Colleen, you and Laura are so real and so good! Thanks for this! I do think of the thorns in all of our sides that we so desperately want God to remove. We struggle and we pray, but God tells us that His power is made perfect in our weaknesses. We cling to God more when we are broken and aware of our need for Him. Thank you both for your love for JESUS! By the way, I love your Dad, Colleen. He has helped me so much. PRAISE JESUS!!! 😊Jeff ❤

Jeffrey, OH HOW TRUE . . . like never before, we are all clinging to Jesus as HE is the only one capable of sustaining us when those "thorns" are allowed to stay. I gotta add I LOVE my dad, too . . . for so many similar reasons; and because he’s my dad that God provided for me on this side of heaven. So thankful for you. (I don’t know if you have seen it but dad and I did a “Clinging to Hope” interview recently that tells his own story. Here’s the link to encourage you: reframingministries.com/podcast/interview-swindoll-2022/ )
      Great to connect with you!

Great realism! Heroic & humble & brave. I relate to the caregiving fire that transforms & dissolves the ego into pliable usefulness.
I also doubt "God" edited what got lopped or left in the Bible (e.g. the "Thou shalt dash their babies heads upon the rocks" psalm got left in, & "women cover your heads.") A Council of Roman bishops long ago kept this & tossed that. If someone's faith depends on "God sat down & wrote the Bible"...or "God is literally a wind, a rock, or a beam of photons," & "Jesus is literally gonna return on "a cloud," (when Jesus is already here in "the least of these,") then it's not faith but literalism, idolatry & superstition. It misrepresents Christianity.
God is alive, a verb, not a specific ancient verse, let alone a billionaire funded political club fomenting racism or attacks on ecologists, etc. As a sacred directive, i love the Bible. I memorize psalms & beatitudes etc. It brings life to life.
