I was looking up reverse wash coz I needed it for my next project, lo and behold it a reverse wash video with my next project, Sinanju. Thank you so much!
thanks for making this vid, worked good for me! there's so much confusion with lacquer/enamel/acrylic, guys at the store totally confused me with this. so i airbrushed primer onto my piece, then AK Xtreme Metal aluminum, and lastly Vallejo Model Air black. used a cotton swab with water and wiped the black off the raised parts. i think the reason this worked is because AK Xtreme Metal is solvent based and Vallejo Model Air is water based.
geez I feel like this would be so easy to screw up the order of color operations. Like this I feel like would only work well if you had a part that had this kind of height split
Cuz gloss black base is required for a more metallic finish for metallic layers. He used star bright gold and it works better if there's a gloss black base. all paint layers except for the top layer are lacquer paints. The final black layer uses enamel paint. As enamel paint thinner does not dissolve lacquer paint, it can there for be used to wipe away the top most black layer without removing the lacquer layers below.
@@Sharkey007x depends on whether u put the acrylic above or below. In terms of paint thinner solubiliy, lacquer> enamel> acrylic. Lacquer can dissolve everything below it.
This is reverse washing....the whole point is to not have a masking hell when using the gold paint....using lacquer thinner would also remove ALL layers of lacquer used down to the primer.
Not original OP but from what I've seen others do, yes you gotta thin before airbrushing. Enamel thinner at 1:1 paint / thinner ratio or milk consistency seems to be what everyone is doing
@@gundamchris1233 Neither one is used in the video, the gold being used isn't super shiny and they used a satin or semi gloss black, NOT a gloss one so it will dull even further. Top coat is whatever you want your overall finish to be.

This is the exact piece I need this for lol
Thank you
Awesome tutorial and great finishing!

Yes I agree, I think use less damping thinner to wash and angle of cotton bud can help a little for final process when it not height split parts.
gun cleaning swabs are your friend. They don't leave behind hairs, and they have a good point too
@@Sharkey007x gun cleaning swabs are one of my favorite items on my bench
@@barbatosrex9473 they were a godsend for cleaning out airbrush when a friend recommend I check them out, such a huge upgrade over q-tips
Wow 😊
Very clever and great results
That was so satisfying to watch, I’m 100% buying a sinanju hg now
So you use a primer, lacquer paint, lacquer paint, enamel, then use enamel thinner?
Super clean, CRISP details
thank you very much 😊
I clicked on this video because I saw the exact piece that I need to paint lol
Same lmao
how about thinner for enemal with airbrush 1:1? please
Can I find these colors in a spray can?
Can I use acrysion to substitute the enamel?
Watching this after I free hand brushed black and gold on my Sleeves Dreissen, lol.
simple and to the point
Black enamel must thin with thinner Mr hobby right
I did want to ask, why is the black layer right after the primer necessary, if you're just painting black on the very top layer?
Cuz gloss black base is required for a more metallic finish for metallic layers. He used star bright gold and it works better if there's a gloss black base. all paint layers except for the top layer are lacquer paints. The final black layer uses enamel paint. @@SongShiyu so this does not work with acrylics?

Your awesome for this. Thanks so much.😊
awesome
Will stuff like Isopropyl Alcohol work?
Thanks for this tutorial!! 🔥
1 question whats the black tamiya after the primer paint for? Why not directly paint it with the gold gaia? Thanks 👍
This is reverse washing....the whole point is to not have a masking hell when using the gold paint....using lacquer thinner would also remove ALL layers of lacquer used down to the primer.
Can I do that with spray can??
Sure, but have to wait for a long time to dry 2 hours+ for 1 layer. and use a paintbrush to apply enamel
Does the enamel paint need to be thin and of it does what kind of thinner did you use?
Not original OP but from what I've seen others do, yes you gotta thin before airbrushing. Enamel thinner at 1:1 paint / thinner ratio or milk consistency seems to be what everyone is doing
Enamel thinner is the only thinner you should be using and 1:1 ratio instead of Lacquers 1:2-3 ratios.
do you put a over coat of flat or glossy clear for the final step?
Probably flat would be best it wasn’t vary shiny in the show
