    I decided to reverse the blades of my Makita 2012NB planer. I noticed that it has gotten louder and the out-feed rate has become slow (indications that the blade is dull). I did notice before that i ran a reclined wood through the planer hitting a nail or screw(embedded on the wood) which caused chipping on the blade (hence the very obvious planing marks). This video will show how to change/reverse the planer blades to get smooth and better planing results. Please don’t forget to subscribe, comment and like. Thank you for watching.

    its really loud thats why we use earmuff and dont plane a wood with nails its very expensive to replace the blade

      it really is expensive. reversed mine already. will have to order a spare just in case.

    This video is quite awesome for teaching how to change or clean the blade. Me and my husband just order this planer. It will help us to use this item.

    Nice job. Does the "magnet kit" come with the Makita unit?

    I have a question about the blade durability, how long does it take before the blades get dull?

    • @cgdwoodworks759
      @cgdwoodworks759  2 года назад +1

      it largely depends on what wood you use it for. for softwoods, it can last you quite a while. in my case though, ive used it for hardwood and reclaimed wood (with nails) 😟, so I had to reverse the blade after roughly 3 months of continued use. If you are wanting to get one, i highly suggest getting a planer with a spiral cutter head. 😁

      @@cgdwoodworks759 that’s quite good. I currently own a Dewalt 735 and those stock blades only lasts for 1 month before I have to reverse them. I use it mainly to plane tropical hardwoods. I’m thinking about investing another $500 for a helical head or swapping the unit for a makita

      @@donjulio3092 the dewalt 735 is a great thickness planer. upgrading to a helical cutter head would be a great decision. a tad pricy but as far as feedback goes, it is well worth it.
