Honestly even though it was more of a throwaway comment about the different sound it was reassuring to hear it because right now I’ve been super self conscious on both strokes sounding the same.
I've been practicing this technique for awhile now, randomly found this vid, still learnt something new. Good work dude :) Also thought you had an eyebrow piercing but it was just a mark on my screen.
Man, I'm gonna try this, great tip! I can blaze all kinds of finger techniques but could never get good tone with Victor Wooten type lines and now I see that my attempts to have 'good' technique with the wrist were misguied
Excellent Video! - I found it after many hours of struggling with these very same topics only to find these very same conclusion for myself. Therefore, to my fellow Bassists, watch this video and apply Daric Bennett's instructions,...''You'll Be Glad You Did!''
I would love to see musical examples of this at 90 bpm+ using various descending pentatonic patterns like Marcus Miller uses. The trick seems to be switching in and out of the double thumb technique from the rest of the slap groove. As opposed to just doing an exercise where it is all Double thumb.
I have a lot to learn..... I’ve played since 1990 I learned without lessons and have my own style of playing. I play by ear and use a acoustic slap style with using my thumb instead of 2 fingers, been playing for so long wrong, I have a lot of habits to break. I’ll practice this style as well. I’ve played lead in a lot of bands and have recorded, I’m good but definitely do not know professional technics. I need to step up my game! Thanks for the lesson!
Hello, maestro I tried this technique on guitar because i don't have bass,I got pain on the thumb part...Seems like it doesn't work on guitar in my case .. can ???

Better late than never.... Playing for decades and hell-bent on learning this! Thank you, bass mate! BTW, tell us about your bass, please.
You the man Daric. I’ve been using my wrist and you’re right I’m swinging the beat. That pivot tip was right on.
Fantastic lesson, your teaching has reached another level, thank you sir!!

Check out Tosin Abassi,he plays with his fingers and thumb on 8 string guitar.
Flick it with the edge of your nail instead of the corner of your thumb. Your thumb will blister in top.
What's the brand of Bass guitar are you playing?
Elrick Basses. the information is in the description.
I never realized that my upstrokes were causing me to swing rhythms.
