5:50 we should not use salty water in plants. Though great video, recently purchased Dishwasher and hence bought 5L Kent softener after seeing this video review.
Which salt to be used to regenerate the softner, any edible salt or only rock white salt, can I use tata iodine salt...am confused q ki rock salt puri tarah se dissolve nahi hota hai Pani me
I have purchased one, but water tastes salty after regeneration. Are you having the same problem? Also, the water gets really hard only after 3 days of regeneration. What is hardness of water at your end? At my place hardness is 850 .
@@johndoe-vc1we My hardness and TDS fluctuates between 700 to 850. We get mixture of ground water and lake water, hence this variation. Usually TDS value is slightly more than Hardness. Today I measured only TDS and it was 723. After each regeneration the hardness drops down to 100, but TDS stays same. (For me the water tastes salty after regeneration. Not sure why. Btw, water at tap where I don't have softener does not taste salty.) Anyways, this goes on for max 3 days, after which water is hard again and salty taste is gone. I am going to switch to crystal salt as the Kent Support person recommended and will see if I am still getting this issue, but he also said regeneration every 2-3 days is a common thing to expect for hardness above 550.
@@nikhilmankars5994 hi, thanks for the reply. The reason for the salty taste is you need to flush for a few minutes after regeneration. I think you need to open just the inlet tap and keep outlet facing up. There should be no salty taste after that. I'm glad you pointed out that TDS remained the same but the hardness dropped. Many don't understand this. The limit of this softener is 500 ppm so if your hardness is 700 then the best you can expect after regeneration is 200 ppm. The manual says for this unit regeneration has to be done after 1,200 litres. If that's how much you consume in 2-3 days then this is expected. Something you could try is when dissolving the salt to use low ppm water, RO or bottled water instead of tap water to mix the salt.
@@johndoe-vc1we Hi. Thank you for response. I really appreciate when people respond with such clarity. Here are few of my use observations. I am getting softness below 100 after regeneration, so I am happy with that. I have 2 person usage with softener in bathroom. Even if I account a generous use of 10 buckets of water usage per day. This barely gives me 150 liters of water usage per day. 3 days of usage will not be more than 450 liters, which is no where close to what the spec says. I am really not happy with this part. The flush (cleaning of salt) function is recommended for 3-5 mins. I have tried it from 3 mins to 10 mins of flush time but the water still tasted salty. Also FYI, I am using soft water for regeneration (i.e. not Hard). Basically I have 2 softeners and I use water from one to regenerate the other and vice-versa and that's how I have a regeneration schedule in place for each. Do I need to ensure it the regeneration water has low TDS too?
Hlo brother , two days back I had also bought this water softener after seeing ur video , I want to ask one thing that why this water is not completely removing soap from my hands after washing ,after washing hand with this water if I again rub my hands there is foam in my hands ,do u experience same issue ,please reply so I can call kent representative if there is any problem.
If it's not removing soap it means water is soft, hard water removes soap very quickly so it's actually a good news that you are experiencing that water is not removing soap
The soapy feeling is characteristic of too soft water. Even if you don't take any soap, soft water will give you that smooth slippery feeling. This happens immediately after regeneration. You can experience that after some usage that slippery feeling will go, that's where the water range is coming in good usable range where it feels good and is not hard too. But it wont last long, and will soon reach too hard. I think only way around this would be to perform frequent regenerations with less salt to stay within that good usable range.
Hi Anant, count my experience, this product will waste a lot of water just like RO, will need more salt than you think, will need regeneration everyday, I don't think that it gives more than 100 litres of water after each regeneration.
@@kiranpreetkaur2482 depends entirely on your hardness how long before regeneration. What is the hardness of your water? you need a hardness test kit not TDS meter

I am hoping you are using rock salt and not table salt.
I tried both.

there is a kit come with some chemical. installation guy can bring if you ask them.

How much is the water hardness coming out of this according to the hardness test kit you have? And if you have tested TDS what is the figure

Don;t buy if you on rented house. If you stop using for 2 months its resin will vanish. it will corroded. Without resin it' just plastic body.
