the beat is perfect rick was showing that he could combine rock with r&b perfect timing the bass is driving the song and the drum machines keeps a steady beat
The production sound Rick brought to all his albums was elite tier. As producer he always had full control of his sound. Glow was def exploring a rock R&B fusion, not that strange considering Rick was in a band with Neil Young. For me his peak was the Cold Blooded album that preceded this one...
Don't insult him. Just call Prince the Midwest Rick James. When Prince opened for Rick James he taped all his shows. He was copying Rick's show antics as the opening act. When Rick saw this he kicked him off the tour. Prince made it bigger than Rick James because MTV refused to play Rick. They loved the androgynous that Prince had. That was MTV's agenda. But Rick still made it big without MTV.
Can anyone out there tell me why this great album was never released on cd? I have most of Ricks albums, including "The Flag" which is also quite rare now, but I am just not able to get "Glow" on cd. I suppose I will just have to try and make a copy of it using old vinyl and the computer, but I don't think it will sound as good somehow. C'mon Motown re-release this great album.
They released all of Rick's albums digitally a few years ago. They're all remastered and some come with extended versions of his hit songs. I still wish everything was actually released physically on CD. I still need Bustin out of L Seven and The Flag on CD as well as this.
Bought this record in high school when it came out. Still have a copy, and hearing it in my head. It's 2022
Rick's GLOW lp from 1985 was the JAM for me! I danced to every song because I just CAN'T STOP! LOLLL!

?? Steve Ferrone played drums on Glow.
Stopping by in 2020. Woke up to the sounds of Moon Child swirling around in my brain this morning.

Good times.
Great song. Please can someone become the Next Rick James like and slow down the rap music.
This would have sounded great in Miami Vice
There should have been a video 4 this jam!
i always called him the east coast prince; on the solo guitar in the end he kills it and shows his full potential.

Man Kenny Hawkins guitar riff at 4.30 towards the end of the track is very much a match for Jimmy Hendricks in style.
