    I suspect it will still only be Manchester for international medical graduates.
    *UK* medical students will be taking the MLA as part of their degree at their own medical school. Also the OSCE part will AFAICT have local variations. I suspect that for international students the MLA will basically the same as PLAB as now, just with a new name.

    Do you expect the UKMLA part 1to include basic sciences in the way that USMLE step 1 does? From what I know, PLAB 1 focuses on clinical and practical aspects of medicine.
    Reviewing basic sciences all over again would be the most taxing and boring :(

    • @wingmanemu3473
      @wingmanemu3473 2 года назад +3

      thats what made me decide that plab was better than any other exam its because it focuses on clinical cases and not borning and tiring content of the first and second year of medical college

    • @RoadToUK

      GMC has been testing UKMLA esque questions in the PLAB exams for some time now, so one would think it would be along the same lines.

    I just have one question 🙋 The competition is rising fiercely in The UK as well. Is there a possibility that getting into non training posts/FY2 posts or getting into Specialty Training is going to be harder for IMGs once the UKMLA is introduced? Is there a probability that The UK might close it's doors for IMGs in the near future?

    • @RoadToUK
      @RoadToUK  2 года назад +8

      No one can predict the future, but personally we believe it will just level the playing field even more. IMGs have been used to these types of exams for years but local graduates have never had to take them.
