lose my board, namely shade of naxxramas and stranglethorn tiger. Why these two? Because 1) they have decent stats by themselves 2) they resist flamestrike on turn 7. Finally I also put in a couple of defenders of argus because having two anima golems 10/10 with taunt is basically a win condition, Ragnaros and Kel'Thuzad who are the best things to play when your opponent just used his hard removals on your golems, two shadowflames who benefit greatly from your high-power/low-cost minions (fell reaver+shadowflame=8damage in AoE for 9 mana, that's basically a Twisted neither that doesn't affect your board), Soul drain for conrtol decks and hellfire for aggro ones and you have your deck. I'd also put Jaraxxus instead of KT but I didn't buy it yet.
    It's a really fun deck which can be strong both in early and late game but requires to draw the good cards from the start, otherwise, you're screwed. Still, if you opened two of those I would advise you to try it. Strangely it works best against handlock, with the many silences it shuts down the twilight drakes and then is able to put beasts as strong or even stronger than your opponent whom incredulous face is a bliss to imagine.

  • @Slider2k
    @Slider2k 9 лет назад +1

    Granted it's not an arena card, it could work in constructed mech/deathrattle zoo decks - flooding the board wild annoying sticky creatures and topping it off with a heavy hitter on turn 6.

  • @Lifeless9619
    @Lifeless9619 9 лет назад

    Anima golem was likely designed to be placed in the post-naxx meta zoo lock. Where there were alot of obnoxious sticky death rattle cards. Anima golem functions in that situation by forcing the opponent to make an attempt to remove irritating targets like harvest golem, nerubian egg, and skittering spider thing. The card might have actually seen play if Dr.Boom wasnt so close by in mana cost and simply more reliable.

  • @anonyanonymous1900

    I have one anima golem in my warlock deck. I use it either after a Mal'Ganis + demom-filled board or use it as a massive shadowflame board-clear. I've had decent luck with it, but I see why it's not too commonly used.

    Anima golem sounds good with stuff like blood imp or just any stealth creature overall, but with most decks running some sort of aoe it can be pretty easy to isolate it. Plus it can just get BGH'd/aldored or something like that.

    • @lkjkhfggd
      @lkjkhfggd 9 лет назад

      Seems quite bad dude. It's another completely dead card in your hand if you have one of those games where your board gets wiped out. You literally can't play it when that happens. It's the same reason I tend to not run Defender of Argus and Enhance-o-mechano in my zoo decks.

    • @sdfr45678
      @sdfr45678 9 лет назад +10

      lkjkhfggd If you're not running defender in a zoolock deck, something is wrong.

    • @lkjkhfggd
      @lkjkhfggd 9 лет назад +1

      sdfr45678
      Why? Defender is not required in all Zoo decks. The card is nice, but I find I am usually the offensive player, so the taunt is useless, and like I said earlier, if my early turn minions were successfully all cleared out, I have a 4 mana 2/3 in hand, and won't be able to cast it forever.

    • @MCTutorialmaker
      @MCTutorialmaker 9 лет назад +1

      you dont only run cards that are good on their own, you also need cards to support your "small" board and make it more difficult for your opponent to wipe/kill your minions. This is why you run argus and Anima Golem in Zoo

    • @lkjkhfggd
      @lkjkhfggd 9 лет назад

      Yep, but there's other choices I can make that can take Defender's place, like Imp-losion and Dark Iron Dwarf, and I prefer those cards. Those cards are also good even if I don't have a board, so they are preferable by me.

    It's really just a win more card. You have total board control, then slap that 9/9 down, and if they can't deal with your board you just seal the deal. But if they do deal with the board, you lose more. Except in this case, but that's how topdeck wars in arena end up sometimes.
    The best part of Anima Golem is it probably won't get mind controlled on turn 10.

    In the first game Kripp missed lethal. He should have used implosion on the taunt totem, then give power overwhelming to any of his minions, then he would have been able to play the doomguard and go face,face,face for 18 damage for the win.

    Give it lots of health or it doesn't take any damage/can't die unless the effect happens or something and I think it'd be okay. Most likely won't last a turn but if it does it should essentially be able to trade with anything IMO.

    maybe one could make a silence heavy deck with stealth creatures and stuff like ancient watcher, ironbeak owl, wailing soul, sunfury protector, defender of argus. priests could just use silence(the 0 mana one) on it and itll only cost 6 mana total. i mean i know this might not be a great deck but it would make it easier to play anima golem i think lol

    I really liked seeing the title, because, I have 1 normal and even 1 golden of it and I was hoping that there's finally a good deck to build around it. Now I have to hope that my booster packs start being useful soon.

    So, there's a 4 mana 7/7, a 5 mana 8/8, and a 6 mana 9/9.
    I'm really not looking forward to seeing this continue.

    That missed lethal in the first game was almost disastrous. For the record his lethal was implosion the taunt totem, power overwhelming the animation golem, hit with doomgaurd

    I use 1 Anima Golem in my Warlock deck. I have cards that cannot be targeted by spells, blood imps, and void terrors. Many ways to make the card work. Turn 5 play spectral knight, turn 6 play Anima Golem.

  • @drlolcatz5281

    I use him in my deathterror cause if he is trouble of dying i can play void terror who gets +9 +9 and he other minion next to him which would almost always be a deathrattle such as clockwork gnome, it is hilarious to the get the stealth card from gnome and usually win

  • @BenCarnage

    How about Anima Golem setup in a sticky-zoo-taunt deck? Haunted Creeper, Nerubian Egg, Harvest Golem, Shredder, etc. It still is really weak to BGH, yes, but if you also have Dr. Balanced and a second anima... well then you'll have 3 BGH targets instead of one and you're more likely to stick on the board.
    Overall though, yeah, this card is hard to keep on the board unless you are already very favored.

    there is one reason to run thsi card: bot priests can't deal with the effect
    trust me I had this happen to me multiple times
    thoughtsteal on turn 3/4 and on turn six a naked anima golem
    or he mind controls the animal golem on a empty board
    that's how I know I'm up against a bot these days

    For now I run this with some "have to kill twice" and a few hard to kill minions, it is not about put the combo on the board in the same turn, it is about keeping board control with a bit "have to kill twice" minions to live after an AOE.
    Basically just another kind of ZOO.
