Very informative! I also know if a patient, whether their yours or not, asks where their roommate has gone to or has been wheeled to, you cannot disclose where they went. I hear you can say something like "I'm not sure." or just say you are not at liberty to tell them that info or that you can't disclose it.

I really wished we had a similar law as the new HIPAA here in Thailand!
Can you imagine how the management of the hospital in our 'real life' scenario would have acted if such a law had existed here in Thailand? Instead, they chose to reject the patient's complaint (my stepfather), even tried to cover-up their dreadful mistake! (Posting my stepfather's 'before and after facelift' photos on the hospital website and allowing its agents around the world to do the same!) It resulted in my stepfathers photos being posted on more than 100 websites, in more than ten different languages, in more than 20 countries and in more than 20 states in the USA!)
So yes, a similar patient friendly law as your HIPAA would be welcomed here in Thailand and in all of Asia!
It would not be a threat to the many excellent hospitals here in Thailand, it would instead be a promise because it would give more confidence and trust between the hospitals and their patients!
