I made a few trades the past few years and it has worked out for me. I am highlighted some of the strategies I employed and how to properly dollar cost average. Everybody has different skills and you need to find out what type of investor you are. For me, I tend to do best when trading a few times a year while active trading tends to be too much work and too stressful.
Making small moves and dollar cost average has worked out for me so I just wanted to cover the theory behind what I am currently doing.

I like buying and setting a target gain and then creating a limit sell order for that target. Most of the time I will sell my cost basis plus a little profit and let the rest ride up hopefully.

Even if you are lucky to win some extra $ with the day trading, consider how much personal time and stress do you invest into this activity, plus add all the opportunity cost that miss while doing it. Just invest long term in index and forget about it. Use that time to do other meaningful activities and as result you will eventually end up in a significantly better position.

I would consider 3-4 trades per year not day trading. 3-4 times a day is day trading.

I do this with some stocks too and it can be pretty effective. But also sometimes it can be really nerve-racking. In February 2020, the S&P 500 dropped like 30 percent in a single month (From Feb 2020 to March 2020). I initially kept buying every 5% drop. But after a while it got really scary. But with some stocks, ie now, I did that with Meta and it's been paying off. I feel like every 5 percent drop I'm ok with putting just a smidgen in each time.

Totally agree. I have a portfolio which I traded actively, compared to another one that simply invest in VOO. For the last 5 years I outperformed VOO but since the last year VOO has outperformed my active trading portfolio, so I decided it's not worth the time and energy I spent on that & switch everything to VOO now.

luckily recently after long years of pain my stock goes up, so i hope it will continue further so i will be hopefully rich.

Average person doesn’t understand basic percentages. If you’re up 500% in your portfolio over the course of 10 years, a recession with a 50% stock is half of the portfolio. A one year recession can bust a decade of gains.

Agreed, the index is a safe bet. It is a gamble with Tesla now but maybe worthwhile investment to hold long-term or wait for bigger dips (if we ever get market correction). Buffet apparently has a 10% stake in BYD which overtook Telsa as the largest ev producer. Any reservations?
Nvidia is pricey but appears to be trending on the same trajectory as Tesla during its peak prior to split. May potentially double with AI advancement.

I've have a pretty bad track record with individual stocks since trading since 2001 -- constantly looking for a unicorn. Luckily our retirement funds have always been S&P500.
I kinda got lucky in March 2020 because I was saving to buy a house with cash and bet the farm on tech stocks I thought would be popular with the stay at home restrictions (Amazon, Google, Facebook).

99.99% of people should not try day trading or timing the market. Ask yourself, are you Warren Buffet or his equivalent? Everyone makes money in a bull market.... which is what we have been in since we recovered from covid. Just follow Warren Buffets advice and buy the s&p 500 and I would argue as much bitcoin as you can stomach from the volatility.
